Re: How Do I use the T1® ToneMatch Presets, zEQ, and ParaEQ?

Seagullman ·
This may be one of the most important video tutorials that you publish ST. It really shows hands on how to set up the EQ of a particular instrument starting with a preset, then zEQ and then ParaEQ. This should help many to understand what they're doing when setting up an instrument/microphone. Especially good was showing that you can bypass each of the frequency ranges (low/mid/high) separately. The only thing I'm really missing here is maybe showing the effect of the ParaEQ on an acoustic...

Hi Tony, I thought about this, but I don't have a guitar around here with a problem frequency. That's why I did the ParaEQ section with my croaky voice-with-a-cold.

Hi ST, I sometimes find the odd problem frequency depending on the room and how I have to place my system and play through it. I hope your voice recovers quickly. Tony

How Do I use the T1® ToneMatch Presets, zEQ, and ParaEQ?

ST ·
Here is a video to show you how to set the T1® ToneMatch Presets, zEQ, and ParaEQ. You may not hear the differences in sound that I'm discussing in the recording, but follow along on your T1® and you'll be able to hear them in your environment. Overview Notes: The way the Presets, zEQ and ParaEQ work together ... Set the Preset first. Adjust with zEQ if necessary. If you still want to modify the EQ to solve problems or do things that you couldn't with zEQ, then use the ParaEQ. Longer...

How Do I Load ToneMatch® Presets into the T1®?

In addition to the ToneMatch® Presets that are installed when you get your T1® you can download and install ToneMatch® Partner Presets. I will add relevant links below this video. Tips Download all Bose related files into a folder Extract all the files you intend to use and place them into one folder before running the Bose L1® Updater program. In the video, I created the folder and called it Bose . Run the Bose L1® Updater application from within that folder. After you have installed...

L1 Model I - Preset 3.0 Patch (DJ's only)

Neil-at-Bose ·
Attention DJ’s using the L1™ model I system, We recently identified an isolated issue that only affects DJ’s that are using Preset #58 (High Volume Pre Recorded Music) on the L1™ model I system. It was discovered that L1™ model I power stands with a serial number less than 042829Z72550001AC did not accurately contain the advertised preset #58. This preset is specifically intended for DJ’s playing pre recorded music at higher volume levels. Instead, it contained a flat EQ setting which is...

Hi Heinz, Erstmal "Frohes Neues."

Heinz

Impulse Responses on the T1?

Has the R/D department looked into Impulse Responses to achieve speaker emulation through the T1 as part of the library of presets? Peter Thorn on Impulse Responses

Re: Impulse Responses on the T1?

ST ·
Hi Dave, Thanks for posting the Peter Thorn video. That was really interesting. The ToneMatch® presets are about making a sound source sound as good as possible through the L1® equipment. They are not about making something sound like something else. For more on that, please see ToneMatch® You and I can use impulse responses with our gear (Line 6 Helix and Kemper Profiler). I think that level of processing will likely remain in the realm of content creation, outside of what Bose does in the...

L1 ToneMatch Audio Preset Updates Not Appearing

Bob Midden ·
When I use the L1 Updater for Mac to install the Audix microphone presets update, the new presets do not appear in my ToneMatch Audio Engine presets list. The updater reports that the update was installed properly and resets the Audio Engine. I have tried turning the L1 base unit and the ToneMatch units off and back on multiple times. The new presets still don't appear. What am I doing wrong?

Re: L1 ToneMatch Audio Preset Updates Not Appearing

Bob Midden ·
OK, I feel a bit dumb. I found the presets added separately at the end of the list of all of the presets. But why were the Audix presets that I added not just added to the other Audix presets that were already listed with the other Handheld Mics and instead, the whole set of Audix mic presets were duplicated at the end of the list? This seems redundant. It would seem to be more efficient to add the additional Audix mic presets that are available in the update to the existing Audix mic...

Re: L1 ToneMatch Audio Preset Updates Not Appearing

Nick-at-Bose ·
Hi Bob, Sorry for the confusion about it. Because the extra presets are treated as a separate "bank", they are stored separately from the rest. (There are preset banks A, B, and C in addition to the "factory presets")

Re: L1 ToneMatch Audio Preset Updates Not Appearing

Bob Midden ·
Thanks for this explanation. Is there any way to modify or add to the factory presets using downloads from the Bose website? If not it appears that it would only be possible to have 3 sets extra presets available at any given time if they can only be loaded into those three banks. For most situations that's probably all that's needed, but just wondering if there are any other possibilities.

T1 settings

Bob 6 ·
Hi Can anyone suggest which T1 settings to use for vocals, acoustic guitar and stomp box/porch board please? I have 2x L1 compacts and a model 2 with B2. 90% of the gigs I do are with 1x L1c and tonematch. L1c on a chair with one extension. I sit on a chair to sing and play acoustic guitar while tapping a homemade "electric floor tile" with my foot. Shure Sm86, Gibson j200 and j45, piezo on a floor tile. I doubt you will need to do anything with the ParaEQ. Guitars For the Guitars, it sounds like your going to be happiest with one of these.

Thanks for reply. The stuff on the videos is familiar, I can do all that ok. The tip about bypassing the presets is something I hadn't used before and is a useful feature. I've preferred everything flat so far but using the bypass feature I can more easily compare. I was asking about reverb and delay settings for vocals. The stomp I made myself and it works well with any amp or pa with treble and mid cut and bass boosted. It does sound more like a click than a thump when eq is flat. I...

Hi Bob, For the stomp box Attenuate means to reduce, so we're carving away the sounds we don't want. I would start here: The Level is - 10.0 (minus ten). We're removing sound - turning down the tapiness. Freq is 150. The simulator I have won't do exactly 150 Hz (that's why it says 151). There's nothing exact about this. So you can move this value up and down. Width is 2.00 oct The simulator I have won't do exactly 2.00 oct (that's why it says 199). This means we're reducing the sound in the...

Hi ok, first I apologise for not knowing the meaning of the word "attenuate". I thought it meant to adjust precisely but it apparently means to reduce. I have spent some time trying different settings at home and got a sound that's ok but I find that what sounds good in one room does not sound good in another. Thank you for trying to help. I need to spend a lot more time on it before I can think of anything more to ask. One thing that makes me question everything I thought I'd learned about...

Hi Bob, Good to see you again. If you're up for an experiment, take your L1® Model II, T1®, B2 and a long microphone cable, a microphone, guitar, stompbox into a gig sized room. On your vocal microphone channel use the FX Mute button to turn off the effects. Sing and set the L1® at least as loud as you perform. Take a walk around in the room as you sing. Listen for the natural reverb. If you have a way to record the sound (even a phone will do), record as you play and sing with and without...
