L1 Compact right for our duo?

Hi ,I have been reading about the l1 compact and was thinking of getting one for our duo. We use backing tracks along with one electric guitar and 2 vocals. The music we play is stuff like the beatles , everly brothers, status quo to country etc. At present we use a Mackie dl806 mixer with 2xdlm8 tops and 1x dlm12s sub. So would the l1 compact be able to handle all that playing to an audience of a max of 200? oh and be as loud as the mackies?Read More...
yep... ST was telling you correctly early in this thread....I could sit here and tell you about many different venue setups where I have been more than impressed with the compact..but it still comes down to how much energy you want/need to put in what for you is a typical venue...but glad you at least tried the compact...couple quick examples though... we have done numerous wedding ceremonies outdoors..up to 200 seated guests..trax, acoustic guitars, keyboard, even string trio/quartets..and...Read More...

Thank you so much. I am totally stupid!! that worked out just fine. thank you for your quick response!! Also If you have any pointers or tips to assist me with using TC Helicon's Voice Live 3 with My tone Match and L1 Model 1s B2 system I would Love that. I like the Voice Live for harmonies!! Hey! I run a VL3X through a Model 1 L1 x 2 B1's. The tonematch setting on the L1 amp is set to 00, flat response. I have recently started playing with the built in compressor of the VL. I have now turned off the adaptive mode and set it to manual and at max (thereshold -30 ratio 4.0.) I find it really helps with my vocals. I also re-mix and add EQ etc to my backing tracks. I run a single XLR in mono mode and at line level to the L1. I've yet to actually play live however! I am toying with...Read More...

I've got my hands on an iPad Pro 9.7 running IOS 10.2 for a little while for testing. I went out and got the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter and I can confirm that it works fine with the T1® for playback. Note: You lose volume control on the iPad. You have to control the volume on the T1®. You will probably want to route the USB from PC setting to Channel 4/5 so you can control the volume. See USB port on the T1® for details on how to do that. I tried it with Garageband and thought I heard...Read More...

Extension on L1 Compact

Hallo! I wonder why you must use two extensions, instead of one? If you play in small venues, it would be nice with only one extension. Regards Jan - Eve.Read More...
I've used the Compact in all 3 configurations. The time that the one extension tube worked out perfectly was when I had to use it for a business conference, but for one reason or another, I had to place the speaker on top of the table, and using it in it's fully compact form didn't sound as good, using 2 extension tubes would hit the ceiling, so I used one and it worked out ok. Another time worked out when I had to place the Compact directly in front of a podium and obviously didn't want to...Read More...

High pitched squeal from L1 model II

Hi. Newbie here. I'm trying out an L1 model 2 that I only just pulled out of storage yesterday. It belonged to my dad, who died a few years ago. I used it for a couple hours today and it sounded great, but now it's making a high pitched feedback-like squeal (or maybe more like electrical interference), even when the volume is off and nothing is plugged in. Sound still comes through when something is plugged in, but the squeal doesn't go away. I tried a couple different power outlets with no...Read More...
An update. Just got the stand back from Bose repair and it has a new problem. The power/fault light turns red repeatedly and the fan keeps starting up, with or without the speakers attached or a cable into the input. With a cable in, the sound drops out in tandem with the red light. So back off to Bose it goes, though they did upgrade the shipping to overnight. Even if this thing eventually works, I can't see having enough confidence in it to use it for a gig.Read More...

What determines when to upgrade to L1 Model 1S or larger system?

What determines when to upgrade to L1 Model 1S or larger system? I used my L1 Compact quite successfully for a solo gig in a ballroom with about 120 plus in attendance. I believe everyone heard the performance well, but, I was wondering if there were clear criterion or limits to consider when using the Compact?Read More...
Hi, Rick! The Mackie mixer will work fine with the L1® Model 1S analog input on the power stand. Basically, you would set it up the same way as you did when connecting to the L1® Compact channel 2 1/4" input. For others following along, we have some more detailed notes about that here. Stereo Mixer to Mono L1® Yes, you could run the TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony-G XT full mix output to the L1® Model 1S analog input. Use an XLR to 1/4" Tip-Ring-Sleeve converter. I've done the same thing with a...Read More...

