L1 Model II

Let's talk about the L1® Portable Line Array Systems

Using proprietary Bose® technology, L1 systems combine  PA and monitors into a single, highly portable unit. The  loudspeaker can be positioned behind or to the side —and you hear what the audience hears.

Highly portable PA and monitor combined for solo performers, DJs and general-purpose use. Fixed vertical control with 180° horizontal coverage Reduced vulnerability to feedback.

Three systems to choose from (Compact, Model 1S, Model II)
Two passive bass module options (B1 or B2)
Consistent coverage and tonal balance, portability and easy setup.

Greetings.  I am a musician and have used the Bose L1 compact for gigs since around 2010.  Lately I have getting popping noises from the loudspeaker array as soon as I plug it in, whether the volume is turned on or not.  The sound level fluctuates of it's own free will and is sometimes audible to the audience.

I'm not sure if this is an internal malfunction or something that can be fixed by cleaning it with rubbing alcohol or whatnot.  Has anyone else had  this problem. and what was your solution?  Thanks.

Hi Wayne Walters,

Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community.

If you hear the popping noises

  • When you have nothing connected to the inputs
  • Regardless of the position of the volume and tone controls
    • and rotating all the controls up and down doesn't make a difference
  • And you hear this noise in different locations (different venues, different AC power sources)
    • If you are using a power bar - connect directly to the wall to eliminate that as a possible source

I'm sorry, but your L1 Compace will have to be serviced. Please call Bose Support.
