L1 II input jack becoming loose and intermitant

I have (2) L1 II and the the input jacks are becoming loose, intermittent and noisey. The plastic nut on the 1/2 TRS isolating jacks are beginning strip. I am also concerned that the solder connections to the circuit boards below may be becoming suspect on both units. With at least one of the units when intermittent there is a bad 60Hz hum so I am thinking the shield connection may be opening up. Jiggling the input cable at the input jack will generally "fix" it temporarily. The input TRS...Read More...

Hi Cowboy Upp, You can pan all your channels hard right, and use one cable from the 1/4 inch (6.3mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve output to the Model II Power Stand Analog input. Please do NOT use a y-patch cable to connect to your L1®. That won't work. ST Reference: T8S to one L1 Model IIRead More...

Advice please on L1® Model II system with B2 bass

Hi. Think I joined here years ago when we started our duo. Got some great advice then and am hoping for some more as we're now both retired but amazingly still getting employment in bars and small venues. I play in a rock duo - covers of all sorts and we use backing tapes, mainly for drums/ bass but also a little piano ( I'm not great on it). We play the backings ( mono) from an iPad using the Onsong app for the lyrics. When we started about 8 years ago we bought: 2X L1 Model 1s ( pole and...Read More...

L1 Model I with T1 and 2 x B1 - Backing track sounds poor from my MacBook Pro

I seem to be having a problem getting the best from my Tonematch T1 with the L1 M1 and 2 x B1. The backing track sounds poor from my MacBook Pro. Can't put my finger on it. Not sure if I'm getting a full signal (ie both sides of stereo signal as mono) or whether there is reverb mixed in with the sound. Whatever, it sounds woolly. However, if I omit the T1 and use the S1 Pro as a mixer it sounds fine. For the time being I will work without the T1. BTW I have used the FX mute button on the...Read More...

Static or hum on higher volumes

Hi, just trying to find out why the Bose LI can't be turned above 1/2 volume without a loud hum or static coming out of the speaker. I attempted to use a mini-mixer with it and the hum increased. If playing at a large venue, the volume would need to be higher, but it can't be turned very high without the loud hum. (I'm plugging a Dean Markley transducer into it.) How do I resolve the loud hum? Thanks.Read More...
"I'm plugging a Dean Markley transducer into it." I have two instruments that have "workable" issues with piezo electric transducers. My Traveler Guitar Ultra-Light Acoustic-Electric Travel Guitar, with a Shadow piezo electric transducer gave me similar symptoms brand new out of the box. Since it was the only one they had in stock, I took off the access panel and immediately noticed two balled up cold soldered joints on the endpin jack attached to the pickup. The solution was to remove the...Read More...

Battery Charge LED Slowly fades off and on

I finally pulled the trigger and bought an S1 Pro which I received yesterday. Woohoo! I didn't get a chance to play around with it as it arrived right before I was going out. So, when I got home late, I unboxed it, plugged it in, with the power switch in the off position, and let it charge over night. This morning, it's been charging for 8 or 9 hours, I started playing around with it. I notice that the blue battery charge led on the back of the unit (next to the power switch) fades from...Read More...

F1 with or without a compressor?

I have a question regarding my DJ sound system. I've been using a DBX 266XS compressor with my system for many years, and am now wondering how necessary it is to use with my pair of F1 812's and a pair of subs. I do crank it loud at bigger events (school dances, etc.), but is the compressor simply unnecessary overkill with the F1's ability to protect itself? Or is a little bit of compression helpful to protect it?Read More...
Hi Tony, The F1 Model 812 and F1 Subwoofer have built-in limiters to protect the circuitry and the drivers. If you prefer to use a limiter to process the signal before it gets to the F1 Model 812 and F1 Subwoofer, that's fine. I can't comment on how effective your dbx 266xs might be for added protection. Let's see if anyone else ideas about this. STRead More...

