Connecting T1 to the venues own system

Hello, I would greatly appreciate some advice. I have a Bose L1m2 with a b1 and T1, I've had it 10 years and I love it. Some of the bars I play in require me to plug into their house system at the wall port on the stage, when asked to plug into these I don't get to see what the system the bar is using, very often the staff operating it switch the house system from their music to the band channel, the problem I am having is in some of the bars I can't get an output from the t1 but I can in...Read More...

F1 subs hot and weak??

jdbassentertainment.com
We recently performed at a High School prom. We ran the sound (2 F1 Stacks) off one breaker and the lights off the another. We put both subs under our table that was skirted. Typically the mixer I use (Denon X900) doesn’t have enough output to make signal lights flash red... they remain green. So typically we run the volume wide open giving the subs as much volume as possible. The dance went great and the F1 System sounded great as always, but towards the end of the dance my wife told me...Read More...
You'll want to make sure that the F1 Subs get plenty of ventilation. If the subs can't get rid of the heat in an enclosed area, it will create a vicious cycle where the voice coils and amplifier modules will heat up causing an increase in resistance and consequently less output despite the same gain setting. Did you test the system at the maximum level you planned to play at before the guests arrived? If you're seeing red signal/clip indicators, your signal from your mixer is too hot. If...Read More...

Bose L1 Model 1 - Orange Power Light

Ugh. Was happily using my treasured L1 yesterday when all of a sudden the sound died. The Power on light now stays orange and the two input channel signal light red, all with everything unplugged. Reading around am I right in thinking this is a back to Bose to fix? It wouldn't be something simple like a blown fuse etc? Many thanks in advance. cheers Adam.Read More...

IEM - In Ear Monitoring

Hi all, Thought it might be interesting to hear about other peoples experience, suggestions, recommendations on the subject of IEM's. I guess we're all aware of the benefits of IEM, they can protect your hearing from damage from high level sounds, and they can feed you with exactly the mix you want and or need to hear while performing. It can also fix the problem of the Doppler effect (this is where reflected sound can reach the ears of the vocalist slightly off pitch and cause them to sing...Read More...

S1 Pro Shutdown when you disconnect AC Power

ST
UPDATE 2019-05-16 There is a firmware update to resolve this issue. Please follow this link. Firmware 7.0.11 for S1 Pro Shutdown when you disconnect AC Power The original post follows below. Bose is aware that on some S1 Pro systems the unit will shut down if You are running the unit on AC power You disconnect the power or remove the AC power cord Other units do not exhibit this behavior and some customers have expressed concerns. You can resume operation by cycling the power button off and...Read More...
Good news everybody! There is a new firmware update that addresses this issue. Please see: Firmware 7.0.11 Edit: This changes the way an interruption to the AC power affects the S1 Pro. You will still have to cycle the power off/on with the power button to restore audio, but the firmware update reduces the likelihood that you will have to reset the S1 Pro to get it going again. T4s USB-A player issues...

I have previously posted 'apparently' in the general forums before discovering this one. That aside, I have very recently purchased a T4s as an upgrade to my 3 year old T1. 50% of my reasoning for the upgrade was because of the T4s in-built USB-A Playback. It took me a while to work out what the hell was going on which I can now compress into this... Some WAV files fail, with the T4s reporting "File Not Playable (-10)" However the files it errors play perfectly on a multitude of other...Read More...
There is another issue with regard to the T4s USB-A Player. OK so maybe I'm the only person on the planet doing things this way... On the T1, I have a microphone on channel 1, another microphone on channel 2 and backing track into channel 4. With channel 1 to 4 routed to AUX-OUT this is then my Fold-Back feed. It feeds me what I need/want at Pre-Master. Hence, my monitor is the true level mix with or without FX. This makes it easy to keep things balanced. The Master then adjusts the total PA...Read More...

T1 Tonematch and iPad Pro 2018 USB-C

Hi, Glad to be part of the community here. I've been searching everywhere to find some information about this but have been unsuccessful. I currently run my iPad 2 (old school!!) into my T1 Tonematch using a "Golden Gate" 30 pin to stereo RCA cable. I'm looking at getting a new 2018 iPad Pro with USB-C and was wondering the best method to connect this up the the Tonematch. Does anyone have any experience with plugging the iPad directly into the USB-B port on the the T1. Is there such a lead...Read More...
Hi TheLoungeSinger, Thanks for the update. I'm sorry that didn't work out with the direct cable. I guess you get to try a bunch of things. Mixing L1 and F1 speakers for live performance

Our 4 piece band has a theatre gig coming up max 350 but bleacher seating and a very high ceiling. We own an L1 model II with B2 bass that works for small club performances (drums/bass/guitar/keys/3vocals through a T8s TM mixer and love the fact we no longer need monitors!!! We feel we need a little more sound reinforcement for this hall. In our area only L1 model I's and F1's are available to rent. So here are my questions: 1) Will a rented L1 Model 1 with B2 bass with our own T8s/model...Read More...

