Noise/ echoey sound while playing with macbook

Hello everyone, question from someone who doesn't know much about Bose yet...I play music for my dance sessions, and the studio has a Bose L1 with tonematch mixer. I also use a headset which I connected directly to the mixer. However, the sound was not good at all...echoey, people couldn't understand my words, and all songs with piano had a lot of noise and weird pitch. Even had to stop... So....wonder what I can do different for next time?! I have an old macbook, version 10.6. Is this the...Read More...
Hi Shivani, Thanks for the pictures and added information. This is your problem with the connection from the computer to the T1. Please use a cable like this (connected to two ToneMatch channels will work). Click the picture to see more detail. STRead More...

Building the perfect Micro System

I know there are a lot of discussions regarding 3rd party sub-woofers for use with the S1 Pros. I am trying to keep it a small 3 piece system. Has anyone considered (or tried) two S1's with a QSC KS112? My rep at my local Guitar Center seems to feel that it would be better match one KS112 rather than two Behringer Behringer B1200D's. Here are the specs QSC KS112 Configuration 6th-Order Bandpass Subwoofer LF Transducer 12-inch (305 mm), Cone Frequency Response (-6 dB) 41 Hz - 108 Hz Frequency...Read More...

T4s with two Bose s1pro and L1 model II .

I all, I buy a new T4s. here is how it was suggested to me to connect. I have the logitech bluetooth module to connect remotely with my iphone. I would like to know if it is possible to control the volumes of the S1 pro from the t4s without having to go to adjust it directly on the S1. For now the master of the t4s controls the three speakers at the same time but I would like to control them independently. Thanks for the helpRead More...
Hi again Rocket8, It's difficult to know what is causing the hum. Important Make sure the power supply for the Logitech Bluetooth Receiver is plugged into the same power bar or AC power source as the T4S - ToneMatch power supply. Other considerations Do you have your computer connected to any of your sound equipment when you hear the hum? If the computer is a portable computer, please run on battery (disconnect the AC power supply). Is the hum still there? Please make sure all the cables...Read More...

Charging S1 Pro

I have charged my S1 Pro probably 6-7 times. I believe the pulsing blue light goes out after it charges for a couple of hours. Yesterday afternoon I placed it on charge, and checked last night, and the blue light was still pulsing. So left it overnight. Checked it this morning, and blue light is still pulsing. Removing the cord, and turning on it reads four flashes, so it must be charged? Any advice why it the light doesn't go off when charging?Read More...
Hi Yendor, It sounds like you may have a defective battery. If you have two S1 Pro systems, please swap the batteries and see if the issue follows the battery to the other unit. If it does (or you have only one S1 Pro), please call Bose Support and describe what's happening. (the battery won't completely charge to 100%) and the charging light won't go off. Using Mackie SRM 150 w/ Tonematch i as personal monitor

Hi Gloria, If you are not using the ToneMatch Presets, EQ, or Effects then you can run the Left/Mono Output of the harmonizer left mono output directly to the L1 Model II Power Stand Analog Input using an XLR to 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable. If you want to use a monitor Run the Left/Mono Output of the harmonizer left mono output to T4S channel 1 Set the Pan on T4S channel 1 up the middle Connect the T4S ToneMatch Output (that goes into the right output) or if you have an L1...Read More...

New Little Guitar

Oldghm
Long story, short as I can make it. In a discussion with a friend about buying a 5 year old a guitar. I suggested a Little Martin or Baby Taylor. Mother says, "that's too expensive." I say, "You can afford it." But, I search a little for travel guitars and find this . By the time I advise the Mother, she has already bought the Martin. I look at some videos and it peaks my interest so I cash in some points, beg for additional discount and order one up for myself. This little guitar doesn't...Read More...
Oldghm: A thousand thumb's up. After my dad showed me the chords for 5 Foot Two on Ukulele (I actually asked him to show me St. Louis Blues), I started playing the Arthur Godfrey style chordal melodies from his lesson books when I was about 8 years old on one of the decent playable ukes my dad had lying around. He didn't allow me to play his Martins until later. Where I live now, lots of kids start playing instruments when they're 3-5 years old - it's in the DNA of the islands. The son of...Read More...

