Next public show will be on July 5 in Aledo, Texas (about 15 minutes west of Fort Worth). The event is called "First Fridays in Aledo" google search for more information. 200 Old Annetta Road Aledo, Texas 76008 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. Fireworks after concert! FREE TO THE PUBLIC!!!

It will an outdoor setting on the asphalt or up on a trailer (don't know which just yet). Probably 200+ in attendance. I will be a simple 5 piece band (female lead singer, lead guitar with vocals, rhythm guitar with vocals, bass, and drums), two wedges on the stage as the lead singer and lead guitar use in ear monitors. I will be using my PreSonus StudioLive 16.4.2 and mixing the sound wirelessly with my iPad. I will also be using a DDrum trigger for the Kick drum mixing the acoustic sound with an electronic kick to add fullness in the outdoor setting.

Bobby,

Do you find having to lug around a Mac to use the iPad wirelessly tiresome at times? At least my understanding is that if you want to use the iPad wirelessly you need to have your Mac with you - so correct me if I'm wrong.

I know that you used a Mackie DL1608 for a while - what did/do you like more about the Presonus?

Thanks!

Tom
I use a Dell laptop with my system and setup a wireless connection with my wireless router. I simply lug the Ethernet cable to the laptop and that's it for the wireless connection. The MacBook Pro was great, but didn't have as strong of signal at times. Here in Texas on thing we deal with is the extreme temperature (heat above 100 degrees often in the summer) when you are outdoors Apple products like to shut down do to the temperature of the screen. So, the iPad or iPhone will go into thermal and shut down.
I loved using the Mackie DL1608, but it does have its issues. For instance, it does not have subgroups. I use my subgroups a lot with the Presonus. Secondly, the app (mixer) would quit and go back to the main screen. You would have to open it back up. It would not loose sound and seemed like it didn't anything, but was frustrating just the same. Plus, with the outdoor festivals coming up, there was no reason to even try it with the heat coming on. Setting up my laptop is part of my break music, so having the laptop out is no big issue. Plus, with the Presonus, I can record 16 individual tracks at one time and go back mix them down at a later time.
