Here's a quick video to help you to set the input trim for a microphone on the T1®. This is called Gain Staging. The same principles apply for an instrument or line level input. Paul Schaefer's L1 Set Up

Today I had the privilege of visiting the David Letterman set and learning more about how Paul Schaefer is using the L1 Classic that you have seen beside him for years. The system is fed by a sub-mix of all of Paul’s keys and synths enabling him to hear himself clearly on stage. The band also has an in-ear monitor mix which enables them to talk among themselves and listen to songs as David Letterman is interviewing guests. There is also a printer attached to the laptop so they can print...Read More...

Ok so it has been over a year since the release of the L1® Compact system and we continue to hear stories about the product being used from everything from military services to fitness classes. How about this for a creative use. Some have been known to call it a hat stand so .... (I know it's not a Compact but it seemed a bit silly to create a new thread just for this and the Modell II just happened to be set up) .... Succeeding in the Performing Arts: Introduction

Ken-at-Bose
Hi Folks, For the past few years, we've had discussions amongst the moderators and others about the idea of collecting our experiences in the performing arts (mostly live music) into some short essays that might help to disseminate the knowledge. The time has come to begin this effort. Each "lesson learned" will be a new thread, whose title will begin with "SUCCEEDING IN THE PERFORMING ARTS" followed by a colon and few words about the topic. L1 Model I - Preset 3.0 Patch (DJ's only)

Attention DJ’s using the L1™ model I system, We recently identified an isolated issue that only affects DJ’s that are using Preset #58 (High Volume Pre Recorded Music) on the L1™ model I system. It was discovered that L1™ model I power stands with a serial number less than 042829Z72550001AC did not accurately contain the advertised preset #58. This preset is specifically intended for DJ’s playing pre recorded music at higher volume levels. Instead, it contained a flat EQ setting which is...Read More...

Monday Night Song Ideas

Tom Munch
Everybody join in on ideas for songs on Monday night. Ken posted a bunch of ideas to get us started on the wiki. If there is a song that you've always wanted to do, or maybe a song that you "own" & would like to do - bring it on. Don't be afraid to do something obscure or interesting. (Keep in mind that the rhythm section will have to back you up, so we need chords - & don't make it too difficult.) Easy songs would be any blues-based tune like "Kansas City". Harder songs would be...Read More...

NATIONAL DJ ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT REVIEW

I just wanted to report on my first weekend of using my new BOSE system. I use the word power in parenthesis because two different meanings for the same word were revealed to me this past weekend. On Friday Night I had an event at my local NFL Stadium out on the field. I have done this event for the previous 4 years so this was my 5th and first with the BOSE system. This is an example of some of the old "Gems" which are turning up since the introduction of the new forum software. The words are as true now as they were then. Here's an example. Hi Bob, For the stomp box Attenuate means to reduce, so we're carving away the sounds we don't want. I would start here: The Level is - 10.0 (minus ten). We're removing sound - turning down the tapiness. Freq is 150. The simulator I have won't do exactly 150 Hz (that's why it says 151). There's nothing exact about this. So you can move this value up and down. Width is 2.00 oct The simulator I have won't do exactly 2.00 oct (that's why it says 199). This means we're reducing the sound in the...Read More...

L1 1S thinking of purchase

Hello, I am a female vocalist who sings to backing tracks. I mainly sing in WMC and social clubs, but also care homes and hotels. I had a setup up of 2 Ev ZX4 speakers and a Dynacord Powermate 1000, but wanted to get something more lightweight. I went to a few music stores and more than once I have been told that the best thing for me would be the Bose L1 1S with B1 bass. I understand that Bose claim it is suitable for audiences up to 300, and I would never be performing for more than that -...Read More...
KatyJames posted: Hello all. Apologies for my delay in reply - I have been on holiday with no wifi (in this day and age?!) so haven't been able to read your advice until now. No problem here. It happens to all of us I very much appreciate everybody's input - I think the problem is that my dad always used to deal with my sound, but this time I am wanting to do it myself, so I am not familiar with a lot of the technical terminology. Again not a problem. If you can describe it we'll generally...Read More...

