Large Outdoor Gig with F1 System?

Hi... Just booked a large outdoor event coming up in two weeks. Details: Outdoor auto show Live band - duo with acoustic/electric guitars and backing tracks playing dance/country/classic rock Stage/canopy Last years attendance near festival epicenter/food & beverage area over 2000 people [I did not do the gig last year - a similar duo did and they used the Yorkville Paraline system - two tops/two subs per side]. Question/discussion: I have never used the Bose F1 system for a venue this...Read More...
Hi Roger, Yes, you're right. Different input source, same problem. No solution. Sorry. When I tried the iPad via the Lightning adapter, this bypassed volume control on the iPad. The digital signal was at full volume. I had no control the volume on the iPad. To control the volume from the iPad on the T1®, you have to route the USB from PC signal through Channel 4/5. You won't be able to use Channel 4/5 for the guitar. STRead More...

How many inputs can an L1S handle?

rpboy
I am doing a gig with 4 vocals, two electric guitars, a keyboard, and drum kit. I am planning to mic all the instruments (including vocals and keyboard) and a mic on the bass drum. The music is 60's British invasion so no monster bass or overwhelming sound is needed. The room where I'll use the L1S holds 225 people. I would like some feedback as to whether I could use one L1S or if I need to augment the system. Thanks much!Read More...
Duh...don't know what I was thinking but, yes, of course I could run anything I want up the center..... Sometimes this old brain doesn't run in stereo! BestRead More...

F1 System to Mixer

The setup is: Two F1 arrays with two bose subwoofers, also one Bose L1 with a subwoofer and ToneMatch, and a Behringer XR18 mixer. This concerns my Main Left and Right channels from the mixer: Would I plug into the two subwoofer first instead of plugging into both array speaker? The Bose L1 with sub is used as a monitor and plugged in to the bus input on mixer to the ToneMatch on Mic 1. Too many opinions from band mates to decide how to plug the F1 system into the mixer and we need a solid...Read More...

Intermittent hic-up on power on.

Garry
Good afternoon all. Not a major issue but would like to know if this is a known issue. I have a strict switch on routine (1) Media player. (2) Tone match. (3) Power stand. Every now and again after switch on I see that the display is reading level from the 2 microphones but there is no sound coming from the array or bass unit. I then switch off, then switch on again in sequence, this always seems to work then no further problems. Regards GarryRead More...

running an analog mixer thru Bose L1 Model II Single B2 Bass with T1 Audio Engine and losing a channel

I'm running a Numark analog mixer thru Bose L1 Model II Single B2 Bass with T1 Audio Engine and losing a channel. I run two XLR outs from the Numarks R&L channels, right channel 1 in right, left to ch.2 on the Tonematch. I have the Numark mixer mono setting engaged. However, I am not receiving one of the channels, which is very pronounced in certain songs, (i.e. Beatles - Twist & Shout vocal side is not there). Please advise, TIA!Read More...
Hello Ron, Keep in mind, if the Numark outputs stereo, the T1 will automatically sum to mono but any tracks which are not common to left and right, or not panned center, will not play as loud as the centered tracks. A hard-panned track will sound around 6dB lower than centered tracks which have constructively summed. Either channels 1 and 2 or 4/5 can handle line level signals with little to no difference in sound. A ground loop could be causing the noise you’re hearing. Try to connect all...Read More...

B2 EQ?

Does the B1/B2 require eq (or other 'processing') as well as low pass please? Or to put it another way, is the bass output of my L1M2 power stand EQ'd? I have 402's and a 402 rackmount controller so a proper bass output is available to me from there, with a suitable amp. Thing is, I also have 2xB1's and a B2 that I use with my L1M2 so would love this added flexibility to add the lower octaves to my 402's if required. Anybody know? ( I am a pro with 30+ years so be as technical as you wish)...Read More...
Thanks for your quick response. Ok, so B1 and B2 are good with low pass and no eq (unlike for example MB4). I look forward to hearing my 402's with the B2!Read More...

T1® and Electric Guitar Tone

This is an interesting and friendly forum! Now I have another question regarding my Electric Guitars / PRS. Maybe stupid, however... To obtain a fine sound it's inevitable to use an amplifier or something like a Line 6 Pod isn't it? Of course, the T1 does not provide distortion or crunchy sound. But is there a way to connect the guitar directly into the T1 and turn some knobs to achieve a powerful clean sound?Read More...
Hi Tom, Overdrive in the T1® - wouldn't that have been fun. It would have been handy from time to time, but it would not have replaced my regular guitar rig. I have PA mixer that has some decent Digitech guitar processing built in. That's interesting to have as a backup or to save effort for a quick rehearsal, but it's no replacement for a full rig. Here's an early article about Electric Guitar Research at Bose . It's interesting to see where they drew the line between tone creation (what...Read More...

T1 users with CF guitar - setting suggestions?

