Tonematch settings

Hi, I'm new here and hoping I can get some help with the T1 settings. I just purchased the Bose L1 compact and the T1 a couple of weeks ago. So far i LOVE it! But i just don't know how to set up the T1 settings to get the best sound possible. I've been playing music for years and have had limited experience with sound. It's always been, turn buttons and see how it sounds. So I don't understand what the numbers mean regarding the highs, lows, mids, etc, and where they should be set. I know...Read More...

Which L1 product to choose???

We have a room that measures about 10m long by 5m wide. We'll have a keyboard, guitar and 1-2 mikes for singers, with at times about 40-50 people singing along as well ... Would the L1 Compact system at £849 be powerful enough for this application? If not, what would you suggest? Thanks.Read More...

How exactly do I update my Tonematch and firmware/powerstand?

Hi guys, this might be silly, but I just can't get seem to get the updater software nor the firmware updates installed properly. I can download the files, and the tells me where the extracted files are going to be put, but when I go in there and open the updater it defaults to .bos files and tells me there are no files of that type. Am I doing something that's wrong? I've been at this for ages and it just seems that the computer just doesn't want to recognise the Bose Components. Any help is...Read More...

L1 Model 2 Power Stand No Sound after failed Firmware Update

I have an L1 model model 2 with tone match. Last night i did and update of the Firmware, both of the ToneMatch and The L1 Model 2. I appears however that the L1 update was interrupted. I took the system to a memorial function today but to my dismay I couldn’t get sound from the L1 Model 2 and the ToneMatch says that the power stand is not connected. I’ve tired several times to do a power cycle, re-download and redo the update but it has totally failed. Please help I am in Zimbabwe. I had...Read More...
Hi Chris I sent back the second new PS to the UK and they repaired it for free. I’m still stuck with the first one, the 110Volt one which had a failed firmware update, I’ve sent it to South Africa’s Alpha Tech who do Bose products but they seem not to have an idea of what needs to be done. They say the 110V Systems are sensitive to power surges and maybe something else is affected but I know it’s just a failed Firmware Update which can be resolved at a capable service Centre. you had said...Read More...

@ RDHmusic asked this in another thread. I've started a new thread for his question so as not to derail the original thread. "I just got the L1 and T1 with the B2. I need to have two mics, two acoustic guitars, and one Zoom Drum box. Which ones should I hook up to 4/5? " Hi RDHMusic, if by L1 you mean a Model II, I would try this out. T1: Channel 1: Mic 1 (using preset if available - if not try out different presets and tweak until you're happy) Channel 2: Mic 2 (using preset if available -...Read More...

I sometimes have the impression that some users think that buying a T1 will immediately solve all problems. Connect microphone or guitar select a preset and someone waves a magic wand and everything's perfect. After nearly 50 years of gigging experience I know that this just can't work. Each person sees things differently. Tastes and preferences aren't (thankfully) identical. Therefore the way that e.g. a particular Taylor guitar should sound (and, please note, this is only an example) might...Read More...

T1 ToneMatch not working

Hello, I have a few L1 model II systems and 2 T1 ToneMatch mixers. Just the other day, I plugged a ToneMatch into the L1 via the Cat-5 cable for power and signal, flipped the switch, the lights came on and before I could play anything through it, it went blank with no lights and a blank display. I tried my other ToneMatch with the same L1 and cable, and the other one works fine. I noticed when the broken one is on, the entire LCD screen flashes very faintly every 4 seconds. BOSE L1 Compact Volume Problem

Been extremely happy with my L1 Compact for 10 years. However, I am now experiencing the following problem: The output volume (when the RCA or 1/8" input is used) suddenly and dramatically INCREASES IN VOLUME to become unbearable. The volume remains too loud even when turned down to the lowest setting. I notice this occurs usually after 15+ minutes of use. Also, when this happens - touching the volume dial will result in a noticeable and brief static sound as the dial is touched or moved.Read More...

Adding powered speaker to L1 Compact

Hello - love my Compact (we run two mics and one electro-acoustic guitar via small Yamaha MG06X analog mixer) but for very noisy venues not quite loud enough or getting too much 'red'... I have just purchased a powered Yamaha speaker (MSR250) and before I invest in new, longer leads would really like to know which is the best way of connecting from the following ways unless there is another better way still...! 1) 2 x 1/4" balanced jack leads (or XLR...?) from Left and Right Outputs on mixer...Read More...
Hi Rich and ST, I've found this thread very interesting as I have set up similarly with my L1 Compact, one or two of my Yamaha DXR10 powered speakers and my Yorkville passive 8 channel mixer. I've also often used my T1 mixer in the following manner; T1 to channel 2 line in on my Compact using a tip ring 1/4" cord. From the Compact out I use a 1/4" tip ring to the XLR in on the Yamaha using an adapter on the Yamaha end. I did this assuming I would get the same T1 signal going to both the...Read More...

How to tell if a second B1 is wired and working properly

I have a Bose L1 1S with B1 and just purchased a second B1. When I plug it in and I'm running both B1's it doesn't sound much different at low volumes (maybe even less bass). Is this normal? I am in an apartment and have not been able to run it at a high volume yet. Is there a way to tell if it is all wired correctly? Also, is there a rule of thumb when I should add the 2nd B1? (maybe only outside or when playing larger venues When do most L1 users add the second B1?Read More...
Yes, this helps a lot! I play out on Cape Cod in bars and restaurants as well as for weddings and party. Im a one man band (acoustic guitar, vocals, looping, harmonica). I also have a traditional system Yamaha Stagepas 600i but I wanted to upgrade to the Bose L1 to try the "articulated array" ... I have noticed at the events I play for the sound is too loud near up front and too weak near the back - hence the Bose L1 1S. L1 compact

what size is the bass speaker in the L1 compact? I am currently running 2 - 1/4" line outs from my mixer to the channel 2 input via a 'y' cord. would I be better off converting the inputs to individual RCA 's and using the RCA inputs? I was considering also running one 1/4" into ch 2 and the other with an XLR into ch 1. has anyone run a line output into the ch 1 input without any problems?Read More...
Hi Resident71, Thank you for joining the Community. The speaker in the L1® Compact Power Stand is 8" in diameter. Better? You may not hear a difference. However, your y-cord is probably shorting the outputs of your mixer together. That's probably not ideal. L1® Compact Channel 1 has a ToneMatch Preset engineered for a vocal microphone. It is permanently wired into Channel 1 and cannot be defeated like you can using the Line Level switch on Channel 2. We have an article that covers all these...Read More...

L1® Model II with B2 and T1® :Stops making sound for a few seconds then comes back on

I have been experiencing this exact problem with my L1, Model II with B2 and Tonematch. I have been trying to work with the Bose Tech Support folks for one year this month, and I'm no closer to resolving this issue. The Bose people as individuals have been great, but after at least six lengthy phone calls trying to troubleshoot this problem, I have come to believe that they know they have a flawed design, but are trying to dance around that reality. This "shutdown problem" appears to be an...Read More...