Thinking of using another mixer with my L1®

Thank you.I was thinking of trying out another mixer with my Bose L1 modelI. Do you know the best way to connect another mixer too it? Are their other mixers that use the T1 type cable that I can connect the same way.Or is that proprietary to Bose? If there are not any other mixers that connect the same way, what would you suggest other than running another mixer into a channel on the T1? I guess my question is can I use another mixer instead of the T1? I'm not very technical and I would...Read More...

Hi Kenneth, Thank you for joining the Community. Yes, you can run the L1® Compact with one extension. You will probably get better projection in to the room with both extensions, but you use one if you prefer. Bose Pro Community AdminRead More...

Waiting For Reset?

Matt Wahl
When I hook my T1 up to my MacBook and open the L1 Updater I get a message that says "Waiting for Reset...." My only option is a button that says Exit. When I click on that the L1 Updater Closes. I have tried turning my T1 off and back on and I have tried my T1 connected to the Power Stand and on its own. Same result every time. There is no indication that it is doing anything. Any advice? Thanks! MattRead More...
Hi Kevin, I understand this is frustrating and I'm sorry. Thanks for trying another machine. It's helpful you had an iMac. This eliminates the computer hardware and operating systems as the sources of the problem. In all the attempts to make things work, did you try a different USB cable? If you did, then it's beginning to look like there's a fault with the T1® and it's time to contact Bose Professional in Australia. L1 Compact clipping

Hi Folks I did a gig last night with my two L1 Compacts either side of the stage, I had them both set at 12 o'clock so they were at identical volumes and I had the Tonematch set at 12 o'clock and I adjust the channels independently, which is usually how I work. It was a 70th birthday and most of the audience were on the dance floor so I was driving the PA quite a bit. The Compacts handled the gig brilliantly, there were about 150 people in and I know it was thumping because I could see...Read More...
Thanks ST I haven't explored the T1 since I bought it four month ago, I just set it to it's basic settings because I was anxious to gig my new gear, but I shall now spend a bit of time getting to know all of it's functions. I will check the Comp/Gate as you suggested. I am gigging in a restaurant tomorrow so I will try it out with it switched to bypass. So far as using both compacts together I will knock the second one back till the LED is a steady green, I had no idea about the input/output...Read More...

T1 scenes

The Saint
I've had my L1 MII, T1 and B1 for around 4 years now and love it. I use it for electric and acoustic guitar, plus my vocals. I use an amp simulator for the electric guitar and when I need acoustic for the next gig, I've just gone into channel two (which I use for all my guitars) and changed the settings and EQ. I've now decided to save these settings using the scene facility. Yes, I know, it's taken a while for me to get wise on that...!! I have several acoustics, all with different style...Read More...
Following on from this, should I be using a preamp or DI box between the guitar and the T1? One guitar has an LR Baggs Lyric, one has an LR Baggs M1A and another has a Fishman piezo with an onboard Takemine preamp. If so, any recommendations...? ThanksRead More...

Bose Compact using both channels

Is it possible to use channel 1 for a condenser mic which will have an external phantom power source (mic is used to amplify hammer dulcimer) and then use channel 2 for a TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G XT which will have an acoustic electric guitar and Shure 58 mic? No mixer. And is TC Helicon powerful enough on its own? Trying to keep things simple and light weight. I have a Yamaha mg06x I could use if need be.Read More...

Protecting the L1 when used outdoors

I know there are a lot of creative people on the forum. I'm looking for ideas on how to protect the L1MII from too much exposure to the sun or even a little light rain when used outdoors. This is assuming that the L1MII can't be setup under the band canopy or pavilion. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you.Read More...

About the position of an L1 compact in an open stage

First of all, please forgive my poor English. Now, recently I bought one L1 Compact and one T1, - I'm very happy for this - and I use them in an open auditorium in Mexico City. When I read for the first time the generals of this equipment I was aware that the recommended use was indoors, and audiences for about one hundred persons. But surprisingly the L1's power and quality of sound was enough for almost three hundred persons on a stage that has no walls around, just the ceiling. The...Read More...
