Tonematch AUX volume boost?!

Jocelyn Oldham ·
I've been having issues getting enough volume from the AUX out on my BOSE ToneMatch (with L1 model 2). Also, I read that you can't hear reverb in the AUX send? Confused then why there is this AUX option: "Pre: With EQ & FX: The signal is routed from the preamp stage with applied processing." ...if the FX can't be sent. Note: No reverb comes from the Aux output even if the tap point is Pre or Post. What other effect IS there on the tonematch? What am I missing? But my main issue is that...

Re: Tonematch AUX volume boost?!

NickA-at-Bose ·
Hi Jocelyn, Based on your description, I think the best course would be to turn the trim up on the channel, and then turn the channel volume down to balance out the volume increase. It's best to have the trim knob up as high as possible before distortion (as indicated by the red LED above the trim knob). So the trim knob for each channel should be set to this point - this may mean 12 o'clock for channel 1, 9 o'clock for channel 2, and fully clockwise for channel 3. All outcomes are fine as...

Hi ScubaBadger, I noticed your post in the T4S/T8S Feature Requests discussion. You can do this now. The Aux inputs 5/6 on the T4S and 9/10 on the T8S are routed directly to the Master Outputs. Turn the Rotary Selector to PAN/AUX. Note: You can ignore the reference to Ch 1. Turn the left most knob (Menu) to Aux In 5/6 To have treat the Aux In Channels as Left and Right, pan them hard Left and Right. To have them summed, pan them to the center. Does that meet your requirement? ST

So again, I would have to leave the unit in the mode you have it (precisely at the 2:00 mark of your video) to monitor & control two separate volumes of Aux 9/10 during a live performance. That looks about as simple as you could make live balancing of input tracks possible with the T8S instead of having one lone volume knob while performing. I'm not particular on the USB/analog input to the T8S. The laptop is already throwing USB signal to the light controller. I'm not sure if the laptop...

T1 Tonematch out to powered floor monitor AND house main

Hello to all. Long time lurker, I've learned so much on this forum already with great appreciation. I've hit a snag and was hoping I could get some advice. Currently playing a duo acoustic/singer combo (2 mics, 2 acoustics) into a Tonematch T1 through an L1 Model 2. Thank you so much for the fast response. Later in the evening after I posted I did find that section you linked to regarding no Aux out reverb. My concern is twofold: 1- I’d be unable to hear the mix in the bar and wouldn’t be able to fine tune individual T1 channel levels. I could via the monitor mix on stage...It would just be dry with no effects (perhaps the price to pay) 2- the Aux running into the bar would be dry and I would guess ‘sterile’ or lacking any of the ambiance that reverb...

Hi Alastair, This is certainly not normal. Though, I would recommend testing this with effects other than reverb, just to be 100% sure of what you're experiencing. The one limitation to the AUX output is that it will not output any applied reverb. If you're truly not hearing any effect from AUX when set to post, there is certainly an issue. If this is the case, please contact us by phone at 877-335-2673. Thanks, Chris

Aux out for only 1 channel

To amplify my choir, i'm placing my LI/Mod II in front of the choir. Using a condenser choir mic to reinforce the singing. the accomp track (pre-recorded) only to come through two powered monitor speakers. How do I connect the monitors so I'm no playing back what the mic is picking up? I'm not asking how what type of connectors... I have all kinds of adapters. Just need to know how to route the accomp track either via computer or in channel 4/5 to these monitors.

Re: Aux out for only 1 channel

Yamahaha 3 ·
What type of mixer are you using? If it has an Aux/Monitor send you can route the accompanying track to that and then out to your monitor speakers. As to your other question about the condenser mic not picking up the track, well, you're not going to be able to avoid that but you can minimize the effect by keeping the volume on the monitor speakers to a minimum and playing with their placement (ie behind the mic position if possible.) Hope that answers your question!

