Streaming Tutorial: Bose ToneMatch T4S & T8S Mixers

ST
Hi, Todd. When you play the T4S .wav files - is the volume too low? I don't have Garage Band, but I've just re-read your posts. Can you set the output level higher in Garage Band when you export to .wav files? What is in the other .wav files you are comparing to the files you get from the T4S? What is the content? If those files are pre-recorded content (backing tracks), they may have been recorded at a higher sampling rate. STRead More...

Ok, you asked, here we go: The S1 pro is used by many acoustic players and a good EQ with 3 full parametric bands, low and hi shelf and a low cut ist really needed to make a pick up sound useful. The possibility to import a (just a few) IRs with an IR mixing tool so that the impulse responses can be added in the right amount. For many (not so much for me) a light chorus additionally to the reverb is useful (don't overdo it). A master volume wouldn't be bad either. Those few little...Read More...

Hi ScubaBadger, I understand why the stereo backing tracks would sound better with two L1s run in stereo. Do you notice a difference (two L1s) with the mic channel centered compared to a single L1? You would probably find the drop-off in volume over distance would greater if you the drivers were run in alternating directions. Basically, the volume would drop-off faster. STRead More...

For me are: 1.- Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi to control the features on the S1 from a tablet or smartphone that would have an open source mixer with a master volume (remember Apple is not open source please). I think this should be available across all live music products anyway. Wireless speed here is not needed. Its fast enough as it is for this purpose. 2.- No tone control. I don't believe tone control has a place on a power amp. That Tone-match engine, yes. But no conventional tone fiddling.Read More...

For that reason, using only 1 extension gives me a better mix of bass and upper speakers. I set it up this way probably 95 % of the time and have never had a problem with that. Any chance in the future, bose would have a key changer to download to the tone match. I use karaoke, and the line audio that could be key changed would be a nice feature. I know these fancy karaoke machines have it all, but I use a very small CD+G player with a 5X5 screan that just plays the audio and graphics, no key changer. I have one, but it's just another thing to carry around. I play keyboard, the KN-7000 and it has the transpose on it, with the frequency changes etc. Just curious...Tks..Read More...

Adrian Belew has been using two LI model II systems as part of his live sound rig for the better part of a year now. From time to time we receive questions asking how Adrian is using the L1's in his live set up and in the April 2009 issue of Premier Guitar magazine he addresses this question. Excerpt from the April issue of Premier Guitar: "The third thing I use is the Bose L1 setup. In fact, I have two of them, and they are the towers you see. The technology is incredible. Hi Corey, Thank you for joining the Forum. FIRST - be sure to read my post above yours, very carefully. Okay - I'd try the Gibson Preset for the Hummingbird even though your Dove has Mahogany back and sides and the Hummingbird is Maple. I happen to have two guitars that are almost identical in every respect except that one has Maple back and sides and the other, Rosewood. Strange though...Read More...

Set up the T1 for stereo

Hello everyone, This is a guide on how to set up a T1 feeding two separate sources for left and right, e.g. two model II's or model I's. T1 is designed to be a mono device, so the setup for stereo is a little complicated. But, once set up, you can easily control volume of the stereo feed from your stereo device (keyboard, DJ mixer, iPod, etc.). Please note - you will not be able to use reverb in this configuration. Most keyboards already have stereo reverb built in - you can use that reverb...Read More...

If there is a song that you've always wanted to do, or maybe a song that you "own" & would like to do - bring it on. Don't be afraid to do something obscure or interesting. This is a nightclub/small-auditorium sized performance space we use as our live music laboratory. Bow Junction purchased three Cylindrical Radiator(r) speakers more than a year ago now and use them in a variety of situations. Bow...Read More...

Linking devices for an singer.

So sorry if this has been asked as I have searched but can't find an exact answer. Is it possible to link up a Bose S1 with another type of speaker (i.e. soundlink revolve or similar) that is also bluetooth compatible? What I am trying to achieve is, a care home have asked me to perform outside with my Bose S1 while the people inside can open the patio doors & windows and watch the show from a safe distance. Now at the moment they can just open the doors & windows and listen, but if...Read More...
Hi, Tecnikal. I understand - really I do. If you wanted to try it you'll need a cable like this. Hosa Cable CMP105 1/8 Inch TRS to 1/4 Inch TS Cable - 5 Foot The 1/4 inch (6.3mm) Tip-Sleeve jack (bigger one) goes to the S1 Pro line out. The 1/8 Tip-Ring-Sleeve jack (smaller one) goes to a Bluetooth transmitter. I would use a long-range transmitter . The inexpensive ones typically are only good for up to 10 meters (30 feet). That's not going to be good enough for your application. I have a...Read More...

