Highly portable PA and monitor combined for solo performers, DJs and general-purpose use. Fixed vertical control with 180° horizontal coverage Reduced vulnerability to feedback.

Three systems to choose from (Compact, Model 1S, Model II)
Two passive bass module options (B1 or B2)
Consistent coverage and tonal balance, portability and easy setup.

hello everyone

in my recent use of my L 2 I have noticed the the bass response has disimproved very noticeably

should say it’s for vocals and acoustic guitar using an octave pedal with my guitar for a bit of low end bass.

at first I thought maybe I was imagining it......done all the usual checks of leads etc

its at the same venue every week so it’s not different room acccoustics etc

there is some bass but not a lot, certainly not the way it had been all along.

the best I can describe it is it now sounds like 802s crossed over with 502 bass bin but without the bass bin connected of which I have previous experience.

The sound from L 2 is not like when the B1 is disconnected but maybe somewhere half way if you can understand what i mean.

my questions are, is the power amp section for B 1 a separate amp and is it possible it’s failing or failed?

i assume that the signal from the T1 via the tone match cable is the whole caboodle and is crossed over at the amplifier / amplifiers

anyone else with this experience or any help please.

Off subject.......is there any type of Bose trade in allowance for perhaps upgrading to the F 1 system.

love my L2s but maybe it’s time to try something new though I fear I might not be able for handling the F 1 as I’m a bit of a crock. But I could try I suppose.

thanks everyone

Hi Vincent,

I'm sorry you're having trouble with the bass response from your L1 Model II with B1.

Have you moved the bass module from its regular position in the room? Even a foot or two can make a difference.

Can you hear and feel the bass coming from the bass module?

Do you have anything connected to the L1 Model II Power Stand  BASS LINE OUT?  This will cause significant change in the bass output. If you don't have anything connected to the BASS LINE OUT, push a 1/4 plug into the jack a couple of times to exercise the connections inside. Then remove the plug.

There is a separate amp for the B1. If it had failed, the power light would probably be red instead of blue.

Yes, that's correct.

Bose doesn't do this but you may find an authorized dealer who would.

If possible, find a Bose dealer who can set them up side-by-side so you can hear the difference.

Thanks ST

I haven’t moved the position of the B1.....same stage position every time

cant really hear/ feel the bass anymore.....with my guitar set up I used to be able to produce a nice bass guitar tone similar to upright bass sound from the low E A and D strings.....it now sounds more like picked bass....not nice and certainly not what I was used to.

I have never plugged anything into the bass Line output....it’s never been used.....but i will try your trick with a jack plug to see if it makes a difference

is it possible that it’s simply a wire inside has become disconnected?

the unit is well and truly out of warranty......I am quiet comfortable taking it apart and having a look.....if you can point me towards where in particular I might look......

perhaps it might be no harm to open the topic up to the community to see if anyone else might have a comment so please do move the topic to the public area

thanks again

Hi Vincent,

It seems unlikely there is something wrong with the B1 or the powerstand. The separate bass subsystem either works, or it doesn't. There isn't a half-way state.

Please connect your guitar directly to the L1 Model II Power Stand  analog input. Turn it up. Do you hear and feel sound coming from the B1?

Play some prerecorded music through each of the T1 inputs, one at a time.

Use the

  • ToneMatch Preset Utility/Flat
  • with the zEQ

      bypassed

  • and ParaEQ

      bypassed

We're checking to see if there's a problem with the T1 channels and settings.

What do you hear?
