Proper DJ Setup with T1 vs T4 or T8

DJ Cory Barron
Greetings all, This is my first post on the forum. I have number of the Bose professional products, but i'm not sure i'm running them correctly. Typically if i'm using the F1 812 set up I will take the controller straight in. If i'm using the L1MIIB2 its through the T1 as described below. As a DJ I run my controller (Pioneer DDJSX2) main XLR L & R outputs to the T1 in Ch. 1 & Ch. 2 One the T1, I run the master Vol. at 50%, Ch. 1 & Ch. 2 Trim at all the way down & Vol. at 50%...Read More...
ST.....found this from a yr ago during my research..... you note (above) with the T4s (stereo mixer) into one L1 (mono), pan everything hard Right..... you got me thinking: 1) would that be the same for stereo tracks playing back through ch 5&6? pan them hard Right? or is there no panning on ch 5&6? 2) excuse my "tech ignorance" please... if no panning or EQ with ch 5&6, is it possible to send stereo tracks split to ch 3&4, for instance, and then have panning and EQ...Read More...

Can T4 earphone jack safely power S1Pro Aux input?

I'd like to try using the headphone jack in the T4S for monitor output (to aux in on S1Pro) because I expect it to be the same mix as going out the mains, but with its own volume control handy right above the Master volume on the T4S. The manual warns "Headphone Jack - for use with headphones only, with a minimum impedance of 24 ohms". Since the S1Pro aux in handles earphone connection from other devices, is it suitable for connection from the headphone jack of the T4S? Thanks, - Jim MRead More...

S1 Pro Battery included and S1 Pro Backpack for early adopters. May 10 2018

ST
To our valued Bose S1 Pro system customers. Since the introduction of the S1 Pro multi-position PA system four months ago we heard from you, our customers, on how the S1 Pro was meant to be portable, and truly portable by today's standards is equivalent to "without AC power". For this reason we made a change to the S1 Pro product. Starting today (May 10, 2018), the S1 Pro now ships standard with the S1 Battery Pack included and pre-installed. We heard your feedback and are thrilled to make...Read More...

T8S carry case/bag?

I am expecting delivery of the T8S this week. What are you using to protect it during transport? I know it comes with a plastic cover, but so does the T1. But the T1 also has a canvas cover to protect it. It doesn’t look like the T8S has that. Why? What are T8S users using? I’m concerned about banging/scratching it up when traveling to gigs and practice. Is Bose planning to design a cover? I’d appreciate any ideas others have. Thanks, DaveRead More...

T4S ToneMatch Mixer carry case ideas

ST
Hi, How are you carrying your T4S? Do you have an old laptop computer bag? The microphone cases fit in there nicely on either side. Under that flap is a generous pocket for cables and accessories. If necessary, this is big enough for the ToneMatch Power Supply. Here is the view from the top. And there's another generous pocket on the back. You're probably wondering where all the cables are. I have them strapped to my microphone stand. This is an older picture. I have a different mount for...Read More...

Tablets used for lyrics etc

Forum: Solo Acts
troubador
Greetings! I'm curious - how do folks use tablets to support performances? I'm a solo performer and I use a first gen. iPad (the original one) for my lyrics/chords - one page per song (mostly!). Double columns if required. The process I follow seems complicated, but over time it's become an easy one for me. I have a single document containing my entire repertoire (this is actually a dynamic document as I keep adding new songs). I create separate set lists for gigs. This document is saved as...Read More...

T4S cover

Love the T4S mixer and Bose sound, but this latest iteration of T mixer has warts introduced that make life more complicated rather than improving situations. The T1 had a cover that protected the operating controls while in transit and while on stage if desired to protect from fiddlers and tweakers. The T4S cover is ok for transit but can no longer be used on stage to protect settings as it now goes down the back and covers ports - which can’t be done with cables plugged in. A minus point...Read More...

