L1 Model II

Let's talk about the L1® Portable Line Array Systems

Using proprietary Bose® technology, L1 systems combine  PA and monitors into a single, highly portable unit. The  loudspeaker can be positioned behind or to the side —and you hear what the audience hears.

Highly portable PA and monitor combined for solo performers, DJs and general-purpose use. Fixed vertical control with 180° horizontal coverage Reduced vulnerability to feedback.

Three systems to choose from (Compact, Model 1S, Model II)
Two passive bass module options (B1 or B2)
Consistent coverage and tonal balance, portability and easy setup.

Got a question for you Bose techs but I think I know the answer. Can the 24 speaker cylindrical arrays from the L1 model 2 be used in the L1 Model 1S power stand. Obviously the sticks will physically fit the stand but I bet the speaker impedance will not match the output of the amp causing eventual failure. Am I,correct? Thank you.

No, the Cylindrical Radiator®s are not interchangeable across models.

You won't get any sound if you put the Cylindrical Radiator® from an L1 Model II into the power stand for an L1 Model 1S.

Wrong. I have been unwittingly using the 24 speaker L1 model 2 speakers in a L1 model 1S base for a couple of years. They indeed produce sound however after the 1s quit producing output on the high freq. ( sub amp is still working) amp I am sure it is due to impedance mismatch.

I have both models: L1 Model 1S and L1 Model II here, and I double-checked before posting my reply above.  I just checked again.

Using the Cylindrical Radiator from an L1 Model II with the power stand from the L1 Model 1S produces no sound because Bose engineered the L1 Model 1S power stand to work only with the Cylindrical Radiator supplied with the L1 Model 1S.

Similarly, the Cylindrical Radiator supplied with the L1 Model 1S will not work with an L1 Model II power stand.

The pin-outs of the connectors in the power stands of the two models are different.  More notes: L1® Compatibility

Please try the Cylindrical Radiator® for the L1 Model 1S with the matching power stand.  Perhaps that will work for you now. If not, call Bose Support and they can tell you about service options.

That’s strange. I also have L1 model 2 and the L1model 1s. I do not have any of the speakers that only have 6 speakers. All four sticks have 12 speakers. Have been using these together at gigs for several years and never had a problem until last weekend when the amp on the S1 high end quit working. I bought the 1s system used. It came with the B2 sub and two sticks with 12 speakers in each. Wonder if the S1 base was modified.

The L1 Model 1S comes with two pieces for the 'tower'. The lower section has no drivers in it. The top section is has 12 drivers (like the L1 Model II).

Here's a Comparison of the Model 1S and Model II

Does your L1 Model 1S have a label on the bottom identifying it as an L1 Model 1S?

Does it look like this (left)

Note: There is no Bass Line Out on the L1 Model 1S.

Hi pixmixr,

That's an interesting dilemma. If you get the Model 1S power stand fixed, it won't work with the Cylindrical Radiator®s you have. You might be able to purchase another Model II Power Stand from Bose Support.

Hi  pixmixr,

If I understand what you've told us, you have two Cylindrical Radiator®s for the L1 Model II. You don't have the correct Cylindrical Radiator® for an L1 Model 1S.

If you repair the power stand for the L1 Model 1S, the Cylindrical Radiator®s you have will not be compatible with it.

That's why I suggested getting a power stand for an L1 Model II, if possible.