Hello, T1 owner (L1s) with a new toy - first for me Carbon Fiber guitar; in this case Journey RT660. Am looking for guidance from other CF guitar owners regarding T1 settings used / suggested. What has worked for you, particularly with smaller body size CF guitars?Read More...
The presets are just custom EQ curves although with the zEQ innovation the Lo, Mid and Hi control frequency bands change depending on the source type, i.e. LO will affect a higher frequency band in a violin preset than it will in a guitar preset. For me at least, the subtle differences are important for my playing; the happier I am with my sound and tones, the better my performances. So, even if my audience doesn't hear the subtle differences, they do benefit from my better performance... MarkRead More...

T1 Tonematch reset itself during performance

I've had my T1 for over a year now and never had and issue until this evening. I was playing a wedding tonight (DJ) when suddenly the T1 seemed to "reset" itself for no reason. This happened during the last 30 minutes of the night and I had been running continuously for almost six hours without an issue. I lost sound for about three seconds, and then the T1 started working again and sound came back on. During the reset, the T1 screen was illuminated but blank, then went back to a normal...Read More...

L1 Model II Power Stand

I have same problem incoherent posted: I have an L1 Model 2 with the B2 Bass System. I brought it with me for use at events, and while on travel, it was mistakenly plugged into a 220V circuit. The local technician informed me that I need p/n 1725-807B+0001 Bose A1 Amplifier DP1.0 Rev 1.0. How can I go about getting this part? I have a few days left till the next event, and would like to get this up and running. The local Bose dealer (Philippines) does not have this item on hand.Read More...

L1 Model II Power Stand - analog input blown

IketheProducer
This is one of the most embarrassing things that I've ever done...had a bar gig where we had to use a lift from the alley to get our gear up to the venue but the staff wasn't ready so we ended up short on time to set up. I'd been using my system as a bass amp and to mic the kick (T1) at smaller venues. The stage space was awfully cramped so our guitarist (who brought his PA) asked to run the monitor out from his powered mixer into my tower to save space since there was no room for wedges.Read More...
Hi Ike, Sorry for the trouble! We've all been there - short on time, mounting pressure.. and suddenly we just did something we wouldn't have if we had had the time to think. Please give us a call at 877-335-2673. We'll take the serial number and determine what the options are. We set up the repairs by phone and email a shipping label that you can use to send the product to our repair facility in Indiana. Hi, Joe! Thank you for joining the Community. Warning Do NOT connect the speaker output of a powered mixer to the Model II Power Stand. You could damage the L1® or the powered mixer, or both. Having said that... Yes, it's okay to connect a mixer (line level output) to the analog input of the Model II Power Stand while connected to the T1® through the ToneMatch port. You need to get a mono output from the mixer. We have some notes about how to do that with most mixers here: Stereo Mixer to...Read More...

Cave Stage - Matt

ST
We've come to call these Cave stages. Suggestions: Move the L1®s forward. More of the sound will project into the room. Turn the L1®s inward. This will help for monitoring. Run the guitar amp at the lowest volume possible that still allows you to develop the tone. Put a microphone on the amp and let the amp be heard through the L1®s. This will allow the guitar to be heard throughout the room without excessive stage volume. STRead More...

2 x Compacts + Tonematch + Music input + microphone + 1 Guitar.

Hi Les, Here's how I would approach the setup: 1) Connect your music source to the T1 ToneMatch Microphone on channel 1 Guitar on channel 2 Music Input on channel 4/5 Here you'd want to use an 1/8" to Dual 1/4" adapter cable (assuming the music source uses an 1/8", or headphone, output). See the first image on this page For a preset, I'd choose one of the DJ/Playback options 2) Connect the T1 to one of the Compacts. Use a balanced (Tip Ring Sleeve) 1/4" to go from the T1's Master Out to...Read More...

T1 Buttons getting "Mushy"

I have a T1 that works beautifully, however when I opened it for use this evening the three "editing control" buttons and the "Phantom Power" button all feel very mushy, and the rubber sticks to my fingers. Using two L1 II systaems for a 7-piece band. Stereo or mono?

We have a seven piece band. We have been using two of the L1 Series II for 7 years. We love them. We are trying to improve our set-up. We used to use two crosswise cables running from the preamp output of one ToneMatch to the Analog input of the opposite power base. This gave us mono output. The same sounds out of each speaker. That way, all the band members hear each other and, if someone in the audience is close to one speaker, they hear all the instruments and voices. Recently, we tried...Read More...
Hi Rick, Here's a take on how I might set your stage. Everything not connected to a T1® would go to the Mackie mixer and panned to hard left or right. I'm not certain about running the guitar in the middle into T1® #1. I'd have to hear how it sounds and check in with the guitarist about the experience of hearing the guitar through one L1® and his/her voice through the other. Have I correctly guessed that the vocalist without an instrument is the lead vocalist? STRead More...