USB Playback issue

I've had an L1 Model II and Tonematch for years. I just picked up the T8S and have been trying it out. I'm trying to use the USB playback feature and I can't get it to work. USB Playback in Prefs shows 'Read Error'. The USB works fine elsewhere, and I've tried a few different ones. I have updated the firmware with no change. Are there some specifics I'm missing? T8S Reverb doesnt sound as good as on T1 at all

Daniel Blohm
Hi. Since i really love my T1 mixer and I really needed more channels, I "uppgraded" to T8S, and have now tested it booth live and compared it side by side to the T1. Here are my thoughts and questions: The sound without effects is very close, but I do feel that I can hear some small differences in the preamps. Little more defined in the highs and lows compared to the T1. But they do sound very similar. I tried to copy all the settings from my T1 that always sounded great in every...Read More...

Using the S1 Pro with Bose Connect App

I stumbled upon a YouTube video uploaded by Bose Professional showcasing the S1 and at the end the guy demonstrates using the S1 with the mobile Bose Connect app for mono or stereo Bluetooth streaming. I cannot find my S1s using the app and the S1 isn’t even listed as a supported device within the app. Has anyone seen this and figured it out? Here’s a link to the YouTube video: https://youtu.be/C1NaRpSrxLARead More...
Is it "just me", but doesn't it seem very reasonable to think this Bose Connect App with the S1 Pro COULD provide Volume, Bass, Treble, Reverb, and the Tonematch Switch for each channel? In other words - everything that is on the panel, make it available on the app? And while they're having a good time - Channel & Master Mutes, Master Volume, maybe Line-Out Volume.. .. NOT asking for wireless connect for instrument input, just the same controls that are THERE (plus a few that SHOULD be...Read More...

T1 Lower Kick Gate Threshold?

Hello Everyone! So a friend of mine has lent me his T1 Model II, and I'm actually digging it. We are using it as the sole amplification system for vocals in my extremely small jam space, and the compact size is amazing compared to my old 2X15 powered cab setup. Anyhow! Just last jam the bass player said he has trouble hearing the kick. I understand why as I use an 18X8 since there is no room to setup a proper size. I had the briliant idea to hook up my Beta 52A to the L1 just to boost up the...Read More...
Reporting in! So I switched out my 18" cannon kick for my 16" tom-kick. It was sounding fine on it's own but during practice I quickly realized that the kick sound was lost in the mix. I spent about 30 mins messing with presets, B2 levels , difference mics, and nothing helped. It seems that there is some sort of hard limiter with the B2 bass module. With very soft taps on the kick, the bass is quite loud and punchy, but once I bring it up to performance levels, the overall bass level seems...Read More...

S1 Pro Backpack - pictures!

Hi Folks, I got my hands on an S1 Pro Backpack and took some pictures for you. Mug shot - The backpack is about 5 inches taller than the S1 Pro. Top down view. T-1 Tone Match PreAmp Outs 1-3 saturating my external recording device

I'm trying to record multiple separate tracks live from the T-1 Tone Match outputs for channels 1-3, going into 3 separate tracks into a Tascam Zoom H-5 Porta Studio. The Zoom 5 successfully records 3 separate tracks but the t-1 output levels are overwhelming the busses in the H-5 making it extremely difficult to get balanced recording tracks. I'm having to set the H-5 recording levels between 2 and 3 and the slightest adjustment has an extreme effect of the recording volume. It seems like I...Read More...

S1 Pro system, battery included, slip cover not (May 2018)

I ordered an S1 when it became available with the battery. Note that the S1 no longer comes with a cover - I was disappointed that Bose chose to delete this when they decided to include the battery. Even if the cover is considered "just a dust cover," it is some protection while carting the S1 around or when it is not being used. I hope Bose will reconsider this. The S1 is a great small PA that is perfect for taking out - why delete ANY kind of protection for it?? Is there any way current...Read More...

