Would like to use the T4S mixer as a separate mix through another main mixer, just for the vocals in monitors. The main mixer would be for the sound in front of house, and the T4S would be just the monitor mixer, Is this possible? Also, plugging in a mic in my main miser, how would that communicate with the T4S? Or wouldn't it. Thanks

Hi gerardsound,

How many monitor mixes are you running? (e.g., how many performers need to hear something different).

How many monitors do you have? What are they (make/model).

Please give us a link to the owners manual for the main mixer (need to understand how many monitor outputs it has).

Thanks,

ST

Hi ST, thanks for trying to help me. I have the Allen & Heath QU-16. I use 2 Bose S1pro as monitors now through the Allen and Heath QU-16. . Just like the Bose T4S mixer and would prefer that for the monitor mix vs from the Allen & Heath, if that makes sense.

Thanks for your time and input

Hi gerardsound,

You can put the T4S between A&H QU-16 and the S1 Pro systems,

  • Take the monitor outputs from the A&H QU-16 and connect those two two channels on the T4S.
    • Pan one hard right
    • Pan the other hard left
  • Take the T4S outputs and connect them to the S1 Pro systems.

but I don't understand why you would.

What problem are you trying to solve?

ST

The problem I'm having is when I use the Bose S1pro as a monitor through the Allen & Heath QU-16, it just doesn't have the nice preamps in it for the mics like the T4S has.

Plus, I like getting the effects through the monitors, and have a problem getting them from the QU-16.

Plain and simple, The Bose T4S has a better sound than the QU-16. I should have just purchased the T8S, but then again for now, I need 13 channels from the QU-16 for our band.

Thanks again for your input ST.

Hi, gerardsound,

If you connect all your sound sources to the QU-16

and connect the QU-16 monitor outputs to the T4S

and connect the T4S to the S1 Pro systems

If you are not happy with the preamps in the QU-16, adding the T4S between the QU-16 and the S1 Pro systems is NOT going to help.

You could do something like this.

  • Connect up to 4 microphones directly to the T4S channels 1 through 4
  • Connect everything else to the QU-16
  • Connect the main outputs of the QU-16 to T4S aux inputs 5/6
  • Connect the T4S main outputs to your powered loudspeakers
  • Connect the T4S aux outputs to the S1 Pro systems

 That's a complicated solution.

OR (four microphones through the monitors)

  • Connect up to four microphones directly to the T4S channels 1 through 4
  • Connect the T4S main outputs to the QU-16
  • Connect everything else to the QU-16
  • If you want to have only the four microphones to the S1 Pro systems, connect the T4S Aux Outputs to the S1 Pro systems (channel 1)
  • If you want everything coming out of the S1 Pro systems, connect the QU-16 monitor outputs S1 Pro systems (channel 2)
  • Connect the QU-16 main outputs to your powered loudspeakers

Another complicated complicated solution.

How do these ideas sound to you?

What kind of powered loudspeakers are you using? Do they have two input channels? Bose F1 Model 812 loudspeakers have two input channels.

Then you can do this.

  • Connect up to four microphones directly to the T4S channels 1 through 4
  • Connect the T4S main outputs to the powered loudspeakers (first input)
  • Connect everything else to the QU-16
  • If you want to have only the four microphones to the S1 Pro systems, connect the T4S Aux Outputs to the S1 Pro systems
  • Connect the QU-16 main outputs to your powered loudspeakers (second input)
