L1 Model II

Let's talk about the L1® Portable Line Array Systems

Using proprietary Bose® technology, L1 systems combine  PA and monitors into a single, highly portable unit. The  loudspeaker can be positioned behind or to the side —and you hear what the audience hears.

Highly portable PA and monitor combined for solo performers, DJs and general-purpose use. Fixed vertical control with 180° horizontal coverage Reduced vulnerability to feedback.

Three systems to choose from (Compact, Model 1S, Model II)
Two passive bass module options (B1 or B2)
Consistent coverage and tonal balance, portability and easy setup.

Using S1 as a monitor

Ok guys

Last night I was doing a fair sized venue with around 150 people in, it's a nice sized room with great acoustics and a nice big stage area, so I loaded the L1 Model 2 with B2 and had the S1 onboard which I planned to use as a monitor.

Not sure if I connected things properly but I was running the M2 from the Tonematch port on my T1, got the FoH sound then ran a balanced lead from the T1 main output to the S1 and that's when I encountered issues.

When I began to increase the volume of the S1 the FoH cut out. It was quite odd.

Any ideas what was happening?

I had the S1 set to flat and was running into channel one.

I've never used the S1 as a monitor so I'm not entirely sure how I'd connect it when using the M2.

If I were using my pair of Compacts it would be easy as I could run a link from one of those but the M2 doesn't give that option.

I tried running the S1 from the AUX but got no output.

I have a few largish venues coming up so would be grateful for any tips on how to use the S1 as a monitor alongside my Model 2.

Cheers

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

I'm sorry you had a problem using your S1 Pro as a monitor. It sounds like your connections were okay.

Good plan.

FOH - do you mean the L1 Model II or were you connected to another Front of House system?

If you mean the L1 Model II sound cut out, that shouldn't have happened.

Sounds good.

Here's an article with all the details.

T1 to S1 Pro as a Monitor

ST

Thanks ST

Yes the FoH was my M2.

Thank you for the info, I’ll give it a try.

As it happened I managed the gig without a monitor, I simply set the M2 back a bit so was using it for monitoring and main PA.

I encountered a bit of feedback when I started pushing it so probably to do with the trim.

Always grateful for any tips posted on this forum.

Geoff

With the info from ST using the S1 as a monitor should’ve worked fine. We have a Yamaha MGX12 mixer with our L1M2 and use the mixer’s Aux Out to go to the S1. That’s pretty much what you were doing with the T1 it seems. That approach worked great for us.

We actually didn’t use the S1 as a monitor but as an “extension speaker” to the L1. We periodically play in a venue that is L shaped and one of the Ls goes to the side and behind the stage (very awkward space). We used the S1 on a stand pointing in that awkward direction to cover sound for that area.

Just throwing out another usage idea for the S1 and the L1.
