Hi Guys

I've been using my old T1 for about two years now and have never updated the firmware.

To be honest I've never really needed to!

That said, a friend and fellow Bose user recently told me that I should be updating the firmware in order to keep the mixer's features current, in his words he says a day could come when the unit shuts down or doesn't power up because the firmware is out of date!

Obviously that has got me concerned so rather than turn up at a gig and find the T1 not powering up because of outdated firmware can someone explain what I need to do in order to update it and more importantly is it actually as necessary as I am told?

I also have a newer T4s so presumably the same would apply to that and would I also need to update the firmware on my S1 Pro?

Grateful for any assistance with this.

Hi Geoff,

It's not likely that you'll turn up at a gig and find any of your Bose gear will not power up because of outdated firmware.  That's not the way things work.

T4S

If you have a T4S, then you should update the firmware. There have been changes and improvements since they were shipped.

S1 Pro

There have been firmware updates. If you have been using the Bose Connect app, it's likely the firmware has been updated automatically.  But you can double-check.

T1

It's unlikely you'll need to update the T1, but you can check.

What version level is your T1 ToneMatch® Audio Engine? (T1® for short)

  1. Turn the Rotary Selector to Prefs


  2. Press the first button


  3. Turn the first button until you see Versions
  4. Press the button


  5. The versions for the firmware will be displayed. The versions shown below are sample values.

Right now the latest T1® firmware is 1.8.
