anyone using f1 tops and subs with L1M2

Just wondering if anyone is mixing the L1 system with the F1 system. example: L1M2 with F1 Top and SubRead More...
HI I had used the setup with Two L1M2s and two F1+Subs. I found that eventhough L1 is theoretically 500W and F1 is 1000W, L1M2 performs much better than the F1s. F1s are more crisper, but L1s are not bad too... SO I preferred to use all L1s .. But I am playing around to see to get more suble base if i hook up just the F1subs along with the L1s.. Wil try it in my next gig. Thanks Siji AnandRead More...

A big weekend for the F1 system!

jdbassentertainment.com
The big show was last weekend where I have been perparing for... The F1 performed great! After this weekend I now know I finally have the perfect system for my live sound needs... (four F1 stacks) I set it up exactly like the Bose tech PJ told me to, with the tops staggered in height and all subs in the center (under the stage). Set up and tear down was a breeze and I had plenty of headroom! The 812 tops sounded clear even with an empty tent which was not the case with my JBL system I used...Read More...

Bose L1 Cutting out at High Volumes

I have my Bose setup as I always do. I push the volume a bit, not clipping, and the entire Bose L1 cuts out. If I lower the volume, the sound returns. I have changed power cables, signal cables, disconnected the B2, etc... Any suggestions?Read More...
I have had this many times from my L1 B2 setup. Very frustrating / embarrassing. The T1 goes blank, but lit and the sound comes back after a few seconds, usually the main volume is around the 5 past 12 mark. No clipping on the lights. I have purchased a BOSE seperate power supply for the T1 and run a TRS cable to the power stand. Currently it is holding up well and not shutting down, even at much higher volume. It wouldn't surprise me if the CAT 5 cabling could be at fault under high load.Read More...

Maximum crowd attainable

Hi, all. I'm in the final steps of deciding what to buy for my newly formed sound company. I evaluated JBL SRX835 (over 20% higher price), Presonus StudioLive 3xxAi (almost same price), even JBL VRX932LAP line arrays (using just one per side as a starting point - even thou, twice the price). I checked with my local representative for Bose, and he claims the F1 with its sub, one pair per side, could cover up to 1500 people crowds. I'm talking about live music (rock concert, basically). What...Read More...
Keep the subs in the center and stagger the height not letting the grills over lap. I have had good luck leaving them straight and sometimes angling the to center 812 tops inward slightly.... Here is me setting up at a show... With my quad top/subs F1 system... BTW the speakers on the stage are just my monitors I haven't set up yet.Read More...

Bose F1 vs established RnB nightclub

Nick from New Zealand
Even though I've had the F1s for about a year, I finally got the opportunity to really push them this week. I was doing sound for a live duo who just sing over backing tracks, and I was DJing the breaks. A pair of 812s with the F1 subs. The resident DJ turned up at the end of our show and said the bass was "almost as good" as the in-house system. He had half a dozen subwoofers ranging from 15" to 18" and 4 pairs of dual 15" tops (in total). Sure, the bass might not have been quite as big,...Read More...
I have been super impressed with the F1 system... Although I think the 812 tops are amazing by them selves ---> You don't get the sound of total awesomeness until you add the F1 subs!!Read More...

Strange warm-up period (partial tower - then kicks in later)

Hello! I'm experiencing a new issue with my Model II + B2 (no tonematch). It's been serving us so well for 4 years now, so it really owes me nothing - but I'm hoping I can fix this issue. For the last few weeks, when I set it all up and begin playing, it's bass-heavy - with some treble/mid through the tower... It'll play like this for 20-30 minutes, then unexpectedly it'll come to life and the full amount of treble..etc comes blasting out of the tower. It works just fine after that, never...Read More...

F1 Efficency Saves The Day!

jdbassentertainment.com
I was hired to provide sound for an outdoor concert where they would be using a generator for power. Right before sound check the military 31,000 watt generator burst into flames and the power cut out! Scrambling at the last minute the event director was able to come up with two other generators - a 4000 watt and a 3000 watt (I got the 4000 watt and the backline and lights ran off the 3000 watt... Originally I had two 812 tops and two F1 subs hooked up... because I didn't want to add to any...Read More...
It was! I love mixing sound with my F1 system (no matter the configuration) - the 812 tops and F1 subs are truly amazing tools!!!Read More...

