Bass bin hum / buzz

Out of nowhere last week the bass bin of my L1 has begun to buzz loudly, can you inform me of any possible fixes... can't afford another!Read More...
Hi Pete, I checked with Bose Support in the UK. First, if the unit is under two years old, it should still be in warranty. Even if it is out of warranty, they can service your L1 Model II power stand for a fixed fee and that comes with a one-year warranty. I hope that would be less expensive than replacing the unit with something else. I hope that helps. STRead More...

You would be advised to get a 'long range' Bluetooth transmitter. There are currently quite a few of these available – they have a little antenna(s) and can manage a link of around 50m (150ft) or through a wall.Read More...

Hi I just received my new T8S (replacing my T1 for more channels) I want to use it with my L1 II & B2 sub. I'm in AUSTRALIA. I checked the version in PREFS... & its; T8S v1.1.0. I've tried to update the firmware. It downloads fine but when I try to open it i get the following msg: Do I need to update the firmware on the T8S? Do I need to update the firmware on my old L1 II also? If so why can't I open the download? Thanks in advanceRead More...

How do I register my ToneMatch mixer?

troubador
Hi I bought my T8S!! Updated the firmware (to 1.1.4) and will play with it as soon as I have some time to myself. Question: I can't find instructions on how to register the purchase with Bose. I know (at least I'm pretty sure) that I did register my L1M2 and my S1. When I bought those there was documentation on how to register with Bose. Can't find anything like that with my T8S documentation. So I'm wondering ... Is the LCD screen designed to have a black background or is there a way to...Read More...
@ST Thank you so much for answering my questions. You are most helpful and much appreciated (I think I speak for everyone on this forum)! I did notice that the new power supply is smaller than my old (T1) power supply when I opened it up just now. Haven't had much time to play around but I did set up my T8S and the first thing that I did was to try out the digital doubling that you mentioned elsewhere on his forum. I first tried that with my T1 and honestly didn't notice much of a...Read More...

Hi, Robert Mercaldo. Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome. I'm sorry your L1 Classic is not functioning (no sound). There is only the one user-accessible fuse. Is the power light green, amber, red, or off? Is it still silent? Thanks, STRead More...

T8S to L1 Model II noise and inputs

I’m also having this problem ... huge white noise when connected to my Bose L1 series 2 PA via the analogue input (as the digital connection is not a viable option according to the Bose engineers) Other problems are: R mono out is not mono .... I checked this by feeding a stereo signal to 2 channels panned L & R and muting the Right channel to see that none of the Left panned signal is fed through the mono out....frustrating. Lack of any stereo channels with dedicated attenuator is also...Read More...
ST Thanks for your time to answer my queries ... Right Mono Out One wonders why Bose bothers to label the Right output mono ... causes confusion. Best way to connect T4S mixer to bar's existing XLR speaker system

Good afternoon, New to the site. I am a performing musician, effectively a 'one man show'. I am my own sound tech, light tech etc. I recently purchased a T4S mixer and L1 Model 1s and it's the best thing i've ever done. For 90% of my shows, I use this setup seemlessly and I have no problem connecting and integrating the T4S with the Model 1s. However, I have a weekly residency at a large bar, and they have their own PA system with speakers in multiple rooms, outside, toilets etc. Their setup...Read More...
Hi James & ST Im also a full time musician in Australia. I play many venues with a similar system as you described. I'm currently using the T1 ToneMatch with the L1 Model II & B2 sub. I find the easiest way is to use my Bose setup and just send the Master out 1/4" jack to one of the available channels on the Allen & Heath house mixer. I can then have my system as loud or soft as i like on stage & control the house system level from the Allen & Heath to suit. If your happy...Read More...

DJ Sound Card to T8S

NAW-T-BOY
I use the Native Instruments Audio 2 sound card. It has an 1/8" connections (one for master and one for the headphones). Hi, Joe. Congratulations! Please make sure your T8S is up to date. See T8S Firmware Update Instructions And here is a link to information that goes beyond the T8S Owner's Guide. T8S ToneMatch Mixer Not using the standard way that Windows does audio. You can switch back and forth between USB Audio (that uses the T8S) and the internal sound cart to analog output from the PC. I don't think you can use them simultaneously to or to play two different sound sources. You may have software that will...Read More...

