Using presonus USB audio box with F1

Charlie 3 ·
Hi, this is my first post on this forum. I am a singer who has used the Bose Tonematch with my L1 and now F1 system. I am now doing gigs where I need to use guitar effects and I wanted to use my MacBook for amp modeling, running my guitar through a Presonus audio box to the Tonematch. Problem is the sound once in my Tonematch is not as clear as when I use headphone straight out of the audio box. This is not good because the guitar presets in Tonematch do not suit my needs. Has anyone used...

Hi Charlie, Yes, I was suggesting that you bypass the Presonus if it's sole function was to serve as the audio interface. The T1® can serve as the audio interface too. I got the impression that all the audio processing was happening in the MacBook. You wrote, "The presonus is my way of getting the desired guitar tone via main-stage." What is "main-stage". ST

Re: Using presonus USB audio box with F1

I will give that a try. My only concern here is that it will cut my Presonus audio box out of the equation. The presonus is my way of getting the desired guitar tone via main-stage. I did create a work around by running the presonus into 1 of the 2 inputs on my F1 unless there is a better way. Thanks

Mainstage ($29.99) is an Apple program for the MacBook that is used for live performance. Not a slouch program... used by the pros... dirty little secret It is essentially a virtual mixing board. I can run dry guitar/vocals/backing tracks currently on my Mac through mainstage and achieve modeled tones out to my Bose system that may not be included with the T1. Obviously I am still in the process of learning the best way to get this to my Bose system. I think I may just run it direct to the...

Re: Using presonus USB audio box with F1

Hi Charlie, That sounds like Mainstage is doing everything inside the MacBook and not dependent on the Presonus. If that's so, then there's a good chance that you can use the T1® instead of the Presonus. Either way, it doesn't seem necessary to use both the Presonus and the T1® for your guitar. But if you are also running vocals, then you may prefer the T1® for it's microphone presets and effects. I have a Presonus interface that I use for other things, and I prefer the T1® for processing...

iPad Pro to T1® via Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter

I've got my hands on an iPad Pro 9.7 running IOS 10.2 for a little while for testing. I went out and got the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter and I can confirm that it works fine with the T1® for playback. Note: You lose volume control on the iPad. You have to control the volume on the T1®. You will probably want to route the USB from PC setting to Channel 4/5 so you can control the volume. See USB port on the T1® for details on how to do that. I tried it with Garageband and thought I heard...

Re: T4S / T8S and USB Audio Questions

Hi Moon Dog, Thanks for the great questions. The answers will apply equally to the T8S too. On the T1® USB from PC is routed directly to the Master output. That's the default, but you can also redirect USB from PC to Channel 4/5 if you want some hands-on control using the Channel 4 Volume Control. If you leave USB from PC routed to the Master Output, it does not take up any resources and all four T1® Channels remain free. On the T4S you can route USB B from PC to Main, AUX, or Channels 3 or...

T4S / T8S and USB Audio Questions

So upon further review lets talk more about the T4S. The USB audio input can be used for songs between sets. On my current T1 I have to use a channel so this is great because it frees up a channel. So the question for ST here is, will the mixer play the songs on the stick automatically one after the other for example during breaks? I read where you can pick the songs you want to play which is great for specific events that want specific music, but for us giggers, I just need music to play...

So again, I would have to leave the unit in the mode you have it (precisely at the 2:00 mark of your video) to monitor & control two separate volumes of Aux 9/10 during a live performance. That looks about as simple as you could make live balancing of input tracks possible with the T8S instead of having one lone volume knob while performing. I'm not particular on the USB/analog input to the T8S. The laptop is already throwing USB signal to the light controller. I'm not sure if the laptop...

T4S and DAW

Interreg ·
Hi there, T4S have amazing features but there is not so much information about this mixer as USB interface. So my question is about USB interface config: is there just "simple" 2x2 USB interface or more? I have actually interface with possibilitiy to record 4 chanels simultaneously and this is minimum what I need for daily work. That would be great when I can use T4S for this purposes with all these great effects. Greetings, Ivica

Hi Ivica, Doesn't your DAW allow you to mix down to two channels? Or do you mean 4 out (from ToneMatch mixer) ST

I`m asking about recording and not about playback. Like I describe in first post; I want to record 4 channels simultaneously, each channel on separate track in DAW. For me is allready clear that this is not working with this version and I think only Bose can answer if USB interface can be extended to 4 in and 2 out in the future.

T4S USB, ASIO support speed and latency

JFreyberger ·
Dear Sirs, at the moment I'm using the T1 and now I just read about the T4S and its stereo capability which I highly appreciate and I'm thinking about switching to T4S. But there's another important point: has there also been any change on the USB implementation in terms of using it as a low latency USB audio interface for VST instruments? I.e. is there a native ASIO driver (not just ASIO4ALL)? What range of latency is possible presupposed the PC is powerful enough? And one more thing apart...

Hi ST, thanks very much for your fast answer. I'm going to use an Intel® NUC-Kit NUC6i7KYK which has an optical SPDIF and I think there are some Notebooks out there where their SPDIF is not explicitly mentioned on the website. I will do some more latency checks with my T1 and compare it to ASIO USB interfaces like Steinberg UR44 or RME Babyface. And I've one more question: when I'd use the T4S in a Mono situation, I've read the advice to pan all the inputs hard i.e. to right, which makes...

Hi Johannes, Thank you for your interesting questions. The implementation is the same as for the T1® as we discussed here. T1 as ASIO Interface for playback of VST instruments The T4S uses the drivers in the operating system (Windows / OSX). The T4S was engineered to support portable PA applications. I did some hunting around and couldn't find any current model laptops with an optical SPDIF output. Are you having a problem with latency with your T1®? ST

T1 with a digital mixer

Hi Rob, Since I don't use a Bose mixer I can't help you with anything related to that but I CAN answer questions 3 & 4. I have been using my L1 MIIs with several digital mixers (Presonus, Behringer, and Midas) and prefer the flexibility that they offer for my particular needs. As far as question 3 goes, what would be the purpose of routing an external mixer through the T1? I have always believed that the less things in the signal chain, the better. Using the other mixer would allow you...

3. As Rob has stated above adding another mixer in the chain is not a good idea unless you require more channels than either one provides on it's own in which case it's time to buy a bigger mixer.

Hard to predict without knowing what mixer you've got. Try it both ways. Please tell us what you hear. Then try running the balanced analog outputs from your mixer to the two L1 Model II - Analog Inputs. That will give you a shorter signal path and free up on of the inputs on your T1®. ST

Hi Claudio_Baracchino, That's great! Only the Reverb has changed, and the ParaEQ now has three bands instead of one. You can read more about the reverb in this article. T4S Reverb Try changes like this. If you are used to reverb type Medium, try Large. And adjust time setting (probably increase it) based on the values in the article. The files play continuously.

Grazie

T4S USB out

I was testing the T4S USB connection to Mac and set the output to route the T4S channel 1 (mic channel) to both Right and Left outputs on the USB in place of leaving it as Master. The vocal recording using a Nuemann KMS105 appeared to fade in an out. I wondered if I was experiencing phasing cancellation issues by routing in this way. Has anyone else tried or noticed this?
