Rack mounting the T8s

Hi, has anyone successfully rack-mounted the T8s? I would like to incorporate it at the top of a small unit with radio mics and in ear systems underneath. I am hoping to save time setting up/packing down at gigs by having a table top style unit that just plugs in to one power source (rather than my current process of plugging in many separate units/XLRs etc.) I see the base of the unit has a screw for a tripod but this wouldn’t be easily incorporated in to a standard rack mount. I’m...Read More...
Hi Kim, Thanks for your advice. I’ve now ordered some parts that will hopefully make this possible. The SKB R106W Rolling Compact Rig is the unit I think will best accommodate for my needs (both for the T8s at the top and six radio devices underneath). I’ve purchased a slanted top tray which I’ll drill a hole in, and then mount the T8s (with some thin rubber matting and washers for shock protection) via the tripod style screw on the bottom side of the desk. I’ll post some photos with links...Read More...

Bluetooth "On/Off"

Does anyone know how to turn off the Bluetooth function on the S1? It seems to turn on at will and I get notification sounds through the speaker while on the gig. (annoying).Turning the volume down is sidestepping the problem but it does work. However, I would like it to be "off". Thanks!Read More...

Stereo Output for T4S

Hi Everyone. I searched around and couldn't find much information regard to what I'm looking for, so please help. Thanks I'm using T4S and 2 of L1 MII w B2. I'm having 2 mics as chanel 1&2 and audio output from TV ( Optical out convert to RCA L/R then to XLR into T4S) as chanel #3 & 4. Both of my L1s are playing the same audio just as they're mono, regardless of the source is playing only on Left or Right. 1) What do I need to have audio from TV going into my mixer T4S to play both...Read More...

Stereo from my laptop??

Am I to understand that the only way to get stereo from my laptop is to use channel 5/6 and the ONLY way to control the volume on the fly from the mixer is to use the main? Surly this is not the case, if it is, it is a TERRIBLE design flaw. I am a guitar player using backing tracks. I have the mixer in front of me and just let my playlist play. I don't want to be fumbling around with the volume on my laptop to change the volume of my backing track??Read More...
Go to your laptop audio settings and switch to mono output, you're stereo tracks will be summed, and then you can use one channelRead More...

L1 MII clipping after it warms up

Using two L1 MIIs for my 5pc band. At one of last week's gigs, one of the power amps started clipping. After checking connections during a break, there were no indications of any issues. I set up the units at home, and I was able to duplicat the issue, after it warmed up for about 10 minutes, started clipping, with just iPod music going through the system at a fairly low level. I went through the normal trouble-shooting procedures, change cables, different channels, etc. The last test was to...Read More...

2 x L-1 compact vs L-1S with B-1

I have a small studio 15x21, with 10 foot ceiling and some acoustic panels well placed. My band is an electronic drum (Roland TD -12), Bassman, 1 x electric guitar, 2 x vocals and harmonica. What would be the best for optimal sound. 2 X L-1 compact or l x L-1s with 1 B-1 or something else. 2 setups possible. 1) Everything going thru the L-1 2) Only drum, vocals and harmonica going thru L-1Read More...
Hi, Stephane Morin. The B1 is 26.6 lb (12.1 kg). Two B1s (stacked) take slightly more floor space than a B2 placed vertically. The B2 is 45 lb (20.41 kg). The B2 gives you more options for sound. B2 Switching The B2 bass module includes a switch allowing you to select the appropriate level of bass output for your application. There are three settings: Switch Position Application + Bass voicing designed for DJ/Music playback applications Similar to four B1s Normal Bass voicing ideal for bass...Read More...

Are the two Digital Main Output Ports on the T4S a Left / Right Stereo Pair? I think I've seen talk / articles in the community / wiki that show a combination hookup where one Digital and one analog connection are recommended for DJ setups using two L1 MII. I think those recommendations might be for the older T1 though. Page 12 of the T4S / T8S manual shows a diagram with one ToneMatch cable connected to a Left and another ToneMatch cable connected to a Right L1 MII. Would this be the proper...Read More...

Channel Possibly Dying?

Channel 1 on my Tonematch mixer has suddenly developed a problem. It's not dead, but does not become "normal" until about 5 minuted after powered on. The trim pot can be spun wide open and there is only faint signal coming through. Then after 5 minutes or so - normal. Of course, this had me changing out cables and actually throwing one in the trash, thinking that was the problem. Not until it happened the next night with the new cable did I figure it out. Anyway, something tells me a factory...Read More...

Popping sound with T4S reverb

I recently purchased a single BOSE L1 Model II PA system with the BOSE T4S mixer. I play the flute through a dynamic mic (Audix i5). I properly gain staged the T4S with my Audix i5 dynamic mic so that no clipping would occur. I then started exploring the Reverb options available on the T4S. When using the T4S reverb, I'm observing a audible popping sound at the end of a note, particularly with the reverb mix is set above 50%. The popping sound appears to be more frequent with higher-pitched...Read More...

ToneMatch Preset for Lavalier Microphones

Dr. Rhythm
Thanks ST. Your commitment to this community is unrivaled. I've been a part of a number of community forms over the years and rarely have I found someone who's as dedicated to caring for the community and it's members. You're a real asset for Bose pro product users. Are there any recommended presets in the ToneMatch for lavalier style microphones? I see a preset for headworn mics but didn't see anything for lav mics. ToddRead More...
Thanks for the info ST. Yes, lavalier mics generally suck for sound reinforcement applications. As a Wedding DJ they are a necessary evil. At every event were I provide music and sound reinforcement for the ceremony I use two wireless lavalier microphones. One mic / bodypack on the officiant who needs both hands free to read notes or scripture from the couple's holy book of choice. The second lavalier microphone is worn by the groom. He and the bride also need their hands free. A bride...Read More...

