Can I use a mixer with this system?

I have a mackie mixer and I am wondering if I could use it, I have a drum machine and a two man band.Read More...
Absolutely. The system has 4 input channels, but you can also mix signals and send them to the system. What is the setup you're working with ... maybe I can help with the setup. SteveRead More...

Mics without switches

On smaller stages, in vary cramped quarters, I have run into a small feedback issue when one of the band moves from in front of his mic… I mean we are right on the PAS. It occurred to me that if we had switches on our mics, which we don’t, it would solve this problem… I mean when the mic is not in use or we are on break. I know the SM58S has a switch but I have the regular SM58’s with no switch and AKG D880’s that also lack a switch. I looked all over the place for a XLR in-line connector...Read More...

Singers moving thru audience with headsets

I work with singers who perform musical stuff, and they move thru the audience a lot. Often there is no stage really, i.e. the singers are where the audience is throughout the performance (we are often performing at restaurants). Is there any recommendation of how to use the PAS in this particular case? In such a configuration, It would not make much sense to speak of directivity because the latter constantly changes. BTW, there is an electric piano to be amplified thru the system as well.Read More...
Just a bump... I know that this question isn't a top priority. But I would like to be able to respond intelligently on this point when it comes up, and of course I don't want to refer ppl to the spec sheets fot the MA12. -ARead More...

Performing with a CD/Tape track

What about performing with a CD or Tape track? Can the accompanying background be patched into the system?? Only live performances have been mentioned as far as I can tell.... ThanksRead More...
Hello Waderx, Thanks for writing us. The system performs beautifully for high fidelity playback of prerecorded music. In fact, it is designed to be an accurate, natural, room-filling reproducer of whatever music is sent to one or more of its four inputs. In addition to being the very best high fidelity amplifier we know how to make, the radiation characteristics of the Cylindrical Radiator(tm) speaker are different and unique: namely, the sound is very wide -- almost 180 degrees -- but the...Read More...

can you use this system for the lead vocalist and a traditional p. a. for the remainder of the band?Read More...
Hi. I wrote the letter about our band and my DJ set up and how much we like the system. I wrote about some initial feedback problems we experienced. Do you have any recommendations on microphones that might be more resistant to feedback? I use an EV mike that is close to 10 years old but it seems to feed back more than the bass players mic which is the same model. Do mikes wear out? My mike seems to be the culprit with most of our feedback problems. I have talked to the Bose customer service...Read More...

First Live performance

I have the 802's and have been very happy with the sound. I played with a trio and had keyboard bass and synth drums going through the PAS and was thrilled. I sing most of the songs and had no trouble hearing over the band. We were very loud! The mic does not feedback unless directly in front of the speaker. I am sold! This will be graet for my solo gigs and with the band. KMRead More...
I have ben busy and just checking back now. We purchased another PAS and an additional bass unit. The sound is great with the four of us playing through them. We played and indoor baseball stadium and used them in conjuntion with the 802's and kicked out some great sound.Read More...

Monitoring Vocals

I'm use to hearing my vocals very clearly in front of me. Although I can hear it's not quite as effective in the high range. I am 46 and have been playing more than 20 years so my ears may be a little weak but I'd like to hear myself a little better. I noticed when I turn my head slightly so one ear is turned to the speaker behind me it makes alot of difference. How can I get a better monitor without turning my head the whole night. My chiropractor wants to know! Can I put the...Read More...
Sorry for our delayed responses to all your questions, but the holidays keeps slowing us down a bit. Things should get more responsive next week. You can certainly set it more to the side if the stage permits that. Some of that might also help with your feedback problems. Please feel free to experiment with the positioning of the L1. We can certainly give recommendations that are based on the results of our experiments, but every musician and every venue is different. Any postioning scheme...Read More...

Feedback? The bad stuff

Has anyone experienced any problems with feed back? I havent read anything about it anywhere on the site or forum. As any other engineer would tell you, its the scourge of live audio. I havent thought of any way that it would be immune to it, but if there is a way, I'd love to know. On another quick note...Are the systems equiped with phantom power? Thanks for your time! jeffRead More...
We have done nothing in particular to address exaggerated the plosive sound other than to make sure that we have a very even frequency response and a very even directional pattern. That seems seems to help with a lot of "common" issues including plosives and feedback. Stay tuned for a more comprehensive feedback answer in the FAQ section.Read More...

what equipment in addition to PAS is needed?

captacoustic
I'm considering giving this new system a try. I usually play solo acoustic guitar, banjo and bouzouki and sing. Can you suggest what outboard equipment will be useful to this approach? Currently, I'm using a Mackie mixer/amp with the Bose 802 speakers. The Mackie has built in effects which, I understand, the Pas does not. If I wanted effects such as reverb than do I need to purchase an outboard unit? For that matter, why does Bose choose to not include effects with the PAS?Read More...
When we were doing intensive musical-performance testing of the final prototype system about eighteen months ago, built-in reverb was still on the table. In the tests, with a very wide variety of ensembles and venues, the players always ended up taking the reverb out. So it lost its appeal as a feature. Amado's explanation is right on the money in that the reason for using it has apparently disappeared. That said, if after using the system you still think it should be used, by all means give...Read More...

Preset for Sennheiser e835

First Time Out

Last night I assisted a friend with his first time out on a gig using one (1) Cylindrical Radiator model L1 for two vocal mics. Even though I'm not a vocalist I was asked to help because I've been playing through The Personalized Amplification System for over a year (see woodwinds) and have some experience with it. First off I had to overrule my friends desire to put the L1 off to the side. He was afraid it would feedback if it was right behind the vocal mics. I positoned the unit center...Read More...

System Configuration

I am planning a music night at a local restaurant in Houston in February 2004. We have a babygrand piano using a mic, a keyboard, a guitar w/ pickup, and four vocal mics. I also have a small (6-input) mixer. Is a deluxe Personalized Amplifier System (w/ 2 bass modules) sufficient to play for an audience of 200 guests ? It's a 2000sf restaurant.Read More...
