Hi,  Can someone please help ?  I recently got a pair of L1 Model II Bass 2 with the T8S.  I try to connect to TV but it doesn't have sound.  This is what I did.  From TV, Optical wire into Converter input.  Converter Output is XLR to 1/4 into  T8S channel Mono LR.  I got XLR Main out from T8S, each to L1 Analog 1/4.  I don't know what I did wrong but I get no sound.  I even change the TV's speaker to PCM.   Can someone help me to connect the right way?

Thank you

Jake

Converter Output is XLR to 1/4 into  T8S channel Mono LR.

If the converter outputs are two XLR outputs, you should be able to connect each one to a channel on the T8S.  The cables could be either

  • XLR to XLR
  • XLR to 1/4 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve

But you will need two cables. Example:

One cable for the Left channel to the T8S channel 1.

One cable for the Right channel to the T8S channel 2.

If you are using a cable that converts two XLR outputs to a single 1/4 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable - that will probably not work.

I got XLR Main out from T8S, each to L1 Analog 1/4.

I don't know what I did wrong but I get no sound.

Do you have a microphone or instrument you can connect to the T8S? This would help us determine if the T8S and L1 systems are working correctly.

Please see this article about how to connect a T8S to two L1 Model II

I even change the TV's speaker to PCM.   Can someone help me to connect the right way?

Thank you

Jake

If the ideas above don't help please give us

  • A picture of the cable(s) you used to connect the analog convert to the T8S

Hello JakeSkete,

ST has given you some excellent advice (as always), but I noticed you mentioned that you connected "Converter Output is XLR to 1/4 into  T8S channel Mono LR."

The "Mono LR" 1/4" jacks are outputs, not inputs.  They provide the same signal as the XLR outputs.  (Also, the "Mono" is a misprint -- that's noted in the Wiki somewhere ...)  If you connect your converter output to the input channels as ST explained, you should get something going.

Does that help?

Hi JakeSkete,

Please see my comments below.

Hi all,  Thank you for your help.  Here is what I got. The Prozor is the converter optical to RCA.  RCA to 1/4.  I just want to have sound from TV to T8s and out to L1 Model 2 Bass 2.  Where or What I plug into what ?  Please navigate.  Thank you very much

On the digital to audio converter, there is a headphone jack. If you connect headphones, do you hear anything?

JakeSkete1

If you don't hear anything in the headphones, then check the Sound settings on the TV and make sure you have the optical output selected.

From what I can see from your pictures of the T4S, things look okay.

If you are getting sound in your headphones (as above) but nothing from the L1,  please give us a picture of the front of the T4S so we can see your settings AND

yes   there's sound at the optical output.  Do you think the RCA be plug into different channel than 1 and 2 ?   I saw youtube withe 9/10 is aux from PC.  Would that be the same concept from tv to 9/10 and something about setting PAN.  I don't what is PAN.  Im completely new to this and I got this set of bose as a gift.  What kind of setting I need to set the channel because I left it all factory setting other than turn on the trim and volume

Use channels 1 and 2. It's easier to access the settings.

Please give us a picture of the front of the T4S so we can see your settings.

Hi, JakeSkete.

Okay - we can see the signal is coming into the T8S.

Let's check the output levels.

  1. Turn the Rotary Selector to Prefs
  2. Select Output Level

Do you see any action on the output meters?

  • Main L
  • Main R

Please make sure your T8S is up to date.
