i am having a volume issue, i have my gains and masters and channels up full and its loud ish but thats in a room for about 80ppl i would love to have room to turn it up but it simply wont go any louder!!!! I have a radion sm58 mic in chanel 2 and i pad in chanel 4/5! The quality of output doesnt sound like a bose should sound. I used to get it really really loud but now ive come back to singing after a break it feels somethings wrong!!
Is the bass unit unplugged and/or turned down/off, @Kristy Batty?
My friend just brought his model 2 over the other day because he was getting no sound from his bass unit. Turns out his t1 was set on handheld mic for each channel. Once I put the channel on Dj/playback, it worked fine.
Could that be it?
Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. I'm glad you're here.
Is it possible that someone turned down the trim controls?
Please check out this article with videos.
You didn't mention what you have connected to the T1; an L1 Compact or L1 Model 1S or L1 Model II?
If you are connecting to an L1 Compact, you will get a stronger signal if you use a 1/4" (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable from the T1 Master Output ot L1 Compact Channel 2. And be sure to set the ToneMatch Switch to Line Level (the down position).
Does that help?
Hi ya sorry its a l1 model 2! All the gains are on really high and everything is maxed just think it should go much louder, im sure it used to... i have a wireless sm58 in channel 2 and i pad/phone in chanel 4/5
When you sing loudly or turn up the volume on the ipad, do the trim lights (about the knobs) turn red?
How are you connecting the T1 to the L1 Model II Power Stand. Are you using the ToneMatch connector (round barrel, square connector inside), or a 1/4" (6.3 mm) cable to the Analog Input?
Hi again Kristy,
Please check the settings for zEQ and ParaEQ and make sure they are all bypassed. If the levels are set to reduce the signal (e.g., -12 dB) this can significantly affect the volume.
A friend of mind told me his Bose L1 sounded terrible. He did not have any of the channel presets set up correctly. Once he got that straight it sounded great. I had a volume issue with my backing tracks on channel 4/5. I had the preset on DJ/Playback. It turned out to be a bad cable. You have to have a good quality Y cable (left/right 1/4 inch mono) to stereo mini jack. A couple of other times one of the 1/4 in. was not all the way in or the mini was not making good contact with the iPad. As they say, it's usually something simple and in my case it was.
Hi guys thanks for the replys, ok so ive already checked all the setting and they are all fine. The trim has been set to this level so it only turns yellow never red! The problem seems to me that everything is turned up too loud!!! You know then you turn something up so loud it distorts, well it sounds like that only the volume isnt really loud!! I have also just changed out my cables to be sure its not them.... i have decided to check the input signal strength ive just ordered a little headphone pre amp for my phone so i can turn that up and turn down the bose and then ive ordered a cloudlifter for my mic to boost the gain so hopefully i can the turn that down too in the hope that when the bose is turned down it wont distort so much but i will also get more volume! I dont know if that makes sence...
To add the t1 is connected to the base with the bose cable that came with it.
Let's do some diagnostics.
Do you have an ordinary wired microphone kicking around? If so, please connect that to T1 Channel 1.
Use close mic-technique (microphone within an inch of your lips) and sing as loudly as you can into it.
While doing that, set the input trim so you get solid green and flickers of yellow, not red.
Can you get the volume up louder than with the radio mic in T1 channel 2?
What's the trim position (2:00 o'clock, 3:00 o'clock?).
Hi again, Kristy,
Are you using a cable like this to connect the iPad/iPod to the T1 channel 4/5?
How high is the volume on the iPad/iPod (50%, 60%) have you tried it at 100%
