T8S mixer - reverb and delay

I have upgraded my mixer to T8s. Have been using T1 ToneMatch for many years. I have been experimenting with t8s but not getting the same sound and warmth that I get with T1. To begin with I have kept all the setting same as T1 on T8s; specifically Delay and Reverb. THat's my starting point and then I started tweaking to get the same sound as T1. My voice sounds very dry and it looses the volume if I a move even little bit away from the microphone which was not the case with T1. Any...Read More...
Hi Shaime, I treat Reverb and Delay as effects. That is, I start with the signal dry and add as little as necessary (if any at all) to get a good sounding result. I find the L1 models can create pleasant side reflections when running at performance volume in a good sized room. There's lots of natural reverb, so I don't usually add more. I place a high priority on clarity and intelligibility. Reverb and Delay diminish both, so I don't use them unless I am trying to recreate a specific sound.Read More...

Sound quality of single F1 vs S1 pro

I'm looking for thoughts/opinions on how a single F1 would compare I sound quality to an S1 Pro. I understand many of the differences/pros and cons of each speaker and a lot of boils down to the needs of the venue but I'm interested in knowing if I would be better off using one F1 as FOH along with an S1 as a monitor or using 2 S1 speakers. Would sound QUALITY be comparable? This application would be for solo acoustic guitar and vocalist and possible a second acoustic guitar and vocalist at...Read More...
Great points made and based a number of gigs this year, Chet 3 is right on form my experience with my band. When I play indoors, 2 S1s on poles slightly behind us and off to the side work, great as FOH/Monitor and in some venues I have been asked to turn down . When outside, the S1s are used as monitors and the F1s as FOH.Read More...

3 Bose S1 speakers and a T4S

Hello, I fell in love with the S1 so much that I bought three of them. I play acoustic gigs in small bars and coffee houses and this is perfect for it. My issue is that I like to have people sit in when I play, whether another guitar, vocal, mandolin, etc. Im looking to buy either a T1S, T4S, or T8S. I'd like to use one S1 for the L and R mains and one as a monitor. Before I invest can anyone point me in the right direction. Is it even possible to link all three together and have a nice pa...Read More...
Hi again Matt, Once you have the first S1 Pro working, you can add the other two connected to Left Output and the Aux Output. Use the settings you had on the first S1 Pro for the others. When you are turning things on, start with the ToneMatch Mixer (with Master Volume Off). Then turn on the S1 Pro systems. When everything is powered on, you can bring up the ToneMatch mixer Master Volume. When shutting down, turn off the S1 Pro systems first. Then you can turn off the ToneMatch mixer. STRead More...

S1 update problems

Hi, I got a S1 yesterday and wanted to update the speaker today. The speaker connects to my Surface computer, firmware is recognised (5.07) but when I want to update I get the message "we lost connection". Any ideas? Thank you PeterRead More...
Hi again ST. Good news - all fixed. I had another try using Internet Explorer - the upgrade to Ver 7.0 proceeded to completion, Bose Connect now operational. A suggestion for clarification re the link mentioned above: S1 Pro Amber Light on Channel 1 My initial expectation was that after Step 7 the unit would reset to its status before the upgrade attempt and would be operational with blue lights. That wasn't the case - no blue, and the amber light was still on Ch1, but the firmware upgrade...Read More...

Mobil DJ and Karaoke

I would like to hear from Mobil DJs and KJs that have used 1 or 2 S1’s at small to medium sized parties do you have any videos you can post the only video I saw was from a 55 plus party playing country and 50’s and 60’s music thank youRead More...
I’ve done a beach party and 2 pool parties, both had no power available so battery was a must. 2 in Stereo is WAY better than 1 (or even 2 in dual mono), but does force you to use Bluetooth to do it. Which can get glitchy, since it’s Bluetoth... but these speakers have a very robust connection wirelessly, just don’t forget and walk off with your iPad to talk!Read More...

My S1 is dead…

RobJVM
I haven't really begun to dig into this but I'm posting in the hope that someone else has had a similar experience and might say "oh yeah, it's this…" I frequently use my S1 as a personal monitor at low volume acoustic solo gigs. I am plugged into it from the output of a ToneMatch mixer. Not red-lining the S1 channel at all. Finished a set, came back from my break last and the power light is off. Thought maybe someone bumped the switch but it was in the on position. The unit was a little bit...Read More...

Setting up Stereo Keyboards

Hi, Was hoping someone could guide me. Just got 3 L1 Model 2 systems with 1 T1 and 2 T4S mixers for my band. 4 musicians. 4 Mics, 2 Stereo Keyboards, 1 Guitar, Electronic Drums (could run stereo), Bass guitar. To start we are not putting the bass through the L1. He has a rig and is bringing it. Can someone give advice on the best way to run the systems. We do want to run the Keys in stereo. Drums optional and everything else mono. Any help greatly appreciated. GrazRead More...