Bose S1 Pro as monitor, what should I use for FOH ?

Hi Guys I've been on break from music for awhile but I'm back and I have a question About Me: Solo Act Acoustic Guitar and Vocals Small shows mostly Average crowd 50 to 100 people ( 250 max, not often ) mixture of indoor and outdoor gigs I purchased an S1 Pro recently and I like it. I plan on using it as my monitor and mixer and I would run a line out of it into FOH. Question is, what should I use for FOH ? My thoughts so far are this: 1) Another S1 pro ( light !, quick setup, could run 2 up...Read More...
Thanks ST for your help and info 😊 In the last few days I've been trying a new monitoring position with the S1 behind me that is working quite well. I've been able to get lots of gain before feedback and I can hear my voice ( and pitch ) quite well, so that may be a game changer for me. I may now be ok with a single S1 for the majority of my shows ( which are small) and I can begin pondering what I will be purchasing for the bigger shows. I owned an L1 classic before taking a break and I...Read More...

Hi all! New forum member and hoping to please gather some knowledge on an issue I'm having with my S1 Pro and linking to a Sennheiser Wireless System. As we know, the line out 1/4" jack is pretty hot out of the gate when connecting two S1 Pros with a wired connection. The issue I'm having is when I am going OUT of my MASTER S1 Pro via a Sennheiser G4 wireless pack transmitter and INTO my SLAVE S1 input channel, there is a horrible hiss that sounds like interference that I am unable to...Read More...

L1 Classic Doesn't Power On

I purchased my L1 Classic new in 2008, and have used it for many hundreds of gigs without issue - until yesterday ... it won't power on (no "green light"). I've checked/replaced the T15AH fuse and checked the AC-cable. I AM getting power to the unit, as the "phantom" buttons do blink "red" when depressed. Thoughts?Read More...
Hi 1Mudshark1, I'm sorry your L1 Classic has stopped working. You've done everything you can. Sometimes you can reset the unit by removing all the connections and letting it sit for a minute or two. You've probably already done that. You can try calling Bose Support to see if they have any other suggestions. Trim level? and volume issues.

I have bought one of the L1 model2 with B2 bass module, really happy with how clear it sounds, but feel it doesn't give as much sound as id like it too. For the trim is it ok to turn that right up so that i have more control and level on the desk? or should it only be a certain level on the trim? I also have an Allen and heath mixing desk that i'm using with the bose speaker, but is it better to have the Tone match mixer? would that make the sound any louder? In a room with my set up, how...Read More...
Hi Katie, Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. Congratulations. It's great you are enjoying the clarity. Is that your perception on stage, or at the back of the audience. The L1 Model II projects sound differently from more conventional loudspeakers. The horizontal coverage is extremely wide, and the sound drops off over distance less. As a result, you don't need to run the L1 Model II as loud as other loudspeakers to reach an audience. We have an article that covers all the details...Read More...

T1 - pops, then must be restarted. Screen shows issues

Had this T1 with an L1 Model 2 for 2 years. Did the 1.8 firmware update. Just last week, with no warning, the system "popped" then all sound was out. After restarting the system, it comes back. But any scene beyond user scene 06 shows a mess on the blue screen and pops to cut out. I tried to re-install the firmware, but I still have the visual below. Any thoughts?Read More...
Hi Dave, I'm sorry about the pop and the screen corruption. Since you've already done the firmware update, it sounds like the T1 will need to be serviced. Phantom Power Switch

Hi, just switched to L1 Compact (X2) and a T4S mixer. Previously used Marshall small combos. Well impressed so far. Question: Is there anyway to override the phantom power to the main input sockets other than the push button on the mixer panel? We don't need the 48V but anyone inadvertently touching the switch in the dark is rewarded with a 'thump' from the columns. Then another when they switch it off again.Read More...
Hi Los, Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome. Great. Short answer: No. You can leave the phantom power on. If you have only microphones connected to the XLR inputs, you won't hurt them by having the phantom power on. See: Phantom Power If you haven't done already done it, please update your T4S firmware. T8S

