Pops and crackles with L1 Model 2 with T1

My daughter is a singer and uses an L1 Mod 2 with T1 Tonematch and an ipad providing backing tracks. She has her Shure Beta 87A SLX wireless microphone plugged into T1 channel 1 and her ipad plugged in to channel 3 (we have 2 ipads one with 30 pin adaptor and one with lightning adaptor - either one is the plugged to channel 3 via a 3mm to 1/4" jack adaptor). Recently, she has been experiencing pops and crackling from the speakers sometimes mid-song and sometimes when she unmutes the mic...Read More...

Wanted to express my gratitude to all of you at Bose Tech Support for handling my Tonematch warranty issue. Fantastic service, and took care of things in such a professional manner. All 4 L1's are working great! Although I am continuing with my solo work, I have recently been invited to join a full band, and will be unleashing the power and clarity of the 4 systems in a full on hard rock band... and looking forward to many more years of dependable service. Hi Ron ( @Apex Bassist ) Thank you for joining the Community. I noticed your post in the Ask Bose for Help section. Hi Ron, Here is some more information about setting the trim for channel 4. Set Input Trim Turn the Trim setting up until the Trim Light is solid green with occasional flickers of yellow. Use the Trim lights as your guide. (The exact position of the Trim knob is not important). If you see flickers of red (below), turn the Trim down. You are definitely nearing or in compression. Turn the Trim down until there are no red flickers. STRead More...

How many L1s for 1000 people indoor gig

I'm wondering if it would be suitable to use L1s for an indoor gig with 700 to 1000 people. The room dimensions are - Width: 18.7m Length: 33m Height: 7m Total Floor Space: 618m There will be a stage for us to play on, i've see DJs use 4 L1s placed on different corners of rooms. What would be the best setup here? Or best to go with a traditional PA setup? Here's an image of the room, though it will be setup for dancing, not a conference like the pic.Read More...

B2 Compatibility

I recently purchased a B2 bass module for my L1 Model ll system, according to the B2 manual the power stand firmware should be updated to version 1.4 in order to use the three setting available on the B2, as I don't have a Tonematch unit I took both of my power-stands to the store where I bought the B2, after spending most of the morning figuring how to do this we eventually managed to update one of the power-stands firmware to v 1.4 but even after the update I was still only able to use the...Read More...

802 mk 11 controller compaability

Hi I have a lot of bose products including 8 pairs of 802 mk 11 speakers I am confused by a post in the forum where you indicate that a few of your controllers will not support the 802 mk 11 when the data pdf states it will. My controller (802 c) has packed in and I am trying to confirm that a bose panaray digital controller will support the MK 11s The advice in this forum states it will not however if I download the manual there are a bunch of mono, stereo and bi amp presets for the 802...Read More...
Hi mo, Thank you for your question! The current controller is the ControlSpace SP-24, which does not have the 802II preset in the latest firmware. A brief history: The original Panaray controller (from 10-15 years ago) did have the 802II eq curve. But then the second version, the Panaray System Digital Controller II which was discontinued in 2012, did not have the 802II eq curve. If you were to purchase an SP-24 today, you would have to use the 802III curve, and that's ok. The SP-24 has...Read More...

L1 model 1 with mixing desk

Hey, So we've had our 2 L1 models 1 towers now for a few months. The first few gigs we played we tried running all instruments directly through the base units but we were being told by people at gigs that they couldn't hear the vocals from the left speaker if they were on the right of the room. So, we went mack to our old setup we used with Mackie SRM450s but with the L1 towers. This setup is everything runs to our peavey desk, then to an EQ and then out to the 1st XLR input on each L1. I...Read More...
Hi Gilbert, I have often setup my stage with the drums off to one side. This has made a tremendous difference in the stage volume and the drums no longer split the stage into left and right sides. T1 settings

Hi Can anyone suggest which T1 settings to use for vocals, acoustic guitar and stomp box/porch board please? I have 2x L1 compacts and a model 2 with B2. 90% of the gigs I do are with 1x L1c and tonematch. L1c on a chair with one extension. I sit on a chair to sing and play acoustic guitar while tapping a homemade "electric floor tile" with my foot. Shure Sm86, Gibson j200 and j45, piezo on a floor tile. Hi Bob, Good to see you again. If you're up for an experiment, take your L1® Model II, T1®, B2 and a long microphone cable, a microphone, guitar, stompbox into a gig sized room. On your vocal microphone channel use the FX Mute button to turn off the effects. Sing and set the L1® at least as loud as you perform. Take a walk around in the room as you sing. Listen for the natural reverb. If you have a way to record the sound (even a phone will do), record as you play and sing with and without...Read More...

