L1 MII resets (loses signal/sound/audio)

I have been battling this issue for several years, and have done everything I could do, but the issue pops up once in a while. At first, I thought I had a bad L1, so I sent it in, but that made no difference. It only happens when: - I am running on a 15 amp (not 20) circuit and if the voltage is not a perfect 120, so let's say 105ish. -I combine a pair of F1 subs on the same circuit. -Running near max capability on everything, including L1s (L1s flickering red on hard hits) Anyhow, on to the...Read More...
So the ever occurring problem showed again last night. The L1s will just reset (power light just stays on), but the L1 loses signal. F1 subs keep playing regardless of volume or how hard I drive them, even while limiting. The only solution was to turn down the F1 subs super low, or to turn the L1 lower, neither of which ideal. It was super embarrassing having people come over to tell me one of the speakers keeps cutting in and out. Funny thing is I didn't even have the F1s running that hard.Read More...

Which L1(s) best for this situation?

Hi-end bar, adjacent to restaurant. Jazz trio (+) as house band, semi-permanat, on very small stage. Could not fit baby grand, so will be using Roland FP90 or similar, small drum kit (16 or 18" bass) with single overhead mic, upright bass w/pickup. Occasional vocalist and or horn will be squeezed in, so 1-2 extra mic channels. Plan to use Bose 8-channel Tone Master. Question is, which L1? Bar venue shape is long, narrow room, seating is around 50 seats nearby, for focus on music, and 45 more...Read More...
@ST - Thanks, this ought to provide some good initial guidance once we start setting up, pre-opening. Yes, we will use a T8S, so this should provide more tools to tweak sound to room/stage peculiarities. And your thoughts on the glass wall are reassuring. Also, the stage sound from T8S/L1 will be cabled into the overall venue AV system. Here, if desired, a Bose matrix router can send the signal to Bose amps and ceiling speakers+sub in each of two zones in this room - bar-end and far-end,...Read More...

L1 Systems and Acoustic Guitar Feedback Busters

Matt Wahl
I had an interesting experience last night. I've been playing this fun patio show at a nice hotel in downtown Knoxville the past few Friday nights. I go guitar and vocals into my T1, Master out to my L1 Compact and Aux out to my S1 Pro as a monitor in the floor wedge position. Last night I had to set up in a new spot and I was having a lot of trouble with the low end of my acoustic guitar. After about 2 hours of fighting it, I remembered that I have a feedback buster (rubber sound hole plug)...Read More...
Hi again Matt, "security blanket" Here's an afterthought. Set up the T1, and then don't make any changes to it for a whole set (or gig). Make any changes directly on the S1 Pro and L1 Compact. See how that goes. STRead More...

F1 812 Speaker Placement

As I am planning to purchase a set of F1 for setting PA at small live band venue (~150 audience), F1 top 812 will be mounted on ceiling and F1 sub will be put to edge of stage, I expect to fill EVEN sounds to every audience at this hall. However, I could not find the detail technical data regarding F1. So far, I have three queries below. 1. How many F1 top 812 speaker should be added to the venue in my case? 2. What is the best 812 speakers placement (Option A / B / C / others)? 3. Do you...Read More...
The reason why I started considering K.2, I found the quoted price of 812 top is the triple cost of K8.2, this is very much expensive. On the other hands, since the provided sounds from our drum kits is very loud, we are planning to add partitions and absorption panels (Clearsonic S2466x2 (S5-2D) Sorber, Clearsonic A2466x6 (A5-6) Drum Shield, Clearsonic S2244 (S2D) Sorber 7-pack) to lower the loud sound, and will not put drum mic. I hope the potential problem would be resolved. Therefore, I...Read More...

L1 Compact Output to Wireless/Bluetooth Ear Monitors

Wondering if anyone has tried/experienced using Wireless Ear Monitors thought the Output of the L1 Compact. I'm already using 2 L1 Compacts (via Daisy Chain) so an additional Monitor (S1 Pro) is not practical or economical. I have tried to reposition the 2 L1 Compacts the "left @9 o'clock" and right @3 o'clock" still getting some feedback, but more importantly I need to hear myself. One suggestion (Local Music Store) is to get a Bluetooth Transmitter (using the 1/4" L1 Compact Output" and an...Read More...

T1 Tonematch control knobs needed

Hi there, I recently lost 3(!) channel volume control knobs from my T1 Tonematch Module (another band member dropped it! - still works fine thank god) while packing away and it wasn't until a week later, when I unpacked it, that I realised that the knobs were missing. I can still operate it but it's fiddly, doesn't look great and I'm mainly afraid that the plastic shafts will eventually get broken without the knob offering it some kind of protection. Now I have already spoken through live...Read More...
I've received the correct knobs now and they do fit but are too loose on the spindle to stay put so I've had to DIY it a bit with a tiny bit of Blutack in each one so they stay on! The knobs are for the TS4/8 and I've got the T1 (the model that those models have superseded; I was told that the knobs for the T1 are no longer available) so I was fully aware that they may not be a perfect fit. Works fine though. Just thought I'd give you all this info so any other T1 users are aware. Cheers!Read More...

