I have two S1 Pro speakers.  Same age, both pretty much new.  The latest one I purchased with only a few hours of use has a battery that slowly dies over the course of a week or two when not in use.  The other S1 Pro battery lasts as it should.  Any thoughts?

My experience is that both of my S1 Pro batteries die if not used for a couple of weeks. I spoke with customer service several times about this and they even sent me new batteries and replaced both of my S1 Pros (their engineers wanted to run tests on my units to see if they could figure out what was draining the batteries.) My newer units exhibit the same behavior so I'm not sure what the cause is. The customer service tech said they were wondering if S1 Pro BlueTooth was continually trying to connect so they suggested disconnecting my phone from the S1 Pro but I didn't get around to that before they replaced my original units. Unfortunately, no one followed up with me so I don't know if they discovered what the issue is. Frankly, this is not normal behavior for lithium ion batteries but I'm living with it and just keep charging mine to make sure they don't die. Thanks Michael for taking the time to share your experience.  Do you find the battery lasts for the expected time when using it after a full charge?

Yes, I find that I’ve been able to use my S1 Pro for three or four shows (I’m a magician) over a week without recharging. That’s about four hours. The only time I have issues with the batteries is when I don’t use it for more than a week or two.

That's good to hear.  I have been afraid to use mine for a performance without plugging it in first.  Thanks again.

I have the same issue where my S1 Battery depletes to a red indicator if not used for a week or so.  At first I thought that I had inadvertently flipped the power switch on when putting it in the bag, so I charged it and left it out of the bag.  The results were the same, a depleted battery with no actual usage.  I also positioned the power switch to the fast charge position and repeated my experiment to see if there was a difference. The results were the same, a depleted battery with no usage. Finally, I fully charged the battery, removed it from the unit and let it sit.  After a week, I reinstalled the battery in the S1. The S1 indicated that the reinstalled battery was fully charged.  This indicates that the battery is good and has no internal resistance that would cause such an issue. Therefore, the S1 has some sort of current drain while turned off, which is an unacceptable condition and presents a challenge as the S1 will not be fully charged when needed if being transported and away from an outlet for any length of time.  To me, the purpose of the S1 is to do just that for busking etc. and it is the reason I purchased it. I am respectfully requesting through this forum that Bose determine what the issue is and correct it.

Well, it appears that I too have been afflicted with the dreaded battery drain issue.  I bought my S1 about a month ago, charged it and it's been plugged in until a couple of weeks ago.  I've only used it a couple of times here in the house, testing set up, etc.

We went to visit family over the Christmas holiday and I took the S1 with me, but never got the chance to use it.  Today, after 2 weeks of being unplugged and turned off, I wanted to make test it to make sure the battery hadn't discharged.  Unfortunately, it is completely discharged and will not even turn on.  Bummer!  I'll call Bose Support today and see what they say.

I hope the figure this out soon.

Quick update.  I spoke with Bose Technical Support.  They are sending me a replacement unit.  The process was pretty easy and straight forward.  I got a shipping label and will return the  old unit once I receive the new one.

When the support rep asked if I had other questions, I asked if Bose had found out what the problem was and wanted to make sure I didn't get another defective unit.  She said that the issue was tracked down to a capacitor issue which has been resolved in the new units.

Hi Everybody,

We'll have more information about how to determine if you have one of the affected units by early next week.

If you have a problem now, (with the battery discharging when the system is off for several days) please call Bose Support.

Stay tuned, we'll have more information next week.

Thanks!

ST

I wonder when they figured it out because both of my current units are still draining the battery when not in use and one of the was replaced in early December. So far, I've had five of these units and they all have drained the batteries. (I bought two last spring. Bose replaced the first two when I noticed my issues. Then, in December, they replaced one of those when it started draining from 100% to dead in four days.)
