Tell us what instrument and microphones you use

In order to make sure we are delivering new ToneMatch presets that meet your needs we would love to gain additional insight into what instruments and microphones you currently use or plan to use with the L1(tm) system and T1 ToneMatch(tm) audio engine. I'm setting up this discussion as a way to capture this information. Please reply and let us know. I look forward to hearing from you. CraigRead More...
I use Martin D-15M and Martin GPCPA4 guitars, also Ovation 1111 Balladeer and Celebrity CS257 guitars, all frequently played through a TC Helicon PlayAcoustic into a Bose S1 PA or a Roland AC-60 amp. Shure SM58 mics. Currently, I'm playing directly from the T1 into the PA or amp while I'm experimenting with the Tonematch settings.Read More...

How to connect a T8S to 2 LEM passive Speaker so that one speaker can be used as a monitor and the other as a front of house speaker?

Ok here goes... I am using an L1 Model 1s with a B1 and a T8S Mixer for my 5 piece band. I want to move the L1 slightly in front of us (stage right) so we can push the volume. However we may not hear ourselves as well so would like to use a LEM passive speaker as a monitor. The LEM has a speakon input. What cable do I use to connect the T8S to the LEM and how do I set it up as a monitor on the T8s? We also have another LEM passive speaker. How do I connect that to the T8s and use it as a...Read More...
I suggest using a powered mixer between the LEM's and your ToneMatch. This way you will have not only volume control over each monitor speaker, you'll also have tonal control too. A straight forward ordinary power amp could do it but there'd be little finesse in that especially when the band is in confined spaces in my opinion.Read More...

T1 Lower Kick Gate Threshold?

Hello Everyone! So a friend of mine has lent me his T1 Model II, and I'm actually digging it. We are using it as the sole amplification system for vocals in my extremely small jam space, and the compact size is amazing compared to my old 2X15 powered cab setup. Anyhow! Just last jam the bass player said he has trouble hearing the kick. I understand why as I use an 18X8 since there is no room to setup a proper size. I had the briliant idea to hook up my Beta 52A to the L1 just to boost up the...Read More...
Reporting in! So I switched out my 18" cannon kick for my 16" tom-kick. It was sounding fine on it's own but during practice I quickly realized that the kick sound was lost in the mix. I spent about 30 mins messing with presets, B2 levels , difference mics, and nothing helped. It seems that there is some sort of hard limiter with the B2 bass module. With very soft taps on the kick, the bass is quite loud and punchy, but once I bring it up to performance levels, the overall bass level seems...Read More...

Video camera Feed

Is it possible to give direct feed to a video camera from T8S?Read More...
You need a camera that accepts external audio inputs. Low end cameras usually have an 1/8" TRS stereo input designed for a microphone - this may be an issue as microphones output a much lower "level" (order of magnitude lower) than the T8S and could easily distort when given line level inputs. Higher priced cameras have XLR inputs and can usually handle line level signals. You need the right physical cable/connectors to take a signal from the T8S outputs (L and R) and deliver them to the...Read More...

T1 Reverb

I have been using BOSE on stage since 1974 and I'm a firm believer that BOSE has the best sound equipment, even at home or in the car. I've been using the T1 for 3 years now on stage and all's well, except this ****** Reverb. Unless I'm missing something, the longest decay is about 1/2 second. The sound is mediocre and the shaping abilities very limited. I've worked in many recording studios and am very partial to great reverbs. From Lexicon to Eventide and others. I'm using an external...Read More...
It's a shame that a top notch audio company like BOSE doesn't provide an excellent reverb/delay module. After all, they exist. Example: my Strymon Blue Sky. A prime studio reverb in comparison to the T1 Reverb.Read More...

L1 Model II with new T8S

I've been one of those who wants more channels and it will be here soon in the T8S. I've read most of the post's for the 8 and was wondering is the fact there are more channels on the 8 the only new "stuff"? For example, how about more presets, i.e., I am an Korg PA4X Arranger player. One of the presets on the T1 was DJ, also no presets for the Heil microphones. Just wondering if any thought was given to more presets during the creation of the T8S? Edit title: Previously "L1 Model 11 with...Read More...

