L1 Model 2 plus 2 x Powered Proel v12a for extra volume

Hi my daughter uses the L1 Model 2 with Tonematch for small gigs however a couple of venues have asked for more volume. On a large stage setting this is usually achievable without any feedback or damage to her hearing (when playing without ear protection). I have a pair of Proel V12a powered speakers that I have tried to use by sending a cable from the Tonematch AUX to the first Proel (left of stage) and linking the second Proel (right of stage) from the left Proel speaker. Although this did give extra volume she complained of very poor sound stage from where she was standing in front of the Bose L1 and slightly behind the Proels.

I would like to ask a) is this setup workable b) how is it best setup from the Bose L1 and c) what would be the best layout to stop the low end hum that so distracted her, incidentally front of stage sounded good as the hum could not not be heard at all.

Thanks in advance

I looked up the V12A - Proel (User Manual).  It sounds like your signal chain is okay.

Can you describe "very poor sound stage" in more detail?

Taking a wild shot at this, I'd guess that you have some unfavourable interaction between the low frequency drivers in the Proels and the L1 bass module.  You can alleviate that by moving them farther apart.

The low end hum is probably a ground loop. All the equipment should be connected to the same power source. Also, all the connections between the T1 and the Proels should be balanced.

T1 Aux out - should be 1/4" Tip-Ring-Sleeve to the first Proel. Then use a regular XLR microphone cable from the first Proel to the second.

Does that help?

Hi ST, thanks for the quick reply. We are using the B2 bass module and the Proels were from the same power source albeit through an extension cable.

The cables were as you say but I will try to alter the position of the Proels and take out some of the low end hum by altering the eq and report back our results on here.

Thanks IanB
