No signal from zero to one

Beau Ryan ·
Is it intended behavior for the Bose S1 Pro to output no signal until the volume knob gets to about 1-1.5? Just bought one and while streaming music over Bluetooth this is very apparent. Set the Bose volume knob for Channel 3 (BT) to zero and slowly turn up then around 1.5 the signal suddenly kicks in. Not smooth at all. Tested the same thing on Channel 1 with a mic and it seems to be less pronounced by still a noticeably abrupt transition from no signal to HELLO SOUND!

Firmware 7.0.11

There's a new firmware release 7.0.11 for the S1 Pro system It addresses this issue: EDIT S1 Pro Shutdown when you disconnect AC Power Clarification: Previously, some S1 Pro Systems would shut down if the AC power was interrupted. On those units firmware 7.0.11 changes the way an interruption to the AC power affects the S1 Pro: When an interruption in AC power is detected, the S1 Pro will go silent for four to seven seconds. The audio will resume without intervention from you. During the...

Battery drains in two-three days

ackerlyentertainment ·
I have had my S1 Pro for about 13 months and I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in the battery draining. I charged it up Friday night - used it for 90-minutes on Saturday morning. It sat in the shop until just now, Monday evening and the battery is dead. This same thing happened last Friday AM when I went to use it - had it charged up two days before. I read that BOSE recommends that we disconnect battery when not in use. This is a ridiculous option. We should not have to unscrew compartment to do this...

Kemper Profiling Amp and the L1 Model II, (or L1 Compact or S1 Pro)

ST ·
I was telling a buddy about my great experience playing a Mesa Boogie Lonestar 30 1x12 combo amp over the weekend. He's a drummer but he knows that amp and really likes it. The fellow who owns it saw how much I liked it and offered to sell it to me at a great price. Why? Because both he are the amp are 65 (amp in pounds, he in years) and although he loves the sound, he hates moving it around. A few years ago I might have snapped up that amp in a heartbeat. But as I told my buddy the drummer,...

S1 Orientation and Dispersion

Paul Rumbol ·
I have my S1 Pro arriving in a few days but I wanted to know a bit more about the orientation & dispersion even though I've read all the articles & manuals. I intend to use the S1 mounted on a trolley which already has the bottom surface at an angle very similar to the tilt back position. So this means placing the S1 flat makes it already tilted. Does this mean the EQ will change automatically to the tilt back curve even though it's not on the tilt back surface? I want the maximum...

What kind of guitar do you run through your S1 Pro system?

The S1 Pro system has been the perfect complement to this nice little jazz box 1 . I run this straight into channel 2 2 with the ToneMatch switch set to Guitar. Usually I leave the tone controls at 12:00 o'clock and the reverb off (personal preference). Simple is good. I've all kinds of compliments on the guitar tone with this easy setup. I run other guitars through the S1 Pro system, but I thought I'd share this one because it was a pleasant surprise. What kind of guitar are you playing...

Bluetooth transmitter solution - for T1 to S1 Pro

I can obviously do this with a cable, but seeing as the S1 Pro has bluetooth - can anyone recommend a simple solution that I can connect the master from my T1 tonematch to transmit the same signal to the S1 Pro - say at the other end of room for coverage? S1 Pro performance review v Roland BA-330

Ocheye ·
Having bought an L1 (Mark1) with 2 x B2 about a fortnight ago I was really impressed and so were the audience at my first gig with it. However, the venue was switched at the last minute to a much smaller room and the L1 was a bit too big (physically). Having read reports on the S1 Pro I travelled to my nearest stockists to see if the glowing reports were justified. I took my Roland BA - 330 to do an A/B test with the S1 Pro. I was astounded at the performance and it scored over the Roland in...

Using an S1 Pro with L1 Mark 1

I recently purchased an L1 mark 1 (used) and was so impressed with it that I also bought an S1 Pro. The S1 Pro is amazing but not up to the challenge of some of the venues I play. I have been considering a Tonematch and possibly upgrading to a L1 mark 2. In the meantime would it make sense to use my S1 Pro as a mixer/feeder for the L1, using the reverb and tonematch of the S1 Pro. If so, what would be the cable to use and how would I best set it up? I use backing tracks from a laptop, a...

Sounds like a nice, tidy configuration which is simple to setup and use, yet sounds great. When I do solo gigs, I put my Martin acoustic 0000-28H with a passive K&K pickup into a Fire-Eye preamp/DI which runs on battery then into channel 1 with the ToneMatch set to guitar. For vocals, I use a Shure SM58 Beta in Channel 2 with the mic setting. The EQ is typically set flat at 12 o’clock but sometimes i roll off the bass depending on how I the S1 sits (on a pole, tilted etc.) and the room...

Quick update. I spoke with Bose Technical Support. They are sending me a replacement unit. The process was pretty easy and straight forward. I got a shipping label and will return the old unit once I receive the new one. When the support rep asked if I had other questions, I asked if Bose had found out what the problem was and wanted to make sure I didn't get another defective unit. She said that the issue was tracked down to a capacitor issue which has been resolved in the new units.

I wonder when they figured it out because both of my current units are still draining the battery when not in use and one of the was replaced in early December. So far, I've had five of these units and they all have drained the batteries. (I bought two last spring. Bose replaced the first two when I noticed my issues. Then, in December, they replaced one of those when it started draining from 100% to dead in four days.)

In addition, my partner's 60s Fender Stratocaster sounds great run flat. And my U-Bass and 6 string fretless bass... We've run a lot of different guitars through the L1 already. I have a Martin D-35 and a 000-28, plus a Collings CJ and a Guild 12-string, all with Fishman pickups. My playing partner switches between a UBass and a Taylor cutaway of some kind. I think the only thing of mine I haven't liked the sound of is my Taylor nylon, and it's the guitar's fault, not the L1's. The Collings has a new Infinity pickup, and it sounds absolutely wonderful. For guitar players and street performers the battery is a useful feature but that is probably different for keyboardplayers and many bands who need electricity when performing. I wonder why Bose does not offer the S1 pro without the battery. I have bought one a year ago without the battery. My favourite is my Takamine 12-string acoustic which uses a CT4B II Preamp System. Sometimes I'll play my Godin A6 Ultra. To get the best from this guitar I need two connect both TS outputs so I'm trying out a Behringer 1002B mixer. Not having too much success with eliminating a hum on the line. Happiest with my Takamine and the S1 on a speaker stand (recently discovered much better sound with the S1 on a stand).