Mix from single input sub

I'm planning to run from a Peavy sub to my F1 812 mains. My sub only has a single input (so I guess I just run one cable from the left output on the mixer to the single input?). There are 2 outputs on the sub going to the 812s so no issues there. Is this the correct setup? I know the F1 Sub has two inputs - I'd be more comfortable with that. Is it unusual for a sub to only have 1 input? Any better way to connect everything?Read More...
Hi, Critter. I would run everything including kick drum and bass through the mains. There are frequencies from both above the range of the subwoofer. Add kick drum and bass to the aux out for the extra low-end support. All good? STRead More...

Question: Can I use the USB Out into an iPad with an Adapter to Live Stream?

Happy Memorial Day everyone. I did a live stream Saturday night. I use my iPad and a Shure MV88 Digital Stereo Condenser Microphone for iOS. It sounds way better than the built in mic on the iPad. That being said it is not great...I get lots of comments from people I trust, can't hear the backing tracks very good, the guitar could be louder, not much low end, etc.... My guess is if I could send my Bose Aux mix to the iPad it would be much better...I know USB A to Lightning adapters exist,...Read More...
Moondog wrote: "... My guess is if I could send my Bose Aux mix to the iPad it would be much better...I know USB A to Lightning adapters exist, but will this work sending Audio to the iPad?" Yes this works well. With an Apple "Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter" my T1 works perfectly as an audio interface / external mixer. Simply connect the lightning end to your iPad and use a standard USB A to B lead (printer style) between the adapter and your T1 or T4S. This does require the iOS program...Read More...

Using T1 Mixer w/iMac and OBS Livestream Settings?

Hello Everyone, I have my T1 connected to my iMac via the USB to PC connection. I can get the T1 to work with GarageBand but I just can’t connect to the OBS app? I have the midi sound set correctly for the Bose USB Audio input but I’m just not getting it to go through the OBS app? Is there anybody out there live-streaming with the setup that can share their settings? I have acoustic and vocals running to the Bose. Thank you.Read More...
Hi, thanks for reaching out. I just completed my first live stream and used my T8 mixer. It worked pretty well. I say pretty well only because the signal was a little weak. I was instructed to work within the OBS system since the signal it sends to Youtube is the same as you would hear in a playback from OBS. That makes sense to me. I am going to work with it later this week and post my findings. I solved my initial problem when I purchased an updated/new MacBook Pro. My old one was more...Read More...

Using L1 Compact + T1 for online teaching

VinsGirl
I'm working on solutions to vocal fatigue now that I'm in my 5th week of teaching private and group piano lessons online. So far, I'm resisting the idea of having to wear headphones or a headset all day long - the only headphones I have are wired, and I'm trying to be as "free" as possible while teaching because I do a lot of off-piano movement-based activities with my students when I'm teaching. I also just don't love having something on my head for hours every day. So today I started using...Read More...

QSC Touchmix to two L1 Compacts

Hi, Mike. Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. I'm sorry you've got a problem with channel 2 on one of your L1 Compacts. You can call Bose Support 1 to find out about service options. If the unit is less than two years old, it's probably under warranty. Out of warranty, there are flat-rate repair options that come with a one-year warranty on the repair. As Jeff K mentioned The channel 1 XLR input is designed for microphone level inputs. However, you can probably compensate for that by...Read More...

T4S says not connected to L1

How do I connect 2 S1 pro systems as monitors

Hello all. Just bought my first Bose L1 model 2 with B2 bass and T8s mixer. One question I have is what’s the best way (And best sound when playing out in bars) to hook up or connect 2 S1 Pros as monitors. I tried it last night on a practice run and the S1 pros had an almost “psychedelic” sound coming out of them which I don’t want. Shut them off and disconnected and the L1 sounded great by itself. The set up is 1 acoustic guitar, 1 mic, and 1 electric guitar. thank youRead More...
My partner and I use 2 Bose S1 Pros for our Farmers Market gigs (filling a 1/4 acre outside) with 2 voices, 2 electric or 1 electric/1 acoustic guitars. ST I just did the update for 7.1.5 the other day and had to go through the Bose Connect app vs a computer. Since it is wireless, it took a long time to download the update. But when done the actual update of the S1 went quickly. T4S shutting down after an hour

Just got my TS4 and second L1 to play in stereo. All was going along well for an hour or so and then the TS4 shut down while the blue light on the L1 base stayed on. Powered down, unplugged cables and plugged in again. Turned on and was ok for 5 minutes then it shot off again. Repeated steps and it seemed ok for a couple songs so I stopped to not press my luck. Hi Steve, We can't know how long your T4S was in the distribution chain before you got it. It's good that you've got things updated now. What are you doing with your extra time these days

Hi Everybody, Let's share some ideas about self-care and how we can be kind to ourselves and one another in these difficult times. This is off-topic for our community but we can do this productively if we focus on how we are filling the time left to us because of canceled gigs. For me, this has given me time to catch up on some writing, finish some songs, get reacquainted with my gear, and get in touch with distant connections. Next, I want to explore ways to collaborate with musicians...Read More...