Sub cone color

Has anyone noticed this color on their sub conesRead More...
It is actually on the cones themselves. I don't want to take the cage off, I noticed when I sat side by side for for a show we were doing. Definitely a difference between one sub and the other. Still produces sound as to what extent if any, is sound degraded I have yet to check. I plan on giving Bose a call today as suggested earlier.Read More...

Taylor 614CE with ES2 with Bose Compact L1 and Tonematch

I have had a lot of trouble getting my brand new Taylor 614ce to sound right through the Bose TM. It has the new ES2 pickups. They run very hot and have caused so much feedback. I've been on the phone with Taylor 4 times and have tried the phase switch, adjusting saddle screws, sinking pickup, using T5 setting. You name it and i have tried it. If I plug the Taylor 614ce into any other PA it sounds beautiful. I plug it into the TM and it sounds artificial. Like a cheap laminate guitar. I have...Read More...

Hi Gatodrums, Great news and congratulations from me too. Nice for you to have such an understanding (and apparently loving) wife. I do, however, think that it was nice of her to wait until you'd posted your question on the forum otherwise we may not have had the pleasure of "meeting" you. Please keep us posted as to things you might get up to with your new gear (gigs etc. and gigs at home count too). We have a forum here called "At the Gig and Rehearsal" for just such things. Has anyone mounted their ToneMatch into a console? I'm thinking about switching from the mixer I'm using to the ToneMatch, as 90% of the work I'm doing is with either an L1 M1S or L1 M2, and I'll need to build a new custom DJ console. Pictures if you've got 'em would be awesome please. I picture something like the console I used back in 2005, but with the T1 in place of the mixer in the photo.Read More...
Just a thought, I would too like a rack mountable T1 in either an 8 or 12 XLR input arrangement. Cheers, JamesRead More...

Taylor gs mini es2 feedback issue

Getting feedback from the d string on my gs mini equipped with es2 pickup. I run L1 compact with t1 with taylor preset. With all outputs at mid range I can feedback from my gs mini only. Hi Hunter, Hunter wrote: "I have a 314 with es2 with no issues. I'm gonna assume the problem is with my GS mini pickup." If that were the case it may be a warranty thing. As you state that it's an ES-2 pick-up the guitar can't be very old. It should be worth getting in touch with your dealer or Taylor direct. I'd at least try that. It doesn't cost to ask. Tony Just one last question. Have you tried the GS-mini out with another PA/Acoustic amp to see if you have similar problems? Just a thought.Read More...

How to connect two L1 compacts and a Mackie Pro FX 8 mixer and mic and laptop

Forum: Vocals
I use jazz backing tracks to provide music for my vocals. What is the proper way to connect my digital Shure ULX Beta 58 digital mic and a Mackie Pro FX 8 mixer and my Macbook Pro. How do I decide if I need two compact units or just one?Read More...
Hi Rene, You've raised some great points. If you don't have a preference, then you're probably fine with mono. It makes things simpler in lots of ways. That means that you can set up your system the same way for small rooms and larger venues. Simple. This depends on your skill with the Mackie Pro FX 8 mixer. The T1® has a Preset for your Shure ULX Beta 58 digital microphone. That takes out all the guesswork for getting great sound from your L1® (whichever model). You can read all about how...Read More...

Hi Oldghm, Good to see you! I had to get the iPad for a project. I haven't gotten around to actively using it for anything music related. Hi, Thomas, If you have videos on Youtube, you can post a link to them here. If not, I'll look forward to your videos when you have a chance to edit something. I'm sorry that one of your A1 PackLite Amps failed. Yes, in your situation I would use the two B2s for the drums and one for bass. If you have time, move the A1 and B2 from drums to bass. What sounds best to you when you are playing loud? If you are going to hear a difference, it will probably be most noticeable at a distance,...Read More...

Connecting 2 tonematches?!?!

Bose F1 Model 812 with Sub configuration setup

Need help with configuration with just the one single 812 and sub. Trying to hook it up with a mixer but not getting my music in stereo from my dj software. Thank you...Read More...
Hi Jay Tee, Thank you for the question! First of all, I do want to start with the fact that the F1 system is a Mono system, you will never get true stereo sound from this system. However, in order to not lose any of the sound you need to do 1 of 2 things. First, using a single cable can be done. You can run a single XLR (or balanced 1/4") cable out of the mixer (left of right doesn't matter) to the input on the F1, and you will need to make sure you have not panned any channels to the left...Read More...
