Feeding only 300W to a RMU208

Luis Bejarano ·
Currently facing a situation where I have a PM4500 and must power 3 RMU208 on single channel mono which would give me 300W for each channel since this speaker is 8ohm, I could wire them parallel to lower the resistance to 4ohm on a pair of RMU208 but the client requires Left Right and Center channels independently. Will I loose significant power if I give this speaker only its long term power requirement? Power Handling, long-term continuous Bose extended-lifecycle test⁴: 300 W

Powermatch amplifier, remote overload

Luis Bejarano ·
Scenario: Ex1280 + PM8500N controlling 8 zones on 50V high impedance mode. CS Remote 2.2 made layout to control all 8 zones, 5 people share the same remote on their phones (1 iPhone, 4 android) and additionally its installed with remote client 2.2 on 2 windows PC's. Bug: The remote completely stops working, not control or feedback from the volume levels. You can still go online to the amplifier with CSD but the CS remote will show the amplifier as offline. To fix this you have to close all...

CSD 5.7 - PowerMatch amplifiers fails to upgrade

Peter Heiberg ·
Hi During routine maintenance, I came over a bug in FW updating of PM amps. The amps in question were at FW version 2.220b1. I started CSD 5.7.0.31504, and by old habit I pushed EQ updates first to avoid waiting for the reboot. EQ updated fine. Then I started the FW update process, and both PMs shortly after delivered loud pops from all connected speakers, before blacking out entirely. To get them to power back up they needed a couple of minutes disconnected from AC. I then tried to push...

Chassis Design Request

JeffAlex2 ·
Hi, I did not see a feature request topic for Amps so I'll drop it here. Could the chassis of the Powermatch Series include movable rack ears? Perhaps located at the front, -3 inches, -6 inches? Many times were are in an MDF or IDF installing amps and once installed, the area behind the amp is more cramped than the rest of the gear due to the depth of the amp unit. This would also help balance the load a bit on "less than amazing" I.T. racks. Thanks!!

Can I check the PM8500 usage time? Is there any configuration?

Hello Luis, Thank you for reaching out to us. Is it possible for you to share the CSD and CPZ files? Are all devices, including PC, have this issue? When does it happen, like, when all devices are controlling at the same time, in idle after x time, ..... Hope you can provide us more information. BR Arno

Re: CSD 5.7 - PowerMatch amplifiers fails to upgrade

Arno-at-Bose ·
Hello Peter, It sounds like a known issue listed in the release notes: PowerMatch update can fail when going from PowerMatch firmware version 2.x to CSD 5.6.2+. If during the update the PM turns off, power down the PM, wait until the Error LED is no longer illuminated (or wait 1 minute) and powerup the PM again. This issue is caused by the Windows region/language settings. a. Workaround: Set the Windows Regional Format settings to “English (United States)” and restart Windows Start the PM in...

Suggested procedure solved the issue, thanks. I can also confirm CSD 5.7.1 on Norwegian regional formatting updates 2.610 PM amps without issues.

Hello Flavio, We only store the alarm log, which can be read from the front panel or received via the serial protocol (please see "Device Commands"). BR Arno

Re: Feeding only 300W to a RMU208

Hi Luis, the power handling numbers in the TDS are stated using a noise signal with 6dB crest factor. In order to achieve this power, you need an amplifier with 600 watts of RMS power. If you can only supply 300 watts, the max SPL numbers from the TDS would have to be reduced by 3dB. Any further questions, let us know. best rgds, Thomas

Luis Bejarano ·
Hi Thomas, Thanks for answering so fast, If I understand correctly the PM4500 will provide me with 300w RMS for each mono channel and would be loosing 3dB on each RMU208.