I've played roughly a 20 gigs with my ToneMatch T8S. Two of those gigs were outdoor and the T8S was in the sunlight and, I believe because of the heat, cut off. The second gig was earlier today and we switched out the T8S for my old Mackie mixer which allowed the T8S to cool off. The sun had set so in-between sets I put my T8S back in use and we finished two more sets with it without issue. Please tell me what the heck is going on. Am I not supposed to use the TS8 in the sun????Read More...
Hi, sjmerlin, I'm sorry your T8S is shutting down when you run it in direct sunlight. What was the temperature? If it's warm and the unit is in direct sunlight, it can shut down when the unit overheats. Most of the time when I'm outdoors, I put the ToneMatch mixer in the shade. It's more comfortable for me, and it makes it easier to see the screen and the buttons. If necessary, I bring an umbrella - although usually I have the venue provide a tent. If you're concerned about the reliability...Read More...

Power supply question

Is there a way to hook the T1 Power supply to a Voodo Brick or ISPOT? I have a T1 Mounted on a Travel Pedalboard and currently I have to plug it into an outlet. Plus I have all that extra wire to hide. It would be great to have the connection hooked up to my "chain" and would eliminate one step in the set up and tear down stage..Read More...
Hi DKMUSIC, Please check out the ToneMatch Power Supply to see the power requirements for the T1. That's probably not going to work. I glanced at a couple of Voodoo units and they don't supply 18 volts. You don't want the T1 to shutdown because it's not getting enough power. STRead More...

T8S Flashing and distorting sound

Yesterday while I was rehearsing and my 6 month old T8S went crazy. It started flashing and causing unwanted noise and sounds coming through the L1 model II speakers & B2 subs. I quickly proceeded to turn off the speakers, mixer and keyboard. I then unplugged everything and went upstairs to think through what had happened. Today I took a pair of headphones back to my studio and turned on my power and the keyboard only. After plugging in the headphones to the keyboard, I checked to see if...Read More...

Awful interference with electric guitar

Hi guys I did a gig today in a residential centre using just my S1. I was using it on battery power but as I was using my Telecaster I decided to connect the T1 so that I could pop some delay in for my Shadow's songs. I was using a TRS balanced cable to connect the T1 and S1 and I made a point of turning the Tonematch off on the S1. For some odd reason my guitar then began to develop a nasty hum which stopped when I touched the strings. I tried the guitar through my Fender Deluxe when I got...Read More...
Fluorescent light hum and grounding buzz that goes away when strings are touched are two different phenomenon. Touching strings won't make lighting hum go away, only humbucking action will do that (humbucker pickups or two single coils in parallel and wired out of polarity with each other (positions 2 and 4 on a Strat switch for example). On the flip size, ground buzz only goes away when you ground the circuit (either through a power ground or touching the screens (you are ground). All I can...Read More...

Best (Simple) deployment of L1 system(s) for 7 member band

I am primarily using my collection of L1 systems for conference (spoken word) events (with background music), video projection playback, etc... I have just been contacted by a group of friends who have only been playing "non paid" events for small friendly gatherings. They are now looking to play their largest "non paid" 2 hour gig for about 50 to 60 friends. They have a limited budget and are looking to rent some equipment along with my services as a tech as I've explained my lack of band...Read More...
I can certainly agree using my last statement: Given time one can get used to any good sounding setup. ;-) It would be interesting to play in an "L1 band". Alas, I sold mine. I guess since my band still owns two EON ONEs and one L1M2, we could try a three 'stick' performance (main singer/guitar through his L1M2, the other two of us in individual EONs) - if we play somewhere with enough time to set it up in a space big enough to need it...Read More...

Microphones - more directional than cardioid - preferences and suggestions

Hi Sam Spoons, I aways use supercardioid microphones when I run open mic events or festival sound when I'm using L1 systems. In those situations, gain-before-feedback is more important than missing the voice of a singer who has wandered too far away from the microphone. I also use the Noise Gate in the ToneMatch mixers, so no sound is picked up from the microphone unless the singer is singing directly into the microphone. I haven't lost too many singers along the way. I make a point of...Read More...