Apologies, the earth disconnect is best at the downstream end, so as you are using the S1 as the source in this context leave the earth connected at the S1 end and disconnect at the other end.Read More...

Unit buzzing

I have just purchased my second L1 11 second hand, it is in immaculate condition and has only been fired up twice in the last 3 years. When I plug it in there is a hum which gets louder with the volume and a unpleasant response to the bass notes which is not what I experience with my first Bose. I have changed the leads cables etc. but to no avail, anyone experienced this problem?Read More...

T1 Tonematch to Yamaha MG06 6-channel Mixer

I have my T1 Tonematch that I plug two guitars and two mics into and send everything to my S1. Works perfect. The venue we are playing at wants the music to come out of their speakers as well. They have a Yamaha MG06 6 Channel Mixer. Whats the best way to set up to have what we are playing coming out of the S1 and their speakers using both the T! and the Yamaha?Read More...
Hi, B-Man. Great! Looking at manual for the Yamaha MG606 mixer the easiest way to do this is: Use a 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable* from the S1 Pro Line Out to one Yamaha MG606 channel 1 or channel 2. Engage (push in) the button for the PAD. More control - but no reverb : Use a 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable* from the T1 Aux Output to one Yamaha MG606 channel 1 or channel 2. Engage (push in) the button for the PAD. You may not want reverb going to the Yamaha MG606.Read More...

ToneMatch and External Effects

I really enjoy the BOSE L1 Classic and then purchased the TONE MATCH T1 a decade ago too! Recently I have expanded my performing effects beyond the TONE MATCH options to include loop boxes, Zen Drive box, some Pink Floyd & Stones effects, distortions, and a boost box for leads over my loop tracks, but still I want to use the nicely perfected EQ for my Martin D28HDV and Strat on the ToneMatch. However, with the configuration of the ToneMatch outputs there seems to be no send/receive...Read More...

Full band Setup

Hello! I just recently purchased the F1 System (812 Speaker and Subwoofer). My plan for this system is to run a full band through it via 14 channel mixer. And I would also be connecting a laptop/iPad for canned music. In the instruction book, it gives multiple examples on how to setup the system for a full band but doesn’t give an example for a single 812 speaker and subwoofer setup. I would gladly welcome any suggestions on how to setup this up to get the best sound! P.s I do plan on buying...Read More...

2 x compact L1 and 1x T1 mixer

Hello everyone merry Christmas and all that...... just a quick question re L1 compacts.....if I hook 2 of them to 1 x T1 mixer will they work satisfactorily ? having previously hooked up 2 x L1 series 11 to 1x T1 mixer and experienced how horrible it can be I’m just wondering if the same is true with the compacts. i have one compact and am considering purchasing a second one if they will work well. my idea being to set one up each side of stage area as with traditional speaker set ups to...Read More...
Thank you for the quick reply ST yes.....L1 behind me and a compact either side of stage i have used 802s with a PWR amp in this way previously with good success my thinking is that a pair of compacts might achieve the same thing but less weight to haul into the venues i have tried the dual mono set up in the past.....not good. Had all the problems of the multi source interference I might try and borrow a second compact from someone to tryout the idea thanks again vincentRead More...

Lost T1 Mounting Bracket

Hi, I have a 2 year old L1 Model 2 with a T1. I somehow lost my T1 mounting bracket at my last gig. I called Bose support today and was told Bose does not make this bracket any more. The only T1 bracket I could find on the internet was the type that mounts the T1 to a mic stand. Can anyone tell me where I might find the type of bracket that mounts the T1 to the speaker? Thanks very much. MikeRead More...

Connect a sound mixer

Hello! I’m looking to get the F1 Model 812 and F1 Subwoofer to use with a sound mixer (Peavey PV14). I wanted to get some insight on how to connect the mixer to the F1 System. The 812 only has 1 XLR input, how would I connect the left and right channels from the mixer? The subwoofer has 2 inputs that I can use for L and R from the mixer but then how would I connect the L and R to the 812?Read More...
Hi, Gbobby. Stereo requires two mid-high loudspeakers (e.g., two F1 Model 812 systems). Since you have only one F1 Model 812 with F1 Subwoofer, you cannot achieve stereo sound. There is nothing to be gained by running two cables from the mixer to the F1 Model 812 however, if you want to do it, use Tip-Ring-Sleeve to XLR cables. Set the Input 1 Signal Input to LINE Set the volume controls so you see solid green on the LEDs. It's okay if you see flickers of red (up to one second). If you see...Read More...

Good info here on mics. Like @Jeff K I prefer super cardioid mics when playing in front of our L1M2 to reduce risk of feedback. There isn’t one right answer as to the best mic as it really depends on what the best sound you feel you get with your voices. The options already given should give you a heads start and you should try them all out to see what sounds best to your ears.Read More...

L1 Model II: Cleaning power stand (internal)?

Ian Eric
I use my L1MII professionally since 2015 in the dusty Phoenix, Arizona climate, 200+ gigs per year. I've noticed that the small fan screen inside the grab handle of the power stand is getting somewhat caked in dust. I worry about the intrusion of dust into the unit over time, and I wouldn't mind getting inside to see the condition of the internals, and perhaps give it a quick blow-out to remove any lingering dust. Are there any disassembly guides for the L1 Power Stand? I removed a few...Read More...
I agree with ST... a small portable vacuum with a soft brush like the ones used for auto detailing will do the job from the outside. Important thing is that it needs to be sucked off from the exterior. Try not to blow it in with pressurized air.Read More...
