Discussions about the Bose S1 Pro system

Bose S1 Pro

Designed for musicians, DJs and general PA use, the S1 Pro is the ultimate all-in-one PA, floor monitor and practice amplifier that's ready to be your go-anywhere Bluetooth music system for nearly any occasion.

This is the place to discuss the S1 Pro system.

Merry Christmas to all ... I thought I'd drop a line in about how the S1 did last evening.

My Dad asked me to accompany him on a carol at his church's Carol Service which was held last evening.

I decided to try my S1 on a speaker stand. Wow! Very different sound (in a good way!) from the way I've been using it so far (on the ground, tilted back).

The church is - I'm guessing here - about 70' long and 40' wide. There must have been around 100 people there. I put the S1 on a stand close to the wall at the front of the church and we stood about 20' in front.

  • Beta 58a and SM58 - both connected to an ART promix and then to ch.1 on the S1
  • Guitar (12 string Takamine acoustic) to ADI21 (DI) to ch.2 on the S1.
  • S1 volume had to be set slightly below 12 o'clock because the sound was coming out loud and clear. At 12 o'clock it became too loud!

The sound carried beautifully to the back of the church - we could be heard clearly (there was an un-mic'd grand piano accompanying us). A musician friend of mine sitting at the back told me that we could be heard clearly.

We had done a rehearsal on the 23rd morning and I left the S1 standing in the church without plugging in power. Last evening (before going live) I checked the battery level and got four flashes - so all was good.

I did want to take a couple of photos to show the setting to our group, but, alas couldn't get around to taking any.

I really like the sound with the S1 on a stand. It seemed to pump out much  better than the usual tilt-back on the floor. And am very impressed with the S1 performance (gonna use the speaker stand more often now!).

Cheers and best wishes for 2019 to all. Peace.