Acoustic Bass into T8s->L1: What are good choices for Pickup + Preset

Planning a stage setup for live jazz trio (plus occasional voice/horn) in a modest size venue, all running thru a ToneMatch 8 into a single L1-II. ( This thread explored questions of stage sound equipment for this particular venue.) Bass will be acoustic/upright, ideally running directly into the ToneMatch. Anyone who has worked on sound reinforcement with acoustic bassists knows how obsessive we can be about gear, debating endlessly on "best" setup. In truth, choices are highly dependent on...Read More...
Hi bobm, I suspect there are many "more commonly used pairings of pickup/mic", but I doubt that they are any better suited for your intended application than the mic and preamp https://ehrlund.se/product/eap-system/ you are currently using. Acoustic upright bass can be susceptible to resonate interference if placed too close to the amplified source, so position of the bass module(s) / bass instrument should be considered if feedback becomes a problem. Bluetooth transmitter solution - for T1 to S1 Pro

Looking to purchase an S1 Pro. I already have an L1 Model 2 that has really been a game changer for me the last few years. What I'm looking for advice on is a way to extend the coverage of my L1 on occasions wirelessly to the S1 Pro. I can obviously do this with a cable, but seeing as the S1 Pro has bluetooth - can anyone recommend a simple solution that I can connect the master from my T1 tonematch to transmit the same signal to the S1 Pro - say at the other end of room for coverage? I've...Read More...
Just ran across this on another Bose thread, this is similar to what I mentioned the guy at my cousin's wedding was using: https://www.altoproaudio.com/p...cts/stealth-wireless Same price as the Galaxy, but this has two receivers vice one and you can set them to left and right, or set the transmitter to mono so each gets the full mix. Unfortunately (fortunately?) only AC power on the receivers, but you'd need power for the S1 anyway. Alto's pretty popular in the educational and corporate...Read More...

Vocal Sound Quality

Oldghm
After many hours of use I have come to the personal conclusion that the S1 Pro has the best, or perhaps the most satisfying, vocal sound of all the L1 series of systems. Using the same mics, I find the S1 more responsive, more sensitive to vocal nuance than anything I have ever used previously and delivers a full rich sound with impressive clarity. I'm courious if anyone else agrees, and I'm courious if the difference is in the preamp, preset / eq, or the output / speaker section of the...Read More...
My favourite genre to perform is country and I use a Shure Beta 87A with two L1 systems. Have both the radio and cable version of the same mic - vocal clarity is supreme and the polar pattern of the "A" version keeps me very nicely protected from feedback.Read More...

Mics and other gear I use with the L1 Compact

I have dozens of SM57's and SM58's for those that prefer them. My personal preferences are the Sennheiser E935 and Heil PR35, as they have superior frequency bandwidth, superior gain before feedback and mostly because I despise eating a microphone. My vocals have been described as a cross between Johnny Cash, , Mike Pinera, Tom Jones, Don Ho and Vicente Fernandez and all acoustically non-enhanced. Soft female vocals also work better with the Senneiser E935 and Heil PR35. One's lips can be up...Read More...
Along with being a performing artist, I'm also a live sound engineer, @banjoman . I use microphones requested by the artists. The SM 58's are requested by most. Different voices are brought out by many microphones. Some voices need that mid-range boost. Mine does not. My point is that most artists do not experiment with many other microphones to match/enhance their vocals.Read More...

Let's share some knowledge and help each other out. What are you using when a hard wired connection is not practical between your Bose systems. For example: Connecting an L1 Compact to another L1 Compact in a remote location Connecting an S1 Pro system to another S1 Pro system in a remote location Connecting an L1 Compact to an S1 Pro system in a remote location Connecting the Aux or Main Outputs from a ToneMatch mixer to an L1 Compact or S1 Pro system or L1 in a remote location I've been...Read More...
I use the Shure qlxd bodypack guitar transmitter hooked into the T1. Receiver sits ontop of L1 base. The sound quality is the exact same as wired. I use it to run signal to F1 subs as well. Can get close to 500 feet.Read More...

Hello, Kaare. I'm sorry, this cannot be changed. Try this: Select the channel you will most likely need to change next. That might be the lead vocalist's vocal, or the most important instrument. Then set the Rotary Selector to feature you will most likely need to change - e.g. zEQ. Bose Pro Community AdminRead More...

Feedback with L1 Compact, T1 and floor monitor

I can't solve the feedback problem with the new L1, T1 with a floor monitor, Gibson acoustic, Zager acoustic, Pg58 & SM58 mics. I've put the L1 behind, beside and in front but can't get enough volume without squeal. I've turned the monitor off and it didn't solve the problem. By the end of the second set we lost 50 customers out of the 150 attendance. What settings do I have wrong? Edit Subject: Previously "Feedback" Bose Pro Community AdminRead More...
No worries, @Daniel Pray. I figured that was the case. Jake Shimibukuro used to stuff the sound hole of his tenor 'ukulele with crumpled newspaper to help control feedback early on in his career. Also, try one of these on your monitor's AC plug, as a ground loop can also cause squeal between your Bose L1 Compact and your monitor:Read More...

