Discussions about the Bose S1 Pro system

Bose S1 Pro

Designed for musicians, DJs and general PA use, the S1 Pro is the ultimate all-in-one PA, floor monitor and practice amplifier that's ready to be your go-anywhere Bluetooth music system for nearly any occasion.

This is the place to discuss the S1 Pro system.

There's a new firmware release 7.0.11 for the S1 Pro system

It addresses this issue:

EDIT

S1 Pro Shutdown when you disconnect AC Power

Clarification:

Previously, some S1 Pro Systems would shut down if the AC power was interrupted. On those units firmware 7.0.11 changes the way an interruption to the AC power affects the S1 Pro:
When an interruption in AC power is detected, the S1 Pro will go silent for four to seven seconds. The audio will resume without intervention from you. During the silence, you may notice the channel one LED turn amber. This is normal.

It also contains minor updates for compatibility with the Bose Connect app version 8.1.1 (rolling out over the next week or so).

The fastest way to get the firmware update is from http://btu.bose.com with your PC or Mac computer.  For more details see: S1 Pro Firmware Update

You can also get the firmware update through the Bose Connect app.  If you are already using the Bose Connect app, it will detect that there's an update available and display a download icon on the screen. Tap the icon and follow the prompts on the screen.

To be more clear, downloading the firmware took an hour or more.  It probably then took a minute or so to actually do the update.

HI DavidE2

try to update your S1 with your MAC or PC that would be better while updating with phone's  it make take longer time and while downloading the data  it may get corrupt . use a good quality micro USB to normal USB. and try it

thanks

Hi Tim-MK,

I've amended the announcement at the top of this discussion.

Yes, if the AC power is interrupted, the sound will stop. You should be able to get things going again by turning the power button off/on again.

Hi Tim-MK,

Thanks for the additional info ST, still leaves a nagging doubt about whether to plug in the S1 into AC power for a performance if you don’t have a full charge in the battery?

I run on battery power when

  • There's no AC power available
  • There is AC power available but I didn't feel like running the power cord to the outlet
    • This happens all the time.  I just appreciate not having to connect one more wire

If I wanted to top up the battery while I was at a gig, then I would plug in the unit while I was playing. That hasn't happened yet.

The few times I've had a power outage at a gig, the show got interrupted anyway. Any issues with my personal piece of the sound system would not have been the most pressing issue in the moment.

I can't tell you not to worry about it, but it wouldn't stop me from connecting S1 Pro to AC power at a gig.

If I was playing at an outdoor gig and I was running completely on battery, if there was questionable AC power, I'd probably not connect to it.
