MAC Addresses

JeffAlex2 ·
Hey Folks, As we deploy more of the ControlSpace and PowerMatch products, we are working with enterprise level network companies who are setting up VLANs with IP reservations for the gear. In order to make this go smoothly, we need the MAC addresses for the gear at the time we order it. With most IP gear we order, the MAC Addresses appear on the sales order. Is this something Bose can provide? Thanks!

MAC Addresses and Enterprise Networks

JeffAlex2 ·
Team, We deploy Bose systems in facilities that have secure, enterprise level networks with VLANs (hospitals, senior living, embassy). The easiest way to provision Bose gear to the network is to provide the network administrator with the MAC addresses of the Bose gear prior to installation and the appropriate IP addresses are reserved in the DNS for the gear. Would you please consider printing the MAC addresses for the gear both on the unit and in the shipping confirmation? Thanks!!

Remote App Network Performance with Dante

JeffAlex2 ·
Hey Guys, We deploy CS Systems over enterprise networks with VLANs and SSIDs set up for the audio system. We never experienced any significant lag in control when using the ESP00, but when that was discontinued we switched to Dante to get the distribution capability we needed. Since switching to Dante we are noticing lagged behavior with the remote control apps. Is this a result of having remote control and Dante distribution on the same network or is there something else we should check? ...

CSR network address changer

This program will help you step-by-step to change the network address of a CSR design file to match the network address of the CSD design, if changed http://bosepro.education/categories/photo/915

Hello JeffAlex, I haven't heard on CSR control lag. Dante multicast flows can flood the WiFi link. Audinate wrote an article on this. For testing, you might can try to isolate Dante and CSD control by selecting Isolated mode for the Dante network mode. On the primary port you will have Dante and on the secondary port CSD control. Or build a small network and see if you still experiencing this issue. Do you also experiencing this issue when you use CSR on a wired PC? I hope this will help you...

Re: Remote App Network Performance with Dante

Arno, to pick up on where we left off... our network team seems to think that since we deploy CS Systems with music streaming constantly over Dante to 3 PM8250 amps and 24 zones, that remote control traffic over the same ethernet connection is not getting priority, therefore lagging. In your response on 1/7 you suggested isolating the two traffic streams. I assume that this is performed in Dante Controller here...attachment Are the rest of the steps for CSD and CS Remote builder documented? ...

solating Dante and control can be done in Dante Controller: Go to Device Info double click on the Dante device click on the Network Config tab and select Isolated_Networks under Switch Configuration A notification window will pop-up and select Yes Reboot the unit You have to do this for all Dante devices and you have to create 2 networks (Dante / Control) BR Arno

Hi Goran, Just use Dante Controller. 'Device View'>'Network Config'. Change to 'Manually configure an IP address', and enter the desired info. Then reboot it. Thanks, ChrisJ-at-Bose

Hi Amol, In order for the EP22D to have a static IP address now, I assume you were originally seeing it in Dante Controller or ControlSpace Designer. Did the problem happen just after setting the new IP and rebooting the device? Possibilities: -It's sharing the same IP address as another device on the network. Try to isolate it from other network devices or bridged networks. If it becomes visible, change the IP to a unique address. -If it can't be pinged after isolating it from other network...

Mr. ChrisJ, Thank you for your reply. I have already tried this. When I connect that same device to local Network switch then I can control that device on dante controller. But Same device I put on fiber optic network its starts pinging but not visible on dante controller. We are using a network where thousands of DHCP and static devices are connected in a network. I think its a problem of Network only. So now I have decided to separate our Network For Dante Devices only.

Hi JeffAlex2, For new products, such as the Commercial Sound Processors (CSP-428 and CSP-1248) and digital ControlCenters (CC-1D, CC-2D, CC-3D) the MAC address is printed on the product and on the outside of the box. The same is true for other current networked products (with a few exceptions), including the EX-1280C. As for adding this to shipping confirmations, I don't think this is possible at the moment. (particularly on a global scale) Though, I will bring this request to the attention...

Thanks Chris! Does that include network Amps?

The networked amplifiers do not have a MAC address printed on the box or on the product. This might be a consideration in the future, but not at this time. Thank you, ChrisJ-at-Bose

Or just on the box it ships in?