F1 Loss of Highs

Hey Guys- dropping in on this forum to get some thoughts on a peculiar problem we're having. We recently purchased a used F1 system... bought it through a reputable local dealer and they were in great shape. They sounded amazing after the install, but recently I've noticed a significant drop in high frequencies in one of the F1 uppers. T8S with two T1s

Starvin
Hi everyone -anyone. I've just purchased a T8S. It hasn't arrived yet which means I'll be picking everyone's brain here to be ready for when it does. (If I'm in the wrong place I apologize.) My first question of many to come : "I have 2 T1 mixers that I power with 2 L1 M2 speaker systems. If I wanted to run the T1 mixers into the T8S ( say via 9/10) would I have to purchase 2 T1 power supplies or is there a way to power the T1 mixers without sending an audio signal to the 2 Model II speaker...Read More...
Hi Starvin, Balanced Greater noise rejection You can run cables a hundred feet or more Unbalanced Greater susceptibility to noise You should not run signal cables longer than 6-8 meters (20-25 feet) Signal strength is typically -6 dB less than balanced (if both ends support a balanced connection and you used an unbalanced cable) Unbalanced is common for instrument connections and consumer connections (RCA for example) and speaker cables. DIY T1 mixer mount onto an L1 Compact.

I, (and apparently other people) wish that my T1 tone match could mount to my L1 compact. I did review the other options and eventually purchased the Bose mic stand adapter which works well enough, but still wished for the on-the-column option. In studying/measuring the bracket inside the base which holds the column, I started looking at off the shelf items that might be able to emulate the Bose bracket and allow me to attach the T1 bracket that came stored in the lid. After a visit to one...Read More...

Adjusting input levels on T1 or T4s possible?

Besides adjusting the trim knob at the top of the mixers, it doesn't appear that one can adjust how sensitive the input is through the menu, such as the preference page. The only control is via the trim knob? The reason I bring this up is b/c I recently upgraded to a T4s mixer, and the first thing I noticed what how much LOUDER the signal was at the same settings. I had to keep my trims way lower the before. Also, when under the preferences page, I am trying to make sure I do not CLIP the...Read More...

Comparing T4S channel 4 to T1 channel 4/5

ST
I've put together some notes about the differences between channel 4 on the T4S and the T1. The T4S channel 4 compares favourably to the T1 channel 4/5 because T4S channel 4 is fully functional like channels 1, 2, and 3. T1 channel 4/5 has one function that is not available on the T4S or T8S. T1 channel 4/5 can accept two inputs (left and right from a mixer or instrument) and convert it to mono. You can combine two inputs to mono on the T4S with the Aux inputs (channels 5/6) but there are no...Read More...
Hi, Dave (ScubaBadger). T1 channel 4/5 is a single channel with two inputs that are combined to mono before any processing. This saves having to use two channels to mix down a stereo source. This channel is full-featured (with some limitations on the types of sources it will accept). It's not just an Aux input. T4S channel 4 is a full-function single channel with one combo input. To accept a stereo source, you need two channels (e.g., 3 and 4) or you can use the T4S Aux channels. The T4S has...Read More...

Low hum sound using an instrument cable

When I plug in an instrument cable into either input from an acoustic guitar I'm hearing a low hum sound. It's get louder as I turn the volume up louder. It occurs both on AC power and on battery. I've tried multiple instrument cables. I've plugged it into multiple outlets in the house. I've used multiple acoustic guitars with active pickups. Adding Alto Stealth Wireless to Bose L1 S2

I have a Bose L1 S2. I want to add the Alto Stealth Wireless capability to the Tonematch mixer. I have tried multiple configurations with multiple channels with no success. Hi Gordo, That's puzzling. It shouldn't make a difference, but please try a couple of short Tip-Sleeve cables. I'm sorry about the link. I've fixed it now. Configuring Aux Outputs Unless you need the headphone output for headphones, using the headphone output is the only way to have an independent volume control for the remote speakers. If you are running near max volume (clip light flickering red), two is all you can do before the system will reset itself, especially on low voltage situations. I have actually run 3 before, but on medium volume, and it was just fine. Just don't expect to plug more gear into the circuit. I have found that each L1 as its max draw can be 6 amps. What I have found with the L1 is that if you are near the maximum load on a circuit, the L1 will reset itself, even though bigger, louder, more...Read More...
