What to Buy

Hi everyone, I am a mobile DJ that does mostly weddings and school dances. My typical wedding crowds are usually between 100-300 people, but I have done a few already that have had up to 500 people. I use two Bose L1 Compact systems for small receptions and ceremonies. When I need more bass for my smaller events, I use two Bose B2 bass modules that are crossed over using a dbx DriveRack PA2 . For my bigger events, I use two Peavey PV118 subwoofers, and two Alto TS112 speakers. I am looking...Read More...
Nope, Bose has never made a mixer that has the features/options that I require. I have been hoping for the last 10 years that they would but unfortunately this last batch of mixers that were just released do not what I need. For my DJ shows I use Denon X500 & X900 mixers. For live sound and IT work I use Presonus RM16 & RM32 mixers with Ipads and the CS18AI control surface.Read More...

Running iPad into T8

Hi fellow Bose owners! I don’t mind admitting that I keep looking at upgrading to a T8. I don’t need 8 channels but there are times when I feel a bit limited with the standard 4 that I currently have on my T1 and T4s. My set up is purely vocals with backing and live guitar. With extra channels I could put my mandolin in a separate channel and my ukulele in another and my electric in another and basically have separate EQ for each. My question is could I run my backing tracks through two...Read More...
"Aux in's" - the nightmare of the "non-volume controllable aux in's" goes on - for the T8S as well as the T4S.... very poor decision on the part of BOSE in my opinion. While I am loving the T4S - I am lamenting the loss of user friendlyness the music in volume pot gave as in the T1. Oh well....Read More...

I, too, have just discovered the joys of BOSE! I do care homes, clubs, hotels and pubs in the UK. I have an L1 Mk1 with 2 x B1s and an S1 Pro, The S1 Pro is my 'go to' system for most gigs and the L1 where more 'oomph' is required. I've been looking at the L1 Mk2 and the L1s to save weight and am seriously considering a T1 Tonematch to get the best out of the kit. I never thought I could afford to go 'Bose' but, in fact , selling my old kit just about covered the cost. I should have done it...Read More...

L1 1S, T8 and B1 coming today - 4-piece gig on Sunday

Hello! My L1 1S with B1 and T8 is coming today. We have a gig on the (outside) back patio of a bar on Sunday, expecting 100 or more people. Band is: guitar, bass, drums and keys/accordian so 4 piece with 3 vocals. We usually go with JBL traditional PA, two 10's and two 15's and a Mackie 16 channel. I would like to use the new L1 for the gig but not sure of the best way. Currently thinking we might use the L1 just for (3) vocals and we all use our amps for instruments. Would the L1 carry...Read More...
Gig passed and while guest of honor was pleased, not everyone agreed the L1 1S and B1 paired with an L1 compact carried the oomph we needed in the outdoor back patio. Depends on who we asked. Folks up front said we had a nice balanced volume. Folks in back said they couldn't (or could barely) hear us. Band members were split. Of course the drummer said we weren't loud enough. We used the L1's to carry three vocals, accordion and a little bit of kick drum. Towers were behind us and if I had...Read More...

F1 Clear, Powerful, but not too loud!

We just did a show where we provided sound and lighting for a fun party band... the F1 system had an interesting way of sounding full and powerful without sounding too loud. The band was great and the F1 System delivered! :)Read More...
Yes, we played an indoor Halloween gig and the venue owner and Manager stated that we sounded like a live album and they loved the Bose sound. They had a DJ in between and I let him use the F1, he left his PA in th car .Read More...

Knobs on the T1 are Sticky

Some of the knobs on my T1 have become sticky, like the rubber has broken down a bit. Anyone else experience this? Are are the knobs replaceable and how/where would I go to get them? Thanks.Read More...

Onboard Tonematch EQ’s

theonemanband
Hi, I have searched the forum and the Bose website, but cannot seem to find this information; please can anyone help? I am looking for a graph/diagram or other info that would show a visible comparison between the frequency responses of the three onboard, switchable “Tonematch” eq’s (flat/guitar/mic) on the S1 Pro. Is such a thing available, as I am sure this would be of help to other users too,...........any help or links greatly appreciated! Cheers......BrianRead More...
Absolutely.....I agree, I would always let my ears be the final judge but, I would have simply liked the option to make a mental note of the frequency curves of each, just as a shortcut to a starting point, so to speak. As I said, not essential, but useful. Thank you for input ST., always appreciated!Read More...

Low Feedback in Certain Venues

Hi L1 Compact users. I use my L1 compact very often to perform my comedy-juggling show in a variety of venues, both inside and outside and it has been a fantastic piece of equipment. The only issue I have is in a reverberant gym or small space where I will get low feedback from my microphone that causes me to take a few steps away from the unit. I have the L1 Compact literally 50 feet away and strategically in front of me in gyms and it doesn't make any difference. I use a bunch of different...Read More...

