Recording with iRig 2 and T1

Hi

I am trying to record from the T1 through an IRig2 to my phone. I can get channels 1-3 individually to record from the preamp out (no effects, eq, etc), but what I want to do is record guitar and vocal, mixed through one of my Scenes. I get no output volume to the phone from either the master or auxiliary outputs. Is there a way to do what I am trying to do?

Thanks

Hi Lee,

Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community.

If you can get a signal out of the T1 Preamp Outputs, you should also hear a signal at the T1 Master Output. It takes a little more setup to use Aux though. I'll add some notes at the bottom of this post about that.

How are you connecting the iRig 2 to the T1?

I would do this

with a cable like this

The output from the iRig 2 should be heard at the Master Output unless you turn down channel 4/5 or mute it.

Use the Master Output as the source for your recording device.  NOTE: the output is balanced mono. If you feed that signal into a stereo input on your recording device, you may get very strange results.

What are you using for recording?

Thanks for your reply. I am using a OnePlus 3 Android smartphone.

I'm not understanding how the way you suggested would work for what I'm trying to do. I tried outputting the T1 through a TRS balanced 1/4” cable to the IRig2 input, and the IRig2 to the phone, not the other way around. I want to put guitar and vocal through the T1 with my created Scenes and record on the phone. I connected my headphones to the Irig2 where you noted on the photo to connect to channel 4/5.

Thanks

Hi Lee,

Thanks for the added information.  I'm not familiar with the iRig2 (I have the PC version of the iRig) or your phone, but I can point out a couple of things that may be causing you trouble.

When you do this, do you hear anything through the iRig2 headphone output?

There may be a problem using the Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable depending on the wiring inside the iRig2.  Try a 1/4" (6.3 mm) Tip-Sleeve cable.

Are you using the iRig2 as in interface only or are you trying to use Amplitube at the same time?

I think I need to use Amplitude or similar program, at least to edit out set up and end noises from moving around. No, I get no sound at all from the main output to the headphones, only from the preamp on an individual channel which records fine on the phone (just no effects and only one instrument or mic at a time). Tried the TR cable in lieu of the TRS and still no sound.

Thanks!

Have a great Thanksgiving, hopefully you'll have an epiphany after enough tryptophan and sugar to solve this issue!

Do you have the channels UnMuted?

Do you have the individual channel volumes turned up?

Do you have the Master Volume turned up?

Check the Prefs, Output Level.

Thanks!

Hi Lee,

Yes, yes & yes. Output works fine through the L1 compact.

This confirms there's a signal coming out of the T1 Master Output.

I can't think of a reason why you can record from the Preamp Outs but not the T1 Master Output. Are you using the same cables?

Hi Lee,

Here's a recap.

IF

  1. The T1 Master Output works fine as a signal source for the L1 Compact
    AND
  2. The Preamp Outs work okay for recording connected to the iRig2 instrument input
    THEN
  3. You should be able to take the cable that works from the Preamp Output to the iRig2 instrument input and move that over to the T1 Master Output (T1 Master Output to the iRig2 instrument input)