Static on line speaker L1 compact

Hello, I have a L1 compact and started to hear some static noise in the line speaker, even when the volume is completely down and nothing connected I can hear it. As I increase the volume the static also increases but only on the line speaker, on the base static is almost none. It is not very noticable until half the volume. Is there something I can do? I am in Mexico ;)Read More...
Hi Alonsohfa, Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome. Is this new, or is it possible it was there before but you didn't notice it. It is normal to hear some static noise like this if you are very close to the top speaker array. It will not be audible from the power stand because these frequencies are not in the low-frequency range. Thank you for the recording. This tells us the frequency range, but not the loudness. If you hear this within a meter, this might be...Read More...

Face to Face technical support in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

I am looking for someone to help me learn more about getting the best sound out of my Tonematch mixer. I feel fortunate for all of the info I have gained on this forum but would really like to speak to someone in person as I am a visual learner. Notching out feedback:

I’m having a problem with a high frequency feed back at gigs. I’m using a L1 model II with a T8S (love it!). I have the instructions for using the Para EQ to attempt to notch out the frequency but I obviously can’t do this at a gig with people present. I’ve tried cutting back Highs on each mike channel as well as on reverb but this hasn’t solved the problem. I’ve also tilted the mikes up (we have 3 EV 967 mikes). My question is this: is there a frequency range that is usually the culprit for...Read More...

I bought mine in late 2006/early 2007. Still gigging with it. No complaints. My T1 almost died when I accidentally spilled beer on it, but I managed to salvage that :-)Read More...

Suggested Crossover point

I have a pair of B1s and the Bose small bass amp to run them. I want to use them with a pair of active speakers which are 150 watts rms full range, but are only 8” + horn. What would be a good crossover point to try? I am hoping to give a little more headroom for the vocals by sending the lower frequencies to the B1s thanksRead More...

How long when using with backing tracks is the battery supposed to last

Original post was in Battery Life This portion below moved here to a new topic. How long when using with backing tracks is the battery supposed to last Thanks Kevin GoodallRead More...
Hi Kevin, Up to 11 hours of play is dependent on Volume and to a lesser extent the tone controls Higher volume and turning up the tone controls draws more energy than lower settings. Program material Prerecorded music is usually compressed. This may draw more power than live music at the same perceived volume because live music has more dynamics (lower draw in quiet moments). Presets for Yamaha Electro Acoustics

I'm about to take delivery of a Yamaha AC5R Electro Acoustic Guitar. I'm a long time Yamaha player and L1 user and it has always frustrated me that we can't get T1 presets for the most recent Yamaha guitars. My other Yamaha acoustic is an APX20D. I've tried various Taylor and Martin presets but nothing quite hits the spot. Come on Bose, lets have some love for the Yamaha players out there!Read More...

How can I control two separate master outputs on the Tonematch 8?

Our four piece classic rock band is performing for a local variety show. We play a 50 min preshow set and then turn around and become the pit band to accompany the chorus and play walk offs etc. I'm using my TM8 for 3 vocals, guitar, bass, keys, and Roland E-drums (7 inputs). For the preshow we need to hear our vocals without any latency/delay that we get through the auditorium mains. So I ran the left main XLR out to two wedges hooked up in series. By doing that, we were able to produce the...Read More...

Mobile DJ use - signal clipping and distorted bass

Hello Bose Community, I'm a hobbyist mobile DJ, mostly playing at house parties, villas, sailing boats and afterparties of tech conferences around Amsterdam. The music is bass-heavy, e.g. techno, many kinds of house etc. I'm using Traktor Kontrol Z1 as my mixer interface, running audio from my laptop, mixed in Traktor Pro 3. My secondary interface is Traktor Audio 2. I've been owning Bose S1 Pro system for almost 6 months now, and I enjoy using it for practice sessions at home and small...Read More...
The link below details connecting a Bose S1 Pro to a Behringer B1200d subwoofer. By using the high pass crossover on the sub you are limiting the low frequencies sent to the S1 Pro, that should help with clipping / overdriving you S1 Pro. The concepts outlined in the article should apply to most small subs. https://toonz.ca/bose/wiki/ind...B1200D_Pro_Subwoofer Lack of AC power... a small gas or propane inverter generator could provide you with the clean power needed to run your system. Hi guys Just a brief question. Should there be a small drop off in sound (5-10%) between the combo jack inputs (1-3) and line inputs 4/5 on the Tone match mixer. I was doing up settings on my Nylon stringed guitar and noticed a difference when I took it from input (2 in this case) and put it into 4/5 The trims, channel volume and master volume were the same on both and both channels were setup identically (same preset, eq, delay, compression reverb etc) Thanks as always! S1 Pro - L1 Compact dilemma

Harry
I have been using a pair of S1 Pro’s at a regular gig for sometime now, really enjoying the portability, sound quality, and overall vibe of the speakers, what a great system! As I was prepping for Thursday's gig, I walked by my old faithful L1 Compacts sitting on the shelf, they actually spoke to me and said “Hey, how about taking us along this time? What are we? Chopped liver?” I smiled, and loaded them into the truck. At the gig I was reminded how great a speaker the Compact really is, the...Read More...
Thanks ST! Good info, I appreciate your comments, very helpful... I front end both systems with a T1 mixer and run them in mono, sometimes I use a single S1 Pro as a personal monitor, use its mixer, and feed the house system in larger venues. I use small subwoofers with both systems for DJ applications, when I'm performing with guitar + vocal no Subwoofers I regularly perform at a few very wide venues and will use two S1 Pros on tripod stands or two Compacts to cover. Either of the systems...Read More...