Mixer to F1 recommended setup

I am the new owner of an F1 system (one 812 and one subwoofer unit). I will be running everything into this system from a Yamaha MG10XU mixer. The Yamaha, of course, has L and R stereo outs, both XLR and TRS. I am curious about the best connection setup between the mixer and the 812. I have an XLR splitter which could plug into the L/R outs on the mixer and then run one cable into Input 1 on the 812. Or I could run separate cables from the L/R outs on the mixer and then go into both Input 1...Read More...

T1 tone match with TC Helicon Harmony Gxt and Boss RC300 looper

Hey Crew! I am planning on purchasing the T1 tone match, to use with my L1 1S with a TC Helicon Gxt Harmonizer and Boss RC 300 looper. I want to take advantage of the microphone presets in the T1 while also triggering the harmonizes on my TC, and am trying to figure out how it will all connect. Can I run the preamp out of the T1 channel my mike is plugged into, into the input of the harmonizer, and then run the output that contains only the harmonies back into a separate T1 input? Or I could...Read More...

Using S1 Pro as a stage monitor

I have my first gig this Sat with my L1 Compact and T1. I have been using it a lot at home but won't have a chance to try it at the venue until sound check the afternoon before the show (rectangular building...20 x 60 and stage is at the small end of the rectangle looking down towards the bar). If I need to use a monitor with my L1 Compact (using Line out of the L1) due to feedback at high volume I would like to use my S1 Pro as a monitor. I purchased my L1 Model 1S a couple years ago and as far as I can tell. the power stand has gone out. I have called for the last 6 months and was passed around from person to person, also tried the e-Mail route and never a response. When I talk to them. I tell them if they can't fix it, please just let me know if I can purchase, just the power stand and where. Has anybody else had this problem with Bose and what did you to to correct it. T4s

Hi Gang What is the score with the new T4s? I am told it operates in stereo so essentially if I bought one I could run both my Compacts in full stereo? I was always given to understand that running stereo live is not a particularly good idea especially if using backing tracks. Surely if I operated in stereo my audience would need to be right in the middle to benefit from true stereo! So what would a user actually gain upgrading from a T1 to a T4s? I am tempted but is it really necessary. GeoffRead More...
Hi Geoff There are many many PA systems offering stereo functionality and a great number of bands using stereo - which makes the T4S in stereo mode no different in principle. You can if you want adopt lazy stereo if using an iPad for any backing music by setting up the T4S with both channels panned left and right BUT flick the output mode on the iPad to mono or stereo as and when you need. I prefer to leave it stereo on the iPad and choose from three presets I put on the T4S. 1. Single L1...Read More...

Microphone Feedback with T8S, two L1 Model II with B2

This is helpful, thank you. I'm hoping that you can help us with the biggest challenge our 4 piece rock back has had from using the T8S and two L1 II system/B2 bass which is microphone feedback. We have done all you recommend on the video in the past, but unless our main vocalist is physically blocks the mic from the speakers, we get huge feedback. We have noticed if we turn the trim way down, we get less feedback. I don't like doing that however, because I'm guessing we are compromising the...Read More...

F1 Model 812 Line Out - Post EQ?

Hi Smitty, Yes. I'm sorry, you'll have to set the volume on the second F1 Model 812 by ear. You can't assume the center detent is Unity (more on that below). But even if it was Unity, if the reason you are running your source to the F1 Model 812 is to add gain, setting the volume at Unity wouldn't add any gain. Unity? The concept of Unity doesn't quite apply here because there's no input trim control on the F1 Model 812 and, you've got different outcomes depending on whether you use balanced...Read More...

Hi Nick, I’m a recent S1 owner myself and have been quite impressed by the quality of sound. I’ve used a L1 Model 2 for many years, but was looking for a smaller system for those smaller scale events and with battery power. I had been looking at a variety of options, but nothing came close to the quality of Bose system I’m used to until the S1. I’ve also found other uses for it beyond what my original intent was. It’s been just fun to use and have. Enjoy and let us know about how your gig...Read More...

Phantom Power solutions for the S1 Pro

LarryM2
I use my Bose S1 Pro yesterday at a practice/jam session. I am using a Shure KSM8 and it works great, but when I plugged in my Shure 87A it didn't work! It's because the Shure 87A requires phantom power... and it is not available on the Bose S1 Pro. If I'm not mistaken I believe there's an adapter out there somewhere. I just thought I'd mention it here for some discussion. Edit title: Previously "Microphones" — Bose Pro Community AdminRead More...

L1 compact problem.

Hi I own two l1 compact towers and have tried all the obvious changing tops and extensions and even the power lead. The problem is the xlr channel even with nothing connected has a crackle. Not just the gain hiss which both have but the xlr channel when I put the volume up at any level has a static crackling that is intermittent but constant. Hoping it's an easy fix ? Many thanksRead More...

Diminished output from L1 Model II

I purchased an L1 Model II with two B1 modules back in 2009. Approximately 3 years ago, the power stand went out and I sent it in for repairs. Everything was working well with the unit until about 2 weeks ago when I was doing an outdoor show and noticed that I could not get sufficient volume from the unit unless the both the channel and master volumes were practically all the way up. And even at those settings, the volume output is about a third of what the system normally puts out and when...Read More...
