Discussions about the Bose S1 Pro system

Bose S1 Pro

Designed for musicians, DJs and general PA use, the S1 Pro is the ultimate all-in-one PA, floor monitor and practice amplifier that's ready to be your go-anywhere Bluetooth music system for nearly any occasion.

This is the place to discuss the S1 Pro system.

S1 Pro system: Feature Requests and Suggestions

I love these speakers.  I purchased them primarily for DJ use, wedding ceremony, small parties, and outdoor functions and can use them around the house.

Now that wireless pairing is working, I can use my 12.9" iPad Pro with 512GB of music and cellular data connection.  I can DJ anywhere even when there is no power.

What I think is needed

1.  Auto Wireless Pairing, have the speaker remember the other one and auto pair when turned on.

2.  The ability to select the sound settings (table top mode, pole mode, monitor mode, etc).

3. The ability to control the overall EQ of the speaker

4. The ability to see battery life of each speaker

5.  Wireless pass through.  When no bluetooth signal is present, but S1's are paired, route input 1 and 2 of 1st S1 to the other speaker over bluetooth channel of 2nd S1.   I realize there is a delay but it still is useful.  If a DJ is playing music in one room from a mixing board, the other speaker in the next room will receive the audio.  My Harmon Kardon Go+Play does this and it has come in handy at gigs.

Mixing board  --> hard wired into into 1st S1 --> APTX --> BT channel on 2nd S1

It would be nice to be able, using the connect app, to customize the mic and guitar built in ToneMatch settings.

While the existing ones are fine, if you have a guitar with a different kind of pickup other than a UST piezo or a different vocal mic, sure would be nice to select some others and override the default settings.

This may get complicated as we’d have to have a way for the app to tell us what the current preset is, then have it display a list of alternative settings that could be loaded in.  To keep things simple, I’d go with just updating the two settings and have that available for both channels 1 and 2.

Perhaps, also have the ability to reset these ToneMatch settings back to the default.

Here's a list of what would help me as a live solo musician .

1. Master Volume

2. Line Out Volume

3. 3rd Channel w/ EQ + Reverb

4. S2 Pro with 8/10" Woofer and 4-6 Arrays  (I'd actually prefer an updated L1 Compact, battery powered with bluetooth, 3 channels and reverb.)

5. Bluetooth Pairing To 2 S1's . (this may be possible with the app?)

I've been using the S1 as a monitor for an acoustic solo act with line out to a PA speaker. This has eliminated the need for pedals or power at my feet on smaller gigs.  I'm excited to see what Bose comes up with next as I'm truly impressed with this speaker. Thanks for listening.

Yes, you can do that.

I would like to see a party mode/stereo mode app like they have for the

revolve + when connected to bluetooth. It would be a nice option to have a

bigger (than the Revolve+) Bose sound around camp fires , beach

parties, pool parties or just listening to a nice stereo mix in the living room.

This is now available. I used an S1 Pro and a Revolve+ in stereo mode last week.

Make S1 Pro capable of handling low end content as well as the L1 Compact.

Bass over excursion or port noise - Turn Down For What?

Further to this: implementing a DSP (signal limiter and a subsonic filter @ 62Hz) to prevent excessive bass signals from being reproduced would be good. User configurable would be even better!

Totally! As I see it this is the only thing that could be improved upon... Other than this small issue I am thrilled with my S1 Pros!

It would be great to control the EQ and volume for channels through bluetooth from my phone via a Bose android/apple app. A feature like that sets it miles apart compared to using one of my QSC K8's which most people look at within the same competitive price range. The application which I'm seeking to use my S1 for is small to medium size venues where I don't want to take out my mixer and other things then plug and play in seconds. That's exactly where a unit like this will shine if you can pull off something functional for people to control things remotely and being extremely portable.

Yes, a little three channel or graphic eq as well as master volume in the Bose connect app would be really great.

S1 Pro App feature request: Turn on/off Auto EQ

While normally I find the S1 Auto EQ feature to be acceptable for my gig situations, there are times I wish I could turn it off and be able to configure my unit at whatever angle I wish without affecting my EQ settings. Is there any chance that Bose could include a means to turn on/off the Auto EQ in the Bose Connect or a separate S1 Pro App?  Thanks!

Hi Archtop Eddy,

I see the Forum Administrator moved your post here. That's good as it means it will be seen by the right people.

I was thinking in addition to the new stereo mode, it would be great to link multiple (more than two) S1 Pros wirelessly for a true party mode, where all speakers are fed wirelessly by the same single feed. Imagine being able to spread around (within reason/range) multiple S1 Pros running on battery and be able to create a portable distributed audio system. In this mode, each speaker could probably produce mono instead of stereo, but would be great to have the option to set it to stereo and be able to choose which speaker plays left vs right.

Thanks for posting Version 7.0.10 June 2018, @ST. I missed that, as my day job has been hectic. Hopefully I can update it this Sunday. I video'd a coworker playing my new Idyllwild Foothill acoustic electric guitar through channel 1 of my Bose S1 Pro using the ToneMatch switch in the instrument position. Here's that one off, unrehearsed video:

I was discussing a friend of mine who was involved in a major power outage. The power had been out for 12+ hours and his cell phone was running on fumes and it was his only way to communicate both phone and internet. I know for a fact that a lot of people depend on him.

He is the proud owner of a S1pro that he keeps charged (cus that is just the way he is) and if this S1 pro was also a charger like some other Bluetooth speakers out there he would have had nothing to worry about.

I would like to see the new version of the S1 pro be able to charge a phone off of the battery if needed. I'm sure it would come in handy for many situations.

I have been using a S1 Pro for guitar, vocal and beatbuddy for small restaurant gigs of average 60-80 patrons. Occasionally I have a duo partner and a mix is needed for the extra inputs.

I've been thinking of getting a second S1 for extra coverage and inputs, however, I would still have to bring a mixer to have both guitars and microphones coming out from both units.

one feature that I'd really like to see added to the S1 is the ability to connect two S1s enabling inputs on both units be used at the same time. This would eliminate the need for a mixer and would be a big push for those like me who are thinking of getting a second S1.

Two additional feature suggestions:  Recessed knobs so they don't move around when putting the S1-Pro in and out of the backpack; and a insert hole on the back of the backpack so you can insert the power cord to charge up your S1-Pro without having to remove the S1-Pro from the backpack.

Hey all,

I would like:

1. Some processing for the port noise.

2. A battery powered tone match mixer. To connect some more inputs without needing to have power or change the s1’s simplicity on its own. Let it have Bluetooth too so you can play audio to 2 speakers in stereo (not possible with the link cable.

3. Maybe a little far fetched but I would love a s1 sub. I’m ok with it being a little larger but would love it being battery powered.

4. Combine 2 and 3 and make a dedicated s1 sub out on the mixer with a preset for the set.

I know you can stereo pair via the app but that doesn’t work on devices without an app. And the left right is not clear to me so I always have to play a test track to know witch one is left en right

This post was forked into a new topic here: Bose Connect to two S1 Pro in Stereo Mode - Left and Right?

Several folks have started using the Behringer 1200D subwoofer with the S1 to bolster its lower end. It got me to thinking that it would be nice for Bose to develop a similar type of optional subwoofer for the S1, but perhaps base (no pun intended) it on a B1 or 2.

Further, it would be nice to have this new B1/2 interchangeable with a L1 as many of us use both depending on the venue size.

I expect one of the challenges would be how to make this new subwoofer work off battery power to compliment that wonderful feature in the S1. Also, another challenge to keep its weight down.