2012 LiM2

I am considering buying a used 2012 L1M2 system from a reputable dealer. Any concerns about the unit being 6 years old?Read More...
Hi dblack25, Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. I wouldn't be concerned about an L1 Model II from 2012. The L1 Model II is a current unit and service is readily available if you need it, directly from Bose. You can call Bose Support to find out what service options you have is something goes wrong. Check to see if the dealer offers any kind of warranty. Once you know about service options, you can decide if an extended warranty makes sense for you. Does that help? Bose S1 Pro

Hi Gang Just thought I’d post details about the gig I did today using my newly purchased S1. When the gig was booked they specified they only wanted gentle easy listening in the background and they only expected around 40 people, so off I set with both my Compacts and the newly purchased S1. I knew it was a church hall so I went prepared because these places tend to vary in size. I got to the venue and with only 40 expected I decided not to set up on the stage and went in close and set up...Read More...

Gain Staging for T1 to two S1s

Last night I used two S1s for my acoustic duo (one guitar, two vocals). I ran the guitar and vocals into my T1 mixer which was connected to input 1 on an S1 with a TRS 1/4" cable. I then ran another TRS 1/4" cable from the output of the first S1 to the second S1. I set the input volumes of each S1 at noon to control the volume from the mixer. I was surprised that the volume of the first S1 was very quiet while the second in the chain was loud. I swapped the positions of the two S1s to...Read More...
Yeah, don’t want separate mixes. Honestly I’d never send the output of the S1 to FOH. In my experience, they want a nice mic level signal and one that will change if I need to adjust the volume of the monitor during a gig. The S1s worked well, but I really missed having a subwoofer.Read More...

Packlite with b2

Hey, I know the faq says that a sub is not recommended with the S1 but I need more low. I've seen other posts with using a f1 sub but that thing is to large and heavy. I was looking at the b2 with a packlite amp. Is it possible to use this with the S1 and has someone tried it? If yes how would you connect it up and do you need other things than the packlite and b2 since it comes with the cables and everything included. I mainly want to use it with Bluetooth stereo mode. If I connect a...Read More...

Sub Bass Recommendations

theonemanband
Hi, following on from my recent posts regarding using 2 x S1 Pro’s for my main PA., together with a Samson Auro D1200 active sub bass, I am concerned that the sub bass (having no no built in crossover, only “Thru” outputs), is sending full on and potentially damaging sub bass frequencies to the S1’s! Can anyone recommend a good, small (12”), active sub, 2 x inputs, 2 x outputs with a built in (preferrably adjustable) crossover. This seems a good bet and good value for money too...........Read More...
SORTED!!👍 Bought a fantastic small active sub-bass, a “Proel” SW110a. (V1). This little sub ticks all the boxes, small and light (18kg), 250watt, switchable high pass filter (125 / 160 Hz) and 122dBspl. Came across this by accident in the forgotten “dusty corner” of my local musuc store, not new but in absolutely mint condition and aquired it at a bargain price. Used it together with my two S1Pro’s at my two latest (fair sized) gigs, crossed over at 125Hz. The whole system sounds truly...Read More...

Can F1 812 deliver a consistent SPL of Vertical Coverage for Speech Application

The dimension of my venue (L x W x H) is 50 x 20 x 10 feet, and that of the stage (L x W) is 10 x 20 feet for Live Band House of Worship (acoustic guitar, electric bass, acoustic drums, keyboard, 4 vocals) and Speech. Regarding the vertical converge of TWO F1 812 without Sub, I am not worried about the performance in live band scenario, but I am still worried about that in Speech scenario. Therefore, I worked out a section diagram of the case for your reference. If I want these F1 812...Read More...
KT I did not check my SPL meter when doing this gig. However here is a sample of how the Bose F1 812 handled speaking in a 9k sq ft space. Hopefully this will give you an idea. https://youtu.be/NnHs_osnQ8IRead More...

Panaray series II compatibility with controller

hi all I Have recently picked up a few 402 series II and knew I would need a controller, I bought a 402c controller as I knew the 402e was for the old type. I am asking if the 402c is best for compatability with the 402 series II speakers or go for a digital controller. The only other thing I may add is a 502b or a MB12 to back them up for full range as I have 8 x 402 series II's in top condition and was thinking of hiring them out or selling them as a package setup. many thanks in advance...Read More...

I agree with what ST said about the coverage. If you want to use the Compact as a Stage monitor, pick one of the 6 output channels to use as a monitor mix and use the Main Left Output for the L1 S. (Then pan all channels to the left) Depending on the site and the coverage needed, you could use both bose units for FOH. Just put all of the instruments in the L1 S on Main L or R output and use the Compact for only vocals in the other Main output. Just pan the channels so only vocals go to the...Read More...

up grading to Model 2

I have and love the L1 Model S1 with B2..... I possable to purchase the Model 2 stack?..... as an upgrade?Read More...
Hi LarryO, Thanks for asking. Unfortunately, the Cylindrical Radiator® (stack) and the Power Stand of the two models, are not interchangeable. Each model is only available as complete unit (Cylindrical Radiator® plus matching Power Stand). Your B2 will work on both though. Bose doesn't have an upgrade option but you may be able to find a dealer who will take the L1 Model 1S as a trade-in toward an L1 Model II. That's outside any Bose involvement. STRead More...