Bose L1 Compact vs Bose Mk11

Hi folks I am currently using a pair of Bose L1 Compacts with the Tonematch which is absolutely superb. I am a solo singer/guitarist working to pro backing tracks with the guitar and vocal live and I am very satisfied with my set up and the sound I am getting. using pedals on my vocals (condenser mic) with new tonematch 1...

I use pedals on my vocals - I like to mix up my own reverbs and sound strangeness. I use a condenser mic. I can't figure out how to do this with this new tonematch/Bose L1 is system. I often will want to be plugging my guitar into 4/5 also. I can't figure this out.... Any help from experienced users or Bose techs would be deeply appreciated - preferably in very simple English because I do not yet speak 'sound man.' Though that is my ultimate goal. Thank you kindly.Read More...

Establishing mic feedback frequency.

Garry
Good Morning / Afternoon all. I have just been looking at the YouTube videos and one that did interest me was using the Parametric EQ. I have read about using the Para EQ to attenuate problem frequencies, this requires you to set the boost to +10db and 0.20 oct. then slowly turn up the volume till just before feedback. Then adjust the frequency control until feedback occurs. Then turn the boost down to -3db (ish) I suppose with some practice this could be a quick method of reducing feedback...Read More...
Hi Garry, Yes. Using the Tuner is a great way to identify a problem frequency. I've used it with instruments like a guitar or bass. That's easy when you can play the offending note, look at the Tuner and see the frequency. I haven't tried it with a microphone specifically for microphone feedback. Please tell us in more detail how you would do it. Thanks, STRead More...

Upgrading to L1 Model 2 with B1

Hi Folks I have been using a pair of L1 Compacts for about four month and I am so impressed with them that I am seriously considering an upgrade to an L1 Model 2 with the B1 Bass Module. I bought one Compact just to see how I'd get on with the array system and a week later I decided to buy a second because I was that impressed with it, I didn't even consider a Model 2 at the time, I just opted for a second Compact. T1 scenes

The Saint
I've had my L1 MII, T1 and B1 for around 4 years now and love it. I use it for electric and acoustic guitar, plus my vocals. I use an amp simulator for the electric guitar and when I need acoustic for the next gig, I've just gone into channel two (which I use for all my guitars) and changed the settings and EQ. I've now decided to save these settings using the scene facility. Yes, I know, it's taken a while for me to get wise on that...!! I have several acoustics, all with different style...Read More...
Thanks ST, no need to apologise. I've spent a few days playing around with various guitars and the T1 in a way that I've not done before. Hiss that gets louder with louder volumes

I bought the Bose L1 is this month. From Sweetwater, I heard it was supposed to 'run silently.' Lots of reviews also say this. I do a lot of a cappella and quiet stuff sometimes, so this sounded good to me. However the speaker tower has a white noise/hiss which gets louder with louder volumes, sounding to me like water running. I have a high quality Furman conditioner I'm plugging it into - not the wall. I checked all cables and mics. I also tried turning on just the tower with no Tonematch,...Read More...

Is The B2 Just Too Much?!

Forum: Solo Acts
Matt Wahl
I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this or if I should have tacked this on to the guitar thread I started but here goes: I'm messing with a new guitar, a Tom Anderson Crowdster. It's a thin-bodied chambered acoustic guitar. No sound hole. I like a lot of things about it but I'm having a really hard time dialing it in through my L1 Model 2 w/B2 and my T1 when set up in our living room. Now I know this room might not be a typical live music venue but I guess I feel like I should be...Read More...
Hi Matt, thanks from me too for keeping us in the picture regarding the different things you've been trying in the Quest to make the Crowdster work for you. It would be boring if everything was really easy, and this forum would be a lot quieter than it is. The "But.....I woke up this morning at 3:51am with the thought that before I get rid of this guitar, I should try medium strings (.013-.056)" is the sort of thing that can happen to me if I've got things that won't let go. Hi Avi, Thanks for the additional information. I don't have a MAC so I can't test your idea here. You can try it. I doubt you can break anything. But it may not be possible to configure the MAC to use the headphone out for your backing tracks, and USB as the audio input for recording at the same time. This may depend on how much flexibility you have in the applications you are using for audio playback and recording. If you try it out, please come back and tell us how it works.
