OK here it goes... I would like to see Bose offer a new high performance speaker line which is outdoor rated and a step up from the F1 in terms of overall SPL output. First cabinet I would like to talk about is a main FOH top box. They should be capable of a peak SPL of 135 db (or more). I also think this new box should have double twelve inch drivers giving the user more energy to the low-mids allowing for stronger reproduction of the frequencies in 300-100 Hz range where most of the lower...Read More...

Hi Mahesh, Okay, this sounds good. I was checking to see if there was anything odd in your setup that might cause problems. No cause for concern here. Instead of Tape Delay and reverb, try this for your vocals microphone : Digital Delay Time: 100 ms Mix: 15% - vary up to 30% Fdbk: 0% - vary up to 10% You should have better intelligibility and move the vocals out in front of the backing tracks. My original comments on the S1 after its introduction was that there was not enough bass and the responding replies then was that it had enough but now many are unhappy with the S1s ability to reproduce enough bass. So the requests of more bass in someway or another is adding to the cost of 600.00 plus whatever is needed to expand the bass to the S1. Bose failed to see the big picture market out there, from PA to monitor, to all the buskers and all the single players that setup anywhere.Read More...

Set up the T1 for stereo

Hello everyone, This is a guide on how to set up a T1 feeding two separate sources for left and right, e.g. two model II's or model I's. T1 is designed to be a mono device, so the setup for stereo is a little complicated. But, once set up, you can easily control volume of the stereo feed from your stereo device (keyboard, DJ mixer, iPod, etc.). Please note - you will not be able to use reverb in this configuration. Most keyboards already have stereo reverb built in - you can use that reverb...Read More...

Room Acoustics for Performers: Introduction

Ken-at-Bose
Hi Folks, At the recent L1 conference in Little Switzerland I gave a talk on Room Acoustics for Performers. We videotaped the presentation and we'll make that available as soon as it's been edited. I plan to add to the material in that talk here, and eventually I'm hoping we can move the information to the L1 wiki. I encourage you to ask questions and add your own commentary to these threads. The material gets better and better when you do. My goal is to provide information about room...Read More...

To add your band: - Go to the L1 Bands forum - Click down on the "New" tab and release the mouse button on "Discussion" - We ask that you use a common topic-naming convention "genre : number of players : name of band". This is an example of some of the old "Gems" which are turning up since the introduction of the new forum software. The words are as true now as they were then. Here's an example. Even better than the 'patented' solution in the above post would be a simple wooden doorstop, because you could adjust the angle of declination of the sound pattern. Personally, I like the Bose bags. Every one of us who has been in the business for a long time knows how speakers can get bumped, banged around, and scuffed up in transport. These bags, while expensive, do a great job of keeping my investment safe from getting all banged up. They ARE a bit awkward trying to get them zipped up because of the tight fit at times. And I also had a problem with the zipper snapping off. I used a key ring to replace it and it works fine.Read More...

I have a pair of B1s and the Bose small bass amp to run them. I want to use them with a pair of active speakers which are 150 watts rms full range, but are only 8” + horn. What would be a good crossover point to try? I am hoping to give a little more headroom for the vocals by sending the lower frequencies to the B1s thanksRead More...

How long when using with backing tracks is the battery supposed to last

Original post was in Battery Life This portion below moved here to a new topic. How long when using with backing tracks is the battery supposed to last Thanks Kevin GoodallRead More...
Hi Kevin, Up to 11 hours of play is dependent on Volume and to a lesser extent the tone controls Higher volume and turning up the tone controls draws more energy than lower settings. Program material Prerecorded music is usually compressed. This may draw more power than live music at the same perceived volume because live music has more dynamics (lower draw in quiet moments). Presets for Yamaha Electro Acoustics

I'm about to take delivery of a Yamaha AC5R Electro Acoustic Guitar. I'm a long time Yamaha player and L1 user and it has always frustrated me that we can't get T1 presets for the most recent Yamaha guitars. My other Yamaha acoustic is an APX20D. I've tried various Taylor and Martin presets but nothing quite hits the spot. Come on Bose, lets have some love for the Yamaha players out there!Read More...

How can I control two separate master outputs on the Tonematch 8?

Our four piece classic rock band is performing for a local variety show. We play a 50 min preshow set and then turn around and become the pit band to accompany the chorus and play walk offs etc. I'm using my TM8 for 3 vocals, guitar, bass, keys, and Roland E-drums (7 inputs). For the preshow we need to hear our vocals without any latency/delay that we get through the auditorium mains. So I ran the left main XLR out to two wedges hooked up in series. By doing that, we were able to produce the...Read More...

