Are the T4S and L1 Compact a good option on this scenario?

Hi all, My girlfriend is starting her career as a singer performer artist and I want to make her a surprise by purchasing her some equipment. She is mainly a jazz/bossa-nova singer. (but sometimes she also sings “faster/louder” songs) Currently, she is singing in different hotels. And she would like to have her own equipment not to be so dependent of the existing equipment onsite . For sure she will need a mixer to connect her 2 microphones, her laptop (mac) and the speaker(s). She uses the...Read More...
Hi MiguelBap, Thank you for the update. This is wonderful news. That's an inciteful observation. You can't fix what you can't hear however with the right gear, you can be inspired to improve. I hope you get to hear her soon. Yes, she can use the individual volume knobs for channels 3 and 4. Thanks again for the update. STRead More...

DV Mark Little Jazz into Tonematch

Greetings from a new member. I play an Epi Byrdland into a DV Mark Little Jazz amp and would like to run that into the Tonematch and Compact L1. Any suggestions?Read More...
Performance done at Lynagh's Irish Pub Lexington, Ky. Sunday 5:00 - 8:00. The set-up connections work very well as described. L1 Compact array was placed about 6' behind and between vocalists (keyboard and guitar) with mic stands about center line so the mics were turned outward away from direct projection of the speaker array. No feedback problems at all and the Bose easily handled the necessary volume. Having dedicated instrument amps run through T1 and L1 compact at lower levels than...Read More...

Should I use one or 2 L1 M2s for speaking engagement? Mixer for 2 or 3 Systems?

Greetings, I have upgraded my video production business to include audio support. I recently purchased one L1 M2 w/B2 and have just found a used 2nd L1 M2 w/two 2B1 subs that appears to be in good shape as a backup. I've been contracted to provide sound support (2 mics: 1 lapel plus 1 handheld for speeches and announcements) for a retreat at a conference center. The room's dimensions are 40 ft x 100 ft with 15 ft ceilings. There will be approx 300 people in the room to include families with...Read More...
Hi, jlowe, Your diagramming skills are fine. I just needed a little more information. Here are a couple of ideas. We're trying to reduce the amount of sound getting to the microphones. A. Keep L1 systems inside (more even coverage front to back) Note: The AA speakers are optional. Ideally, you would set them up with digital delay (approximately 70 milliseconds) to synchronize the sound with the L1 systems at the front. B. Use the F1 systems inside (louder up front, not as loud in the back)...Read More...

settings for a Porchboard Bass with the t4 and b2

Hi, I have a small Porchboard bass I use to tap a beat with my foot while gigging, (its a kick drum sound), and recently I've been hearing some of the sound coming from the tower speakers, and the rest of it from the sub. I'm not sure why this is happening only recently, but perhaps my settings have changed on the t4 inadvertently. How can I send that entire signal to the sub alone? The tower speakers sound like they are struggling with the punch. -JoeyRead More...
Hi Joey, Does your PorchBoard have a three position tone switch? If so, experiment with that. Also - please watch the trim light on the T4S or you can look at the Prefs | Input Levels screen If the trim flickers red or the meter goes all the way to the top when you tap the PorchBoard, turn down the trim. S1 Pro red light for 2-3 seconds

Hello I have a question that may be too basic but I hope you'll still help illuminate me. I've recently bought S1 pro and I love it. I use it for gigs with just one acoustic guitar and vocal. Last week we played a small venue when we had two RCFs and used S1 as a floor monitor. Two singers needed to be heard so through a simple mixer there went a mix of two vocals (one of them had some reverb as effects loop we used Lexicon MX300) via TS jack into S1 Pro's first input. We also played some...Read More...
Hi nightoul, Flashes of red: You are approaching clipping Solid red: You are clipping, but it may not be audible At this position in the signal chain (input sensitivity for a power amp), the concept of unity gain is not all that useful. The concept is most useful when considering a device that is between two others (e.g., an EQ unit between a mixer and a power amp). There is gain available to support input sources with low signal strength like microphones and guitars with passive pickups.Read More...

L1 Model II, should we get a B1 or B2?

There seems to be some really useful info here so I'm hoping someone can advise. We're a two-piece band considering buying a Bose L1 system for convenience and quality. Our current set-up is electric base (through a 100w Fender Rumble), electro-acoustic guitar, drum machine (BeatBuddy) and two voices through a 200w amp/PA and speakers on stands. I'm thinking LI model II, but don't know what bass speaker/s to go for. We can play from small pubs to outside events. Hope someone can make some ...Read More...

Ideal T1 Tonematch Settings for Female Vocalist

Hi Everyone...We're fairly new users to the Bose Systems...we have the L1 Model ii Systems with the T1 Tonematch. My wife is a single performer artist (song writer/singer/guitarist). For our home recording Studio, we're using a Zoom 5N Stereo Recording Unit with 4 inputs. We're plugging into the T1 directly with a high end AKG mic and Fender Strat iis being picked up with the on-board Sterio mics on the 5N..from the Fender Twin Reverb Amp. The Zoom 5N is quite a good unit for a Home studio...Read More...