L1 Compact Line Out to home stereo speaker

New L1 Compact Classic user here. Trying to drive a Bose speaker from my home stereo as a small stage monitor. Purchased a 1/4" TS cable with the standard red/black bare wire outputs but when the L1 working is working normally with mic/guitar, nothing comes out of the little Bose speaker. The L1 manual indicates it can be used to drive a PA but does not show any specs for that output. Anyone else tried this? Thanks... Optimizing Input gain and volume on L1 Compact

Still studying my L1 manual and watching Youtube videos about the system and I found a contradiction I wanted to run by you all. Steps 3 and 4 in the manual say to set the master volume at 12 oclock and make the fine tuning adjustments with the channel volume. This Youtube video says just the opposite.Channel volume at 12 oclock and fine tune with the master volume. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Dhped9GCsg Who is correct and what about guitars like my Taylor that also have a volume dial.Read More...
Hi, John Power. Here's a video that covers the same information about gain staging - but is for the T4S/T8S. The biggest difference is: The T1 trim lights go green -> amber -> red. The T4S/T8S trim lights go green -> red (no amber). For best results, you want to see solid green on the light. Red flickers are okay. If you see solid red, turn the trim level down. Here is the relevant section from pages 17/18 of the T4S Owner's Guide All the other principles are the same. STRead More...

initial keyboard setup

I've just unpacked the tonematch mixer. My keyboard sounds are coming from my mac / ableton live / through a Scarlett interface. In the headphone jack of the scarlett interface, the piano sounds good. I've connected with two 1/4 to two channels on the tonematch. With all effects off, the sound in the headphones of the tonematch is significantly different than what's coming out of the scarlett. Any ideas why? Thanks.Read More...

T1 Trim/Volume setting

Hi Guys Despite having used my T1 for around a year I have to admit that the trim thing still has me baffled as to it's usefulness so I'm hoping somebody could explain what it's actual purpose is. My set up is L1 M2 with B2 and T1. I use a KMS105 which goes into channel one with the relevant preset selected. My guitar goes into channel two and my backing tracks in 4/5. I am happy with the sound most of the time until I need to start pushing the system and then for some reason the mic seems...Read More...
Hi Geoff, As you know, you can connect all kinds of things (sound sources) to the inputs of your T1. Some sound sources have low-level signals Examples: microphones and piezo pickups (those without preamplifiers). Other sound sources have higher level signals Examples: instruments with electronics like an acoustic guitar with a preamp built-in, keyboards, other mixers The trim control is used to take the signal from the sound source and match it to the internal circuitry in the T1. We do...Read More...

L1 mod 2 with F1 812

I do a couple big parties a year, I have a couple questions. The room is approximately 100 ft wide by 175 deep. Stage about twenty five feet wide. I set up a L1 model 2 with B2 base units on each side of stage. Can I hook up my one F1 812 in the middle of the stage using the other output on my T1. We seat about 300 people at the event. The event is a dance party. I never used the F1 812 before. Do you think I need it with the two L1.Read More...

Using an external mixer ( not ToneMatch T4S). Should it be unpowered or powered?) Where would I plug it in?

I have a new Li Model II with B2 bass mod. Advise needed on a mixer. powered or Unpowered? where would it plug in to not damage the unit? I have a Tone Match 4 as well. Learning curve for this 68 year old is too much for me. A simple mixer with built in reverb would work for two vocals and acoustic guitars. Hi, Joe R. Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. Before I get to your questions, let me make a couple of suggestions to demystify your T4S. While the T4S has lots of capability beyond "a simple mixer with built-in reverb," you can ignore anything you don't need, and then the T4S is no more difficult to use than a simple mixer. I many respects, it should be simpler when you get to know it. Here's what you can do. Call Bose Support in the morning, and they will walk you through how to set...Read More...
