Broken driver on Radiator!

Ian Eric ·
Playing a gig last night, and heard what sounded like your typical blown speaker in my L1M2; fuzzy, distorted, etc. Sounded that way from the first note of the night. Decided to open her up today, and the photo shows what I discovered. The magnet of this driver is literally half-broken off the frame! This is the upper-most speaker on the lower radiator. Anyone seen this before? My system is 16 months old, and while it gets used a lot (I average at least 4 gigs per week), I do take care not...

Let me say this: Bose rules. Customer service was amazing. All I wanted was a speaker...they insisted on replacing the entire Cylindrical Radiator stack instead. Even rush-shipped the unit so I wouldn't have any issues with my upcoming gigs (starting tonight!). Called Monday, package delivered today (Wednesday). Incredible, and a totally hassle-free experience. We all know these products are pricey, but this kind of customer support is truly an amazing value-added benefit that really makes...

Re: L1M2 setup for a visiting DJ

jaswrx ·
You got it, but I will say, being a DJ, and using the MII every week, one of them is never enough. I would also add that the T1 (DJ Presets) make a huge difference, in a positive way, and the bass is boosted a substantial amount.

L1M2 setup for a visiting DJ

Asaar123 ·
Hello all, after using my whole workday for browsing a million different sites and countless google searches I have to make sure I have understood everything. I got an event coming up, where DJ is coming to play using my L2m2 speaker/sub combo with his DJ board. After researching we have landed on the following setup: We connect his Numark NV2 board to L2 base with ONE female XLR - male TRS to analog input slot. We also set his signal to MONO from his Serato DJ software to avoid problems...

Re: My wishlist: An L1 model 2 with 10db more spl(super-L1m2!)

I am a 50-something pro with 30 years experience and play a lot of easy-listening volume stuff for over-40's..classic rock, blues, Jazz etc. I play electric and acoustic guitars, Keyboards and sing , often with backtracks. If there is a young crowd I'll also DJ the latest edm stuff. I found the Bose L1m2 to be unbeatable in restaurant and easy-listening but for situations that often turn into a party it is nowhere near loud enough for me. Today's live/party crowd need to feel the music as...

My wishlist: An L1 model 2 with 10db more spl(super-L1m2!)

guyfeld ·
As a pro solo musician I have owned an L1m2 and dearly wished that it could go twice as loud. (Even if I could afford another it would still only give an increased 3db)Would it not be possible to manufacture one with 16x 4" full range articulated drivers @30w each(480w)with the same 180 degree horizontal dispersion and a 500w rms 12" still-portable sub, so that the system achieves 125db+ continuous,(vs 115db cont) and 131db+ peak?

I totally agree, at party levels, I can find the L1 limit very easily, and when you reach the maximum of the L1, it really starts to break up, and sound wonky. I have since added F1 sub, and has helped a lot. Another one would do wonders as well.

Proper DJ Setup with T1 vs T4 or T8

DJ Cory Barron ·
Greetings all, This is my first post on the forum. I have number of the Bose professional products, but i'm not sure i'm running them correctly. Typically if i'm using the F1 812 set up I will take the controller straight in. If i'm using the L1MIIB2 its through the T1 as described below. As a DJ I run my controller (Pioneer DDJSX2) main XLR L & R outputs to the T1 in Ch. 1 & Ch. 2 One the T1, I run the master Vol. at 50%, Ch. 1 & Ch. 2 Trim at all the way down & Vol. at 50%...

Hi DJ Cory, Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. I'm glad you're here. The connections for the T4S will be the same as you are doing now with the T1® with the added wrinkle - because the T4S is stereo, and you're using a single L1® Model II, you will pan all the channels hard RIGHT. Things with the T8S are be slighly different. In addition to panning everything RIGHT, you will connect the T8S RIGHT output to the L1® Model II Analog input on the Model II Power Stand. Use a...

Re: T1 to L1M2 via ethernet - Can I use the Master Output to a Powered Speaker?

ScubaBadger ·
Hi Zamakli I think you are mixing up the "T1" meaning. Yes - you are right there is a "T1" (Tier 1) communications protocol in internet connection terms and that is as you say normally connected through fibre these days. In terms of the "T1" mentioned in these pages we are referring to the model "T1" ToneMatch mixer - which incidentally can use an ethernet comms capability to talk to the L1 Powerstand. Cheers Dave

David, Seems to be some confusion in resposes to your post. Your question is very clear to me because I use the exact setup that you are questioning. You can run you L1 M2 exactly as intended with the Bose “CAT5” then come out of your T1 Tonematch master output with a 1/4 TRS cable to the input on your powered (active) speaker. I do this with my L1 M2 adding 1 or 2 Bose F1 812.

T1 to L1M2 via ethernet - Can I use the Master Output to a Powered Speaker?

DavidE2 ·
I'm playing a big room on Saturday and am not confident the L1M2 will be enough. I want to hook up a separate powered speaker but have the T1 output to that speaker use the channel volume knobs so the aux isn't the solution. Can I send the normal T1 master output to a powered speaker while sending the signal to the L1M2 via the cat5 (or whatever it is) cable? Thanks!

Not sure what you’re talking about. This is the Bose Forum and the T1 is a Bose mixer.

L1M2 repair Adelaide Australia

Hi Everone. I’ve been trying for over a week now to speak to Bose in Australia. Every time I call I get to an offshore call centre who promise to get back but never do. I’ve been referred to a local authorised repairer who have been very polite but can not answer my questions. I am reaching out here for advice My L1M2 B2 T1 has failed with the following symptoms. Noisy Pop Redlight on power stand Shut down. Removed T1 tried direct to Analogue input. With trim at Zero volume was high then...

We're using a Behringer XR18 to mix the band, sending L and R to the L1's. Haven't experimented with panning yet. On the to do list. The ETL Myrtle microphone has worked well with the L1's. We do need to be careful with the input gain. Will also be working with some feedback EQ just in case. In this setup you can also see a couple of instrument amps being used primarily as monitors. They are setup to DI to the XR18. Definitely a bit of overkill for this venue.

Can I ask how you are plugged in to the L1’s? I think I see a QSC mixer in the back. Are you running all channels to both or are you splitting and sending some instruments to left one and some to the right? Thanks! Also, how does the ear trumpet labs mic work out being in front of the L1 units? Feedback not an issue? -Dylan

So you are sending the main outs to both the L1 units? Just like you would with regular mains where all instruments go through both speakers...Bose always suggested sending sources to only one unit, so I’m curious how this sounded for you or if you experienced any sound/frequency cancellation. Thanks for the reply!

To be honest we've just started using this set up with 2 L1's. Only a few gigs in. Have not experienced phasing issues yet. Using the L/R outputs will allow me to quickly route signals to either L1 base (rather than both).

ST.....found this from a yr ago during my research..... you note (above) with the T4s (stereo mixer) into one L1 (mono), pan everything hard Right..... you got me thinking: 1) would that be the same for stereo tracks playing back through ch 5&6? pan them hard Right? or is there no panning on ch 5&6? 2) excuse my "tech ignorance" please... if no panning or EQ with ch 5&6, is it possible to send stereo tracks split to ch 3&4, for instance, and then have panning and EQ...
