Behringer X18 Air Rack

I have 2 L1 S towers for my 5pc semi-acoustic group. The 8TS mixer is great, but if I need to ever add anything on top of the 5 vocals, acoustic guitar and keyboard (which seems to happen often), I have to add an additional mixer. I also want to have a sound man mix remotely via tablet, and add the bass guitar and electric guitar into the main mix. I am looking to see if anyone has experience using a Behringer x18 Air Rack in place of the ToneMaster mixer, and if there are any tricks to be...Read More...
I have been working with the XR18 the last week and so far so good although I'm having an issue with using MIDI via Bandhelper to control the snapshots functionality. See post here - http://forum.arlomedia.com/ind...hp/topic,2325.0.html We are a 6 piece band and the lead and backup vocals jump around to 5 band members so I wanted to use this product to better manage the vocals but also get some value from paring back to 2 towers from 3 and then if all this works I can move to IEMs b/c being...Read More...

Wireless Mic Experiences with L1M2

CityFolk
Anyone out there have any experience with this wireless mic adapter (or something similar)? It’s intriguing because you can plug in a transmitter into your existing dynamic mic and its receiver into your mixer. I don’t have any special long distance requirements, just tired of wrangling with cables. I’d never be more than 10 feet away from the L1, however, I still want quality sound from our Shure 58A Beta mics. Not sure if something like this would adversely “color” the sound.Read More...
Agreed, but the comforting thing is I always have my cables as backup.Read More...

Coloured slip covers ...

troubador
Whatever happened about the coloured slip covers for the S1? I see what looks like them, at the NAMM video by Bose ... are these available for us to buy? I'm aware of the (boring) black slip covers - US$29 I believe. My question is about coloured covers like Bose shows in its NAMM video. Here's one of the videos: https://youtu.be/0zlVXW_f3sQ The video I saw was on Instagram ...Read More...
Hi Troubador @ST Any update on when the coloured slip covers will be up for sale? There hasn't been a formal announcement yet. Stay tuned. I hope to have more information soon. When I do, I'll post about it here in the community. Thanks for asking. STRead More...

Powering T1 from battery.

Hi there I have L1M2 B2 +T1 and S1 Pro I have a Behringer 1002B battery mixer for extra channels when using S1 When using ac power I prefer using T1 with external power supply over 1002B with S1 Is there a way of powering the T1 using a battery? I could use for example a 12v 4a/h SLA battery and pure sine wave 600w inverter to 240v then step down to 18v using the Bose power supply but it seems a bulky solution I see the pins on the power supply output are +18 v Rtn and -18v rtn so its not a...Read More...
Hi KingBiscuit, Unfortunately, battery packs that tick all the boxes are at least double the price where I live. But even if I could get a unit like the one to which I linked above, I probably wouldn't. Why would I need to run a ToneMatch mixer without AC power: Tonal shaping or more inputs? Brief thoughts: Busking in an urban environment Fine control available with a ToneMatch mixer may not be heard by the audience Although I prefer to use my phantom powered microphone, I have dynamic...Read More...

RE: Connecting my L1 compact & Tonematch to an external PA

Hello, I’m a solo female singer & using my L1 compact & tonematch in its simplest form of my iPad connected to channel 4/5 of my tonematch & my radio mic in channel 1. I have gigs where I’m having to use their PA system because I need to use their speakers system because they have them for the back of room. Is there a way I can use my Bose PA & connect with the venues mixer & speaker system just to use the rear speakers and use my Bose for the main room? Hope this is...Read More...
Giselle, Given the option, you'd want them to plug your Bose outputs into a channel (or two, if applicable) that is set for Line Level. If they plug you into a channel set up for a mic input, the Bose's (or any mixer's) line level output will be too strong and overdrive the channel into distortion. Hopefully they will know what you mean...if not, you may have to use the T1's Aux output as ST suggested as an alternative, as you would be able to drop the level of that output down low enough so...Read More...

Compare BOSE L1-M2-B2 with EVOLVE 50

Here's hoping that this is a compliant question within this forum: I am a one-man band/keyboard player that needs high quality top and especially bottom for up to 200 people. Has anybody benchmarked/compared the overall power, quality and convenience of the BOSE L1-M2-B2 system with the EVO Evolve 50 system? I'd appreciate your feedback and observations.Read More...
I currently own 2 electro-voice evolve 50's and have used 2 Bose L1 model 2's at my church for many years. The Evolve 50 seems louder, 127dB for the Evolve vs 121dB for the L1 model2 The Evolve 50 to my ears sounds like more of a PA system (very punchy), where the Bose L1 Model 2 has a more refined elegant sound I use the Evolve 50s for one of my DJ systems, works really well for that application, but when I perform (vocals plus my acoustic guitar), Bose is always my choice. I will use S1...Read More...