Hi ST, Interesting post, but just about what I've come to expect from many today. Music streaming instead of having a look through ones collection to see what you fancy listening to. Music being created on computers rather than using instruments that you can take into a forest and play your favourite songs. Those are just 2 examples. Don't get me wrong here. I think that all tastes should be catered for. However, some of them I will go out of my way to avoid if possible. Many songs I could...Read More...

@ST - A few minutes ago (I hadn't seen your message above) I went digging into a box where I keep my cables. Lo and behold, I found a cable that I acquired eons ago - twin 1/4" TS to a stereo 1/8" jack. I think I got this to connect an electronic keyboard to something ... don't remember what. Anyway, this is a fairly heavy duty cable and 6' long ... perfect for the guitar. I plugged it into the S1 and it's perfect. It does exactly what I want. So here's the benefit to me: I like playing the...Read More...

T8S carry case/bag?

I am expecting delivery of the T8S this week. What are you using to protect it during transport? I know it comes with a plastic cover, but so does the T1. But the T1 also has a canvas cover to protect it. It doesn’t look like the T8S has that. Why? What are T8S users using? I’m concerned about banging/scratching it up when traveling to gigs and practice. Is Bose planning to design a cover? I’d appreciate any ideas others have. Thanks, DaveRead More...

Mobile DJ use - signal clipping and distorted bass

Hello Bose Community, I'm a hobbyist mobile DJ, mostly playing at house parties, villas, sailing boats and afterparties of tech conferences around Amsterdam. The music is bass-heavy, e.g. techno, many kinds of house etc. I'm using Traktor Kontrol Z1 as my mixer interface, running audio from my laptop, mixed in Traktor Pro 3. My secondary interface is Traktor Audio 2. I've been owning Bose S1 Pro system for almost 6 months now, and I enjoy using it for practice sessions at home and small...Read More...
The link below details connecting a Bose S1 Pro to a Behringer B1200d subwoofer. By using the high pass crossover on the sub you are limiting the low frequencies sent to the S1 Pro, that should help with clipping / overdriving you S1 Pro. The concepts outlined in the article should apply to most small subs. https://toonz.ca/bose/wiki/ind...B1200D_Pro_Subwoofer Lack of AC power... a small gas or propane inverter generator could provide you with the clean power needed to run your system. Hi guys Just a brief question. Should there be a small drop off in sound (5-10%) between the combo jack inputs (1-3) and line inputs 4/5 on the Tone match mixer. I was doing up settings on my Nylon stringed guitar and noticed a difference when I took it from input (2 in this case) and put it into 4/5 The trims, channel volume and master volume were the same on both and both channels were setup identically (same preset, eq, delay, compression reverb etc) Thanks as always! S1 Pro - L1 Compact dilemma

Harry
I have been using a pair of S1 Pro’s at a regular gig for sometime now, really enjoying the portability, sound quality, and overall vibe of the speakers, what a great system! As I was prepping for Thursday's gig, I walked by my old faithful L1 Compacts sitting on the shelf, they actually spoke to me and said “Hey, how about taking us along this time? What are we? Chopped liver?” I smiled, and loaded them into the truck. At the gig I was reminded how great a speaker the Compact really is, the...Read More...
Thanks ST! Good info, I appreciate your comments, very helpful... I front end both systems with a T1 mixer and run them in mono, sometimes I use a single S1 Pro as a personal monitor, use its mixer, and feed the house system in larger venues. I use small subwoofers with both systems for DJ applications, when I'm performing with guitar + vocal no Subwoofers I regularly perform at a few very wide venues and will use two S1 Pros on tripod stands or two Compacts to cover. Either of the systems...Read More...

Mixer - Mic preset

Is there a department, office or contact we can send mic preset requests to? I am looking at buying an Ehrlund EHR-H microphone as it’s spec is out of this world. Would love to have a preset that got the best out of it.Read More...
Hi ScubaBadger, I did see that specification. I didn't see any of the reviews suggesting a practical benefit to having a frequency response beyond 20 kHz . So I didn't give it a lot of thought. I know that some of the gear at my place has a frequency response well beyond 20 kHz. That doesn't help with anything I need to do and in some cases it creates issues in the digital domain (inaudible noise that consumes resources to manage). If you try out the Ehrlund EHR-H microphone please tell us...Read More...

Hi Gibby, Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome. Thank you for including the picture. That was helpful. Are there two microphones? Please give us a link to the owners manual or specifications for the microphone(s). It sounds like the microphones are omnidirectional, and that could be contributing to the problem. Please refer to the owners manual for the microphone(s) to ensure they are positioned correctly (as close as possible to the Pastor's mouth). You may have to...Read More...