Stereo Capability using a projector or live music to two F1 Model 812 systems

Hi, I am new to this stuff and need expert advice. I want to do outdoor projections for a 200+ people crowd. Since I will project movies, videos or do live music, I’m interested in stereo capabilities and placing one speaker in each side of the screen. I am wondering if I can have two F1s. One LEFT and the other one RIGHT. I read this is possible; however, I do not know how. Do I need a mixer for this? Or can I do it pretty basic. For example, projector has a 3.5mm audio output. Can use a...Read More...
Hi Dio, Sounds like a great event. Are you extending invitations? Additionally for movies, consider adding the F1 subwoofer below each F1. In addition to elevating the height of the 812, this will add some extra "thump" to the movie content. Enjoy. MarcRead More...

Hello, I am a ''schooled'' guitar player and I decided to take singing lessons and practice seriously. I have a real pro coach at the moment for singing. The style of music ranges from Humperdink, Sinatra, Sacha Distel and also French singers Cabrel, Aznavour. I equally like 70-80 songs and use primeraly MP3 back tracks. I also found that the S1 is very efficient with a Nylon String Guitar; I have a Takamine Michi which sound very good in this system.Read More...

Have a T1. Should I get a T4S or T8S?

troubador
I've been trying to read up on the T4/T8 mixers as I'm considering buying one or the other. (Also considering buying a second S1 because ... well because they're so easy to use .) I currently have a T1 (plus an external power supply) which was bought with my L1/M2. It works really well with the S1 as well - except I need power to run the T1, so I can't use it when busking (using the S1 on battery power). As a solo singer/guitarist there are enough inputs on the T1 for my needs. More channels...Read More...
@ST As always, you've given me clarity on the points I raised and also things to think about. Thank you. I was actually considering selling the T1 after getting a T4/T8 ... now you've made me think about that too! @Chet What a super explanation. Thank you so much for taking so much time to help out. That is very kind of you. (I should add that I had hum problems on the 1002B both while using it on AC power and on batteries. Even took it to the dealer who replaced it once.) Best way to connect (3) L1 M2 systems

Greetings! I've now purchased my 3rd (used) L1 M2 system in the last month. One of the systems came with a T1 mixer which I'm finally getting acquainted with. So far the ease of set up and performance have been great! I've had 2 conferences where I used 2 L1's but my next event is a religious retreat where I'll need 2 L1's in one room and a third in an adjacent outdoor area. The main room is 40 ft x 100 ft with the lecturer on one of short 40ft walls. No stage or platform, so each is on the...Read More...

Using L1 2 / 2 B1s as a monitor with 2 powered speakers

Our four player band is playing outdoors in large space. Two lead singer/guitarists; bass player and percussionist. We don’t believe a single L1 will be sufficient. We use a T8S. We plan to place two 15 inch powered speakers out front, just ahead of the mics. We would place the L1 behind us in the middle of the stage for a monitor and more sound to the audience. Is it possible to use the cocktail party effect with this set up? Also, how can we get separate volume controls for the L1 and...Read More...
Hi Larry, Thanks for all the information. No. For the Cocktail Party Effect you need multiple loudspeakers (typically behind the performers). Each sound source should be heard through only one loudspeaker. Use the T8S Master Outputs: One side (e.g., left) to L1 The other side (e.g., right) to the powered loudspeakers Control the relative volume (L1 vs. powered loudspeakers) using the individual channel pan controls OR Use the T8S Aux Output to set up a separate mix Main mix to powered...Read More...

Hello, My Bose S1 Pro is now approximately twelve months old and is used regularly on battery power, normally recharged when discharged to 50% (two indicator flashes). I play out using both main channels (no bluetooth) for mic & guitar; both set at roughly half gain. I have noticed recently a volume drop out (overall/both channels), that seems to slowly return to normal after a short time. At the time of posting, I am draining the battery fully and will then recharge normally to full...Read More...

Problem increasing volume on channel 2 of L1 compact

Hi all This is my first post so I hope you can help. I’m a violinists playing through my own L1 compact in a band whilst the singer/guitarist plays through his own L1 compact. He manages to be louder than my instrument and I’m wondering why. I usually have channel 2 set at about 1 O’clock and that’s more than adequate. Over the weekend we played a larger venue and I attempted to turn the volume to about 3 O’clock and the peak indicator came on and the sound distorted. So assuming my input...Read More...

Why does T4S sound better than other mixers when connected to L1M2

I am comparing six mixers in a blind test for use with two L1M2 w/B2 The first L1M2 is connected to a B2; The second L1/M2 has a dummy TRS cable in the bass output. My audio source is a computer with two XLR outs L/R playing various uncompressed audio and vocal tracks. The testing room is about 50' by 60'. Hi Marianu, I don't have any specifications or technical data to share on this topic. However, I can tell you the ToneMatch Mixers were engineered to work with the other Bose Portable PA products. There's an element of art as well as science that goes into Bose products. You can detect that as you listen to all of the Bose Portable PA systems. As different as they are, they still have a characteristic sound. STRead More...

S1 Dead Battery and System Powering Down