S1 issue? Channel 2 substantially quieter than Channel 1

Hi everybody, I´m Bruno from Germany and just recently I bought a S1. I intend to use it as an universal "make-it-loud-unit" for my kemper, for my acoustic and microphone at house concerts and for streaming music via bluetooth and as a bass amp and... and. I have since 2 or 3 weeks and I´m very happy with it. Today I noticed that there is a significant volume difference between channel 1 and 2. If i put my Acoustic from channel 1 to 2 the signal drops quite strong (perhaps 6 to 9 db?).Read More...

What's changed for you in live sound?

ST
In another discussion, I got a chance to reflect on how things have changed in live sound. A few years ago I would have scoffed at the ideas I would: Play a carbon fibre guitar for most of my acoustic gigs Use a 16-pound, battery-powered portable PA for real gigs Use a 12-pound amp profiler through a personal PA to replace all my guitar amps I've changed my thinking about what's possible and the value I can get for my money. What kinds of things have changed for you? STRead More...

Cannot daisy chain effectively.

I have had this problem since the very beginning. Have had the same problem before and after updating the firmware. Had both my speakers replaced quickly by Bose (thank you for your fast response) but no matter what the problem persists. I have met with friends who also have 2 Bose S1 Pros and the very same problem exists. It is preventing me from using two speakers and once, in a concert hall, I was forbidden to use the daisy chained pair because of the noise. Here is the problem. A single...Read More...
Hi sailedaway, I've done some more testing here and we've talked about it at this end. Please try this. On the first S1 Pro turn off the volumes of all channels Run the LINE OUT to the second S1 Pro system. On the second S1 Pro, set the volume to 10:00 o'clock . This will give you the same volume on the second unit as the first On the first S1 Pro bring up the volume to the appropriate level on the channels you are using I tested this setup here. The volume and noise level of both systems is...Read More...

Hi Josh.Spurlock, Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. I'm glad you're here. Sure. Use an 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve to XLR cable. S1's Pros are so good I am selling my QSC's, NEED YOUR ADVICE

After Purchasing TWO (2) Bose S1 Pro’s I am ready to sell my QSC K8’s. I know they are not the same category; the QSC’s are louder and more more power. I just don't use them. I will never sell my TWO (2) Bose L1 Model 1S Single B2 Bass Portable Line Array System s. I will retain them for larger venues of 300+ Guests. For all other small and medium gigs, I am planning on using the S1 Pro’s. You can't beat them; the sound, weight, battery power, the bluetooth are such a game changer. I love...Read More...
Interesting discussion and I would like to address the original question from the OP. I bought two S1 Pro’s to replace my Yamaha DXR10’S for smaller gigs, together with a Proel SW110 active sub (crossover set @ 160Hz) for larger venues. However, I have been truly amazed at the sound across all the various sizes of venues (Guild 12 string guitar, vocal + self recorded drum & bass trax). Last weekend I did a venue for an audience 80+ people, played for one hour with ONE S1 running on...Read More...

WirelessDJ, These are only intended for Line Level audio at a max. It's actually not uncommon to use CAT5e/6/7 for DMX and analog audio (both mic and line level) as Category cable is rated at 110 ohms, which is the same as DMX and digital audio mic lines (which is great for analog audio as well). Just make sure you use shielded CAT cable that is designed for portable use (i.e. not installation grade cable as it will break more easily over time). You CANNOT use them for speaker level audio,...Read More...

Adding a "slave" mixer to the Tonematch 4

Hi, I am thinking of getting rid of my massive powered speakers for a Bose L1 Model 2 but I have a question: I have three singers; one acoustic guitar; bass guitar and a percussionist. I am in need of two more inputs OR get the Tonematch 8. I would like to save some money by using my existing 8 channel mixer to add two more channels. Hi catmoondaddy, a warm welcome to the community from me too. Yes you can connect a 3rd party mixer to a T4S. ST has answered this question, but I'm going to throw in a suggestion of my own. There is a Tonematch connection which you can use with a T1 or T4S, and there is also an analogue input...Read More...
