congrats on the new purchase Monty...I've got to say that on the first several gigs that I planned to use the L1c I carried a traditional system as a backup in the van..ie mackie SRM 450s and mackie 1501 subs..yeah.. Here's a quick video to help you to set the input trim for a microphone on the T1®. This is called Gain Staging. The same principles apply for an instrument or line level input. Paul Schaefer's L1 Set Up

Today I had the privilege of visiting the David Letterman set and learning more about how Paul Schaefer is using the L1 Classic that you have seen beside him for years. The system is fed by a sub-mix of all of Paul’s keys and synths enabling him to hear himself clearly on stage. The band also has an in-ear monitor mix which enables them to talk among themselves and listen to songs as David Letterman is interviewing guests. There is also a printer attached to the laptop so they can print...Read More...

Creative L1 Compact Uses

Ok so it has been over a year since the release of the L1® Compact system and we continue to hear stories about the product being used from everything from military services to fitness classes. How about this for a creative use. Some have been known to call it a hat stand so .... (I know it's not a Compact but it seemed a bit silly to create a new thread just for this and the Modell II just happened to be set up) .... Succeeding in the Performing Arts: Introduction

Ken-at-Bose
Hi Folks, For the past few years, we've had discussions amongst the moderators and others about the idea of collecting our experiences in the performing arts (mostly live music) into some short essays that might help to disseminate the knowledge. The time has come to begin this effort. Each "lesson learned" will be a new thread, whose title will begin with "SUCCEEDING IN THE PERFORMING ARTS" followed by a colon and few words about the topic. L1 Model I - Preset 3.0 Patch (DJ's only)

Attention DJ’s using the L1™ model I system, We recently identified an isolated issue that only affects DJ’s that are using Preset #58 (High Volume Pre Recorded Music) on the L1™ model I system. It was discovered that L1™ model I power stands with a serial number less than 042829Z72550001AC did not accurately contain the advertised preset #58. This preset is specifically intended for DJ’s playing pre recorded music at higher volume levels. Instead, it contained a flat EQ setting which is...Read More...

Monday Night Song Ideas

Tom Munch
Everybody join in on ideas for songs on Monday night. Ken posted a bunch of ideas to get us started on the wiki. If there is a song that you've always wanted to do, or maybe a song that you "own" & would like to do - bring it on. Don't be afraid to do something obscure or interesting. (Keep in mind that the rhythm section will have to back you up, so we need chords - & don't make it too difficult.) Easy songs would be any blues-based tune like "Kansas City". Harder songs would be...Read More...

NATIONAL DJ ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT REVIEW

I just wanted to report on my first weekend of using my new BOSE system. I use the word power in parenthesis because two different meanings for the same word were revealed to me this past weekend. On Friday Night I had an event at my local NFL Stadium out on the field. I have done this event for the previous 4 years so this was my 5th and first with the BOSE system. This is an example of some of the old "Gems" which are turning up since the introduction of the new forum software. The words are as true now as they were then. Here's an example. My wife had a birthday party in January and I set up the Compact+T1 so that I could play easily for our guests and be heard anywhere in our living room which is L-shaped and about 50m2. Due to illnesses and bad weather forecast (snow) the party wasn't too big an affair and I could have played without amplification.Read More...

L1 with F1 subwoofer, but using Aux output

Mic'ing a 4pc drum kit with Model II/B2/T1

I have landed a fill-in gig next month, with a band at a blues festival near St Louis. The band leader has a traditional small PA (Yamaha 12/horn over 18" sub, ZedFX mixer), but wants me to bring my L1 and mic up the drums. I have a small Gretsch jazz kit that I have set up and tuned to NOT be loud. At rehearsal last week, it was apparent, I was going to get buried by the guitars. Hello guys, I was asking myself if anyone had connect the Roland GR-55 to the tonemacht T1. I've read that some use the headphones jack output to the GR-55 to connect ton entry 4 of the Tonematch. Roland recommend output by the OUTPUT L of the GR-55 . And In the tone match, I suppose that we put a flat setting. Thank's JGRead More...

Hi shaime, You can send T1® Channels 1, 2, 3 separately (analog connections) but you'll need some kind of USB interface. OR If you can make do with just two channels, try the T1® USB interface. See: USB port on the T1® for more details. STRead More...

Recently had a client ask us to have a drummer for their event. We called upon a mutual acquaintance from a previous project. We were unsure about the application using a live drummer with tracks. The guy was a versatile player and during a briefing, he said he worked in a couple of tandem drumming outfits in the past and knew how to work the material (secret is: listen to the other drummer, in this case the track, and never apply a fill during the other player's fill) and the combination is...Read More...

T1 mic stand mount

Back in 2010 I bought one and broke it on the first use-- the plastic nub that the clamp grabbed on to. I thought I later read that Bose strengthened them. So I bought one a couple weeks ago. Six uses in, the pin broke (like a watch strap pin). Was fitted perfectly to my mic stand -, too. Just barely snug... Should I try again. A phenomenally terrible designRead More...

2 pair of bose f1 and subwoofer

this setup is easy and very effective http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXPu8ItX010 Edit: Removed unsupported attachment file, replaced with YouTube linkRead More...
in large venues i need more power. the only way to achieve that without phasing issues is one being above the order (bose f1). some people use tripod stand to achieve that good. all i did was order two more bose f1 stands did some cutting and drill two hole to match the M8 thread on top of the f1. i make sure the levels and support are the same as Bose F1 Model 812 being mounted on the F1 Subwoofer.Read More...

Power conversion from USA to Australia

Hi, I recently moved back from the USA to Australia and have shipped my L1 series 2 back with me. I am asking if anyone has used a step up/down converter and if it works without any problems? If so what kind of converter do I need. Bose Australia has said they can convert the unit to Australian standards for $800. Was trying to see if there was a more economical solution. Thank you JimRead More...
Also, as an afterthought..... Why not look at the cost of new power stands? They're available as individual parts without the radiators or subs. Then you could sell the 110v ones back in North America.Read More...

Various pairings

rpboy
I posted a awhile back with some questions regarding using my Bose L1 S for a live band situation. Can't seem to find those so will have to start a new thread. I have a few options regarding an upcoming gig. Here are my questions: Is it better to pair a Bose L1 Classic model with an L1s or rather to pair a Bose L1 model ll with the L1s? Can one run a Bose L1 model ll without a bass bin? Thanks much.Read More...
Hi rpboy, rpboy posted: Thanks so much for your quick response. I appreciate all the info. One last crazy question. Could one use the L1S in conjunction with conventional PA cabinets? Yes - not a crazy idea. For example, the L1S as a monitor placed to the rear of the performance area 6 to7 ft. from the frontline vocalists in conjunction with two JBL 15"/horn full range cabinets placed stage left and right in line (or slightly behind) the frontline vocalists. If I ran a system in this...Read More...

running off a generator

I am being asked to do a wedding using 2 L1 Compacts and a laptop running off a generator for power . The generators would be on the outside of a very large barn and the barn is prewired with several standard outlets to plug into. Will I damage my BOSE or have fluctuations if I try to do that?Read More...
One note about the Honda generators, check ahead of time and don't exceed the wattage specified on the generator because the generator will shut itself off, leaving you without the PA you need.Read More...