It's hard to tell if I'm understanding your question and I don't know why you would want those monitors when you have an L1 II, but it sounds like you are running a backing track somehow directly into two very small powered monitors and will mic the choir into the Bose with 1 mic and you want to balance them. Why not run the condenser mic and backing track both into the Tone Match and line out from the Master Out in the Bose to the monitors?

These posts show how challenging it is to be clear with just words, haha. I want the LI in front of the choir & Audix choir mic (small condenser) as it would feedback if speakers were behind us. The small powered monitor speakers would be streaming on the accomp track. That make sense?

No FX coming from Aux out.

PaulWestMusic ·
Trying to troubleshoot why I'm not getting any FX while using the aux out on my newer T1 Tone Match mixer. I have changed the TAP setting on each channel to all the options (before pre, pre and post) and I get no FX. I'm running behringer headphone preamp to in ear monitors. My connection is 1/4" TRS to xlr into the headphone amp and then my ears. Any ideas why I'm just getting a dry signal with no FX?

To do this (bold), set the Tap point to Post After Fader . I would start at Level 50% and adjust from there regardless of whether...

Hi ST Thank you very much for your response to my questions about the AUX outputs of the Bose T8s, I’ve taken it all on board, and will implement; much appreciated. In fact, there was no great urgency to the issue because the band (a Frankie Valli and Four Seasons tribute) is at ‘start-up’ and is actively looking for summer bookings! With respect to your prompt about the firmware update, yes, I carried it out on receipt of the T8s and then reset to factory settings. Thank you once again.

Thanks ST. I will get into the update soon. I'll keep you posted. I do wonder if I will run into any difficulty by having apps Bose Connect and JBL Connect on my phone. I sometimes operate JBL Xtremes from my phone. For that, they recommend the phone to be at 70%.

Hi Dance Host, We recommend that you set the volume on the Bluetooth source device at about 70-80% (or a notch down from full). This seems to work well for most people. You can't change the sensitivity to the the Bluetooth signal on the S1 Pro system, however you can change the volume that you hear using the Bose Connect App. The volume control on the Bose Connect app displays the volume as a percentage of the volume on the physical control on the S1 Pro system. This means - if you set your...

Bluetooth on Aux input sensitivity

Dance Host ·
Please put this in the correct slot. The Bluetooth on the S1 Pro is too sensitive. It reacts optimally when the phone is set at about 20% volume. Industry standard for phones is around 70% for the phone setting. The 70% works with other Bluetooth systems. This really can get you in trouble in switching from system to system. Is there an adjustment for the S1 Pro to be less sensitive and uniform with other systems when using Bluetooth?

Re: Bluetooth on Aux input sensitivity

I went through the procedure and think all is a go. Now I can turn my volume to 70% via Bose Connect or the volume control on my phone. I can adjust up or down either way. Now with the source (phone) volume at 70%, I can still only turn the S1 volume up two notches - the way the knob is, 10 o'clock is off and 12 o'clock gives full volume with the phone at 70%. Granted before this happened with the phone at 20%. Now 3 o'clock is where the S1 volume control notches, yet the knob will still...

Hi Dance Host, Thanks for the update. There are so many places where you can add or remove gain, it's not easy to establish what is normal or expected. In these situations, we raise and lower the volume with the most convenient control (on the Bluetooth device, in an app, the physical control on the S1 Pro). This is one of those situations where it's easier to use our ears instead of our eyes. ST

I figured the app and update would give me a change, like the S1 in the middle in its slot, around 2 o'clock, with the phone at 70%. Are you saying you don't have perceived positions for the units? Actually, the app doesn't seem too stable. cutting in and out some. I use the S1 for karaoke and the app does not show the lyrics or song information other than title. Hi Dance Host, I'm sorry, I don't understand your question. Do you have an app for Karaoke that shows the song lyrics? If so, then you can use the Bose Connect app to set up the connection (party mode - dual mono or stereo) and set the volume. Then use the Karaoke app for the other functionality. Does the Karaoke app have a volume control? I don't have a Karaoke app, but once I have set up the connection to two S1 Pro systems, I can use other applications (e.g. Netflix or YouTube videos)...
