T1® firmware version 1.7 - Non Critical Update Available

Non Critical Update Available – T1® firmware version 1.7

As of July 1st 2008 T1® Audio Engines are now manufactured with DSP Firmware version 1.7. As a point of reference T1’s bearing a serial number of 042826z81830004AC or greater will include DSP Firmware version 1.7.

Although T1’s that contain Firmware 1.7 have already started shipping to customers, please be aware that there are still a large amount of T1’s with older firmware versions that will continue to ship.

Fixes
Updating to Firmware version 1.7 eliminates a popping noise that some T1’s produced when connected digitally to the L1® Model II Power Stand. The popping noise would only be audible when the T1’s power switch was turned on or off.

Note: If you are not currently experiencing this specific issue then there is no need to perform the update.

Just a note to all.

While Firmware version 1.7 is not critical, firmware version 1.6 is very important as it fixes some known issues.

So if you are not at version 1.6 then update to 1.7 (that includes 1.6). See links above.

If you are running 1.6 then 1.7 is not critical.

Well, folks, I have confirmed at least one additional difference between 1.7 and 1.6 -- the Delay function previously had a minimum of 10ms (which is consistent with the Simulator at the writing of this note) ... with version 1.7 that minimum delay now goes down to 1.5ms.

Which leads to ...

Are there any other such "improvements" / changes in v1.7?

While they may not be critical to "correct" operation (as the 1.6 update was), there may be some specific improvements which are important for some folks to know about. It might just eliminate a minor bit of frustration they have with 1.6.

I understand just "hitting the highlights" in the advertising, but it would be awfully nice if ALL the changes could be provided with each update. Such a list goes a long way to preserving/improving credibility and trust.