QSC K and KW series have an option for "thru" (pre-volume) or mix. My Fishman gear has that as well. (Yamaha varies a bit by series.) A typical use for the "Thru" output would be XLR from mixer to 812 #1 and XLR from 812 #1 to 812 #2. Since the output is volume dependent, will setting volume on both units at the +0 position yield equal volume in this configuration?? I would have much preferred the option to mix or send at least a single input to "Thru". Just got F1 system unboxed and don't...Read More...

T4S Channels 5/6 volume control

Am I right in thinking rapid access to volume control on channels 5/6 is buried under: Master rotary set to Pan/Aux>Menu>Aux In>5 LVL & 6LVL ? If that is true - on a live stage monitoring mic volumes, effects and then overall volume changes of individual tracks coming in off an iPad / Tablet or mobile is going to be a nightmare I hadn't anticipated. The ability to "PAN" channels left and right, I understand. Two separate volume controls for a stereo signal in is in my view...Read More...

Aux In channels on the T8S question

snakehips
Hi ST, Just after a wee bit helping understanding the intricacies of using the Aux In channel(s) with a T1 Tonematch. I have a gig on Friday - and it will be in a packed pub with not too much time to set up all our gear (there is a lot !). There are only 3 of us so don’t panic when you see what we are plugging into our Bose L1mk2 plus two B1’s. Depending on space, I may add in a powered PA speaker or two (Yamaha DXR12’s), but adding those in or not doesn’t cause me much confusion, although I...Read More...

Newbie here in the world of compact PA's. I just ordered a L1 Compact and a TC Helicon Play Acoustic. One vocal/ one acoustic guitar is all I plan on using this system for... Can I get a decent mix prior to going out of the mono output to the L1 Compact ? Or Do I really need to think about getting the tonematch mixer or some other type of mixer ( Mackie, etc) to interface with the Compact? Anyone out there can lead me in the right direction I would appreciate it.Read More...
Hi DWR, I don't use the range below 12:00 o'clock unless I've got a loud input source (e.g. mixer) or I'm in a very quiet room. Check out pages 57-58 in the TC-Helicon manual. Try turning up the output level of the TC-Helicon unit. This will let you run the L1® at a lower setting on the L1®. The L1 Compact isn't set up like a typical PA. The power amps are always running at 100%. The volume controls are more like a combination of trim/control. STRead More...

Multiple F1 Systems

Hi, I have used 4 F1 systems FOH including 620M's and 502A's side fill at a recent Jazz and Blues Festival. I tried a few configurations and settled on 3x 812's stacked outside, 4 subs side by side next to the stack and 2 812's stacked in the center. The stage was 60cm high and the speakers were on the grass. We had a 12m x 30m marquee. The system was LCR utilizing the built in xovers. Soundcraft Impact desk. The center 2x 812's were great. More presence. All components were connected in...Read More...
Greg, Thanks for your purchase of the F1 812 and Sub. You ask some good questions above – let me see if I can answer some of them…. “Do Not Stack the Subs” A close look at the cabinet configuration would indicate that there are no stacking cups or built in cabinet features to “Lock” these speakers together when they are stacked. The thought of doing that was outside the product development team’s vision of having a compact speaker/sub for both sides of the stage. The bottoms of the subs are...Read More...

Using Samson XP1000 with L1S1B2

For small venues I attach the mixer alone to the L1S1 using a 1/4" cable running from my monitor/mono output. For larger venues I also use the 500Watt speakers with the Samson XP on the sides for output as well as monitors for singers and other musicians/drummer. The gain can never be raised above 2 or I get feedback. This means I have to max the volume out on my mixer (which is powered btw and powers the 500 watt speakers) leaving little room for increase. I don't want to purchase the...Read More...
Seconded. The B2 is fantastic. I have one but I also bought a used B1 for when only vocal, piano, sax and or guitar go through the PA. It also makes a good, compact bass guitar cabinet. Your health and wellbeing come first. 1 or 2 B1s might actually be a better option for you than one B2, lighter and more balanced to carry and still able to project a surprising amount of bass if EQ'd correctly - a lot of what is recognised as deep bass impact is actually in the 60-80 HZ range.Read More...