Tonematch Channel Three Problems Remain Unresolved

I refer to the thread 'T1 Tonematch Problems' which culminated in highlighting a recurrent problem with Channel 3 for a number of users. A quote from the thread is as follows: Craig" Well there was little or no customer service (except from the local rep Andy UK) who tried to source me a loaner. There is clearly a reliability issue with the the T1 in that channel three has caused exactly the same problems on a number of T1's. Maybe the customer service is up to snuff in the U.S. but what...Read More...

Correct Setup for DJs on the T8s

DJ Cory Barron
Greetings Bose Community! I just purchased the the T8s mixer but i'm a little confused on the proper setup for my gear. RCA to L+R 1/4" inputs from mixer (main mix) 1/8" to L+R 1/4" inputs from laptop for Spotify (filler/backup) XLR to XLR from Shure Wireless Mic XLR to XLR from Shure Wired Mic Also want to have a record out available for videographers or to record my mixes while i'm using the main XLRs Using (2) F1s or (2) L1M2B2 Any advice is greatly appreciated!Read More...
Hi Cory, Congratulations! Please make sure you are running the latest firmware. See: T8S Firmware Updates Please tell us more about this connection. Do you have another mixer with RCA outputs? Stereo out or not?

Hi Got to work on a cruise ship this Friday and a colleague gave me a heads up. Can’t take own pa, have to go through channel three on their pioneer mixer (twin rca phono in). So planning on taking T4S and a power adapter - so no power stand. I intend to run from the two outlets above channel four in. These I believe to be stereo if the master out is panned left and right - under normal circumstances with two ethercon out to L1’s - so I’m guessing it’s still stereo even without a Powerstand...Read More...
All good thanks, basically the trs outs are an emulation of the ethercon outs.... Thanks so much, gave me a couple of other hints there. It is likely the in ceiling speakers are on a 100V line system headed by a mono amp fed by the Pioneer mixer - channel three being the two rca phono - so I may well just select a single summed output, but I will try the panned stereo first and see what it sounds like first. Will report as requested!! thanks DaveRead More...

T4S Compression

Speedy
Hi, The T4s compression module only has Threshold and Gain settings, where is attack, release, and ratio? And is the gain setting here "make up gain"? Or is it something else? Can someone in the know, please give me a run down on the compression is set up and works on the T4s please? For guitar, if I set the comp to -16db on both my T4s and my Play Acoustic then compare both independently at that setting and with no comp. I can hear the difference with the Play Acoustic but not with the T4s.Read More...

T1 Mono Signal on Headphones (only left speaker playing sound)

Hi guys, I own the old T1 model and receive only a signal on the left side of my headphones with following setup (see picture attached): Guitar goes into tuner, then into distorsion pedal and then into channel 3 of T1. Main out then goes with a TS(!) cable into looper. From looper I have a TRS adapter to a 3,5mm TRS headphone cable. The signal is only played on the left speaker of the headphone. Would using a TRS 6,3mm to 6,3mm adapter (see picture attached) into the looper fix it because in...Read More...

Chasing perfect tone

Speedy
Hi, I have returned to post the result of my quest for perfect tone. I am playing a new Taylor T5 Custom through a TC Helicon Play Acoustic, into the T4s, then on to an L1-1s + B2. For vocals a Sennheiser e945 through the same path as the guitar. I have spent countless hours trying to dial in the perfect tone using the Play Acoustic, only ending in frustration. So I tried running the guitar flat through the Play Acoustic and using the T5 preset in the T4s. This was better but still not...Read More...

Vocal channel clipping

Hi Gang I played a very lively gig last night using my L1 Model 2 and B2 with my new T4s. It's a reasonably sized venue, not massive but quite open, I imagine about 160 at capacity and it was near that last night. I know the sound from the stage was reaching every corner because I could see people leaning into each other to talk at the back of the room! The T4s was set up as follows: Channel 1 - vocal - Trim was at 2 o'clock, channel volume at 12 o'clock. Channel 2 - guitar - Trim at 1...Read More...
The position of the knob is irrelevant (example: 12 o'clock). Important is, that at the loudest point of your singing, the Gain indicator is set to just before it flickers Red. That's the correct setting. The actual Volume you set with the channel volume knob and the master volume.Read More...

T4 Pre-sets

Speedy
Hi, I am just wondering if the various pre-sets in the T4s include compression and reverb? If so should the compression settings show when select the compression settings? Or will they just show as flat? So, if we add compression, is that on top of whatever compression is included in the pre-set? Same for reverb?Read More...