phase cancellation

Yesterday I had the opportunity to answer a question Ive had, I finally received my second l1 model 2 system with B2 bass and tonematch. I had a gig at a new club and i brought both systems. I was so unsure if i should setup both systems, finally I decided to go for it. Not having 20ft between them i decided to stagger them by 4 feet, and 11 feet between. first I started just playing pre-recorded music. I worked flawless, I walked around the room looking for dead areas, but there were none.Read More...
Hi ST, just to clarify. My "Just remember, that if you do stagger the L1's from back to front (as with big concerts to extend the "reach" of the loudspeakers) and the distance becomes greater than just a few feet," was only meant to apply to cases where the "reach" of a loudspeaker system is being extended by placing extra loudspeakers further away from the stage loudspeakers towards the audience further away from the main loudspeakers so that people at the back so to speak would be getting...Read More...

F1 Subs wood damage danger - See Picture!

jdbassentertainment.com
To all the F1 sub owners - be careful when moving your subs out of the bags. I am not sure how this happened, but I noticed it the other day... The design of the subs seems to be extremely well thought out with plastic protecting the wooded part of the box on all main contact points... but this area on the front corners along the grill is susceptible to damage as you see here. Just thought you show all be aware... I will now be more careful to guard against another mishap like this again.Read More...

Trim on Base Unit

I see lots of recommendations for trim and volume levels on the Tonematch Engine but little on the trim recommendations for the base units. Would running these at maximum trim and then adjusting via the tonematch help feedback issues on microphones?Read More...
Hi Howard, "My last gig I used my two Bose systems linked across but had major problems with mike feedback from two vocal mikes (channels were set on the T1 to the specific mike)" Does this mean that you have 2 L1 systems but only one T1? If so, how far away from each other are you placing them? If they are not fairly close to each other you will not really be gaining much in the actual "coverage" and "volume" sense. ( Are talking Model 2's here). If you are running 2 mikes through...Read More...

Will one L1 model 2 cover a room 50ft by 100ft

Will one L1 model 2 cover a room 50ft by 100ft?Read More...
Hi EKAPOP, Sorry for the difficulty. I think the best advice I can give you is to get the person speaking as close to the mic as possible. To “eat the mic” provides the most acoustic gain against potential feedback. Yamaha should have a procedure for setting the gains but I suggest doing it visually. Turn the L1 Analog Input knob all the way down so the system is silent. Have the speakers talk/sing as loudly as they will. Turn the gain up for that channel until you see a peak light. Back off...Read More...

Amplifing Elementary school choir Using L1 System and condenser mics

So I thinking about purchasing a pair of L1 Model 1s units for a variety of applications as my Elementary School's Sound System. One of the potential applications would be to mic a large group of singers (think up to 50 5th graders) with a pair of condenser mics. Would I have serious feedback issues with the Bose L1 system? Can I make this work? Is there a pair of condenser mics you would recommend for this application? Thanks! Mr. Holland Music TeacherRead More...
Honest to God truth that's my last name! Super helpful, Chris. I am crazy lucky to be at a school the is insanely well equipped. The KSMs 137s were actually going to be my first choice, so it sounds like I'm on the right track. I was going to have a pair of L1s on either side of the choir so the mics should not be directly facing the system. Tone match is also in budget as well. I'm getting excited about this. Tonematch problem - noisy channel

I am getting a bubbling noise on one of the preamp channels. All channels have some hiss when turned up but this one channel also has a lower frequency bubbling noise. All channels are set the same. I had another Tonematch and it did the same, but worse, on a different channel. It is not the trim but the channel volume that introduces the noise. I have only just bought it so can send it back to the shop but want to know if it is fixable? I love the functionality of the unit but don't want to...Read More...

Hi Loreanob, Yes, a lot of mics for only a single L1. You could try only mic'ing what really needs it, (probably not the horns) in that small of a room. Using guitar pickups could reduce the number of mics as well. In my band, I only mic my bass drum, the other drums are fine for our volume. Our quartet uses two Model IIs and a Compact. Bassist & guitarist share one MII, one guitarist uses his own Compact. We run 4 vocal mics, thru our respective L1s.Read More...

feedback/buzzing

Hi, I have a problem with a type of feedback that I have never experienced before. I am using a Bose LI system 1 and the Bose Tone match audio engine with a wireless shure beta 87a mic, singing to backing tracks. The problem I am getting is hard to describe ,a sort of intermittent buzzing. Almost as if a jack that should be plugged in is touching a metal object. I even get this some times when the mic is on but I am no where near it and there is no music being played either. Any ideas pleaseRead More...