Wired headset Mic squawk problem with L1 compact

My hardwired countryman headset mic works fine when I plug it into my Roland Cube for vocal volume over my accordion but when I plug it into the TM connected to my L1C every 10 min or so there's a loud sqwuak. Using a TC Helicon Voicelive GTX with and L1 (model 1)

Hi I have purchased a reconditioned L1 model 1 with 2 x B1's today to replace my LD Maui 28. In the past I have mixed using an Alesis MultiMix 8 USB FX. At this stage I haven't got a T1 but am considering purchasing one. I use backing tracks, play guitar and sing (using an AKG wireless headset mic and guitar bug). The outputs from my TC Helicon are XLR and I would like to know if I can plug these directly into channels 1 and 2 on the L1 or is there a better solution? I also have a worry...Read More...
Well. I did the gig last night and there was a last minute change of venue to a much smaller room. This meant working at a much lower volume than normal. Had I known I would have taken my small Roland BA 330. However, the set up performed flawlessly. I could hear every detail. It was described as 'crystal' by the owner of the venue. To say I'm pleased is an understatement. OcheyeRead More...

T4S Power Consumption

What is the power consumption of the T4S? I'm trying to figure out if I can use a portable battery, such as the EcoFlow River to run this. If so, then I would be 100% off the grid, which would be incredible, when combined with my S1 Pros.Read More...
I've been considering making a battery PSU for a T1. Has anyone tried this? Would presumably just require a pair of 18V Lithium batteries packs wired for +18 and -18 volts. It is a shame that Bose don't make one - or didn't change to using an external 12V PSU for the upgraded T8.Read More...

DI Boxes Required For My Setup?

Hello Everyone, So I just bought a L1M2(T1B2) from my friend and am curious about hooking non XLR instruments up to the T1. I will be running 4 lines into this for my acoustic project. SM58, Godin A6 Ultra (coming from a Shure GLXD16 Wireless), Beta 52A, Moog Sub Phatty (This is the order they are plugged in). Now I'm curious about my A6 (channel 2), and Moog (channel 4/5). Do I need a DI box with these? Or are the T1 combo/line in jacks designed to play nice with guitar cables? I only have...Read More...
Unbalanced cables are perfectly acceptable up to 20-25 feet, and even after that you only start losing highs due to cable capacitance (Eddie Van Halen uses a 50'+ cable because he likes how it affects the sound of his guitar...probably because he doesn't have a tone control on his guitar so he can't roll off the highs there, lol). Anyway, a DI's purpose is simply to balance an unbalanced signal to allow it to be run over long distances (i.e. to the mixer at the back of the concert hall).Read More...

S1 Pro logo

Hi, I was rotating the logo on my S1 Pro, and it snapped in half. Also the back part of it is now rattling around inside the grill. I called tech support, and they said the logo is not sold (or available) separately, and the grill is non-removable - so how do I repair this? I was told I could send it in for repair, but physical damage would not be covered under warranty. Any suggestions? Thought I'd ask the Pro specialists. Thanks!Read More...

Which system would be better?

Hi, The folks I work for are needing a PA to amplify Christmas carolers in both outdoor and indoor settings. (maximum capacity around 200 people and a distance of 40 feet). There will be 8 wireless mics for male and female vocals mixed into the system. Would an L1 model 2 be enough for this, or should I consider the F1 line? My concern with the L1 is that 8 vocals is too many as I know in a perfect world, "each source would have its own L1". My concern with the F1 is that it's a tad overkill...Read More...
Hello, Chris. Thank you for your question. Assuming that people in the audience could be in a semi-circle in front of the singers (200 people within 40 feet), the L1 Model II is a better choice. If your singers use good microphone technique, you should be okay. Please see this article for more information. Microphone Feedback Does that answer your question? S1 Pro cannot drive a drum machin!

Hi, Just got my new two sets of S1 Pro. They are sound fantastice when I drive them via the bluetooth in a stereo mode, but when I connect them to one of my drum machines (that also has a a Bass guita sounds), the 61/2" driver gets into saturation in relative low volume. I play a guitar (mostly electronics) with two synth guitar , drum machines, vocals and bass guitar in a relative small room - 12ft x x15ft. It seems that the S1 PRO was not designed for my application. I concider replacing...Read More...
Moshik, we talking about the same issue. The problem is in the low frequencies. I just wouldn't get so far that the S1 isn't able to be a full range speaker within reasonable limits. You can get quite loud with canned music (including kickdrums and bass). That kind of music is highly compressed/limited. A drum computer ofen not so. Also I'd say that you can set your lowcut to 60-70Hz instead of 100Hz and still get rid of a big load while it can sound ok for busking. And if your drumcomputers...Read More...
