system sounds as if it is compressed

Hi, Just purchased a new L1 model II with double bass bins and T1 last week and have used in for a few gigs since. I have a one man show using backing tracks with live lead guitar and vocals. I seem to find that my mic sounds very compressed (squeezed) through the system as if the system was protecting itself, even though the L1 isnt really that loud. For example , done a party last night in a small venue with about 30/40 guests and really had trouble filling the place with sound, Master at...Read More...
I always get the dreaded compression... so I went out and bought a used Classic to set up on other side of my staging (or sometimes 8 feet or so apart facing slightly outward, with 2xB1 and a B2 massed together between them ... problem solved. The CLASSIC RULES !Read More...

National Resolectric Guitar through L1 Model II with B1

I am 1/2 of an acoustic duo. We use the Bose system for two vocal lines and 2 instruments line. Our Martin Acoustic guitars w/ built in preamp work great with the system. Plenty of volume and overall great sound. We also use a Uke thru a Radial pz-pre acoustic preamp to give the Uke a boost into the ToneMatch. This too delivers the amplified results we want. The problem is with my National Resolectric Guitar. This National guitar has a P90 pickup and active electronics. (2 - 9v batteries).Read More...

Two L1 Compacts - Hum

I too have a T1 and two L1 compacts with the same "hum" issue. For the life of me I cannot figure it out. I seen one suggestion on her to hook all the power connections up on the same power strip, but that didn't help. I even have a 1500 watt APC power conditioner in the loop which doesn't help either. I also have a desktop computer in the loop that runs through my tv via an HDMI cable. I also have a 12" Klipsch sub that runs off L1#2 via RCA. I use all balanced cables on everything. The...Read More...

L1 Model 1 paired with JBL Eon for monitor?

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to using my L1 + bass modeul (got as an very nice Xmas gift) I was thinking about using my old JBL Eon speaker as a monitor when playing big rooms. Is this possible? How would I go about that? I also am using a Tonematch T4S (ps. I LOVE the sound I'm getting!) I am a solo acoustic musician so i'm only plugging in my Washburn and Shure Beta Mic. Thanks in advance!Read More...

Streaming in T4S via USB-A

Reading about the USB -A connector it seems to be a player of some sort for plugging in memory sticks with audio tracks on it that are not in folders. i have not tried it yet but I’m hoping the USB-A will allow me to stream from an iPad as this could be a digital feed from the thunderbolt to the usb using a standard iPad / iPhone charge / data cable. Anyone know if this is feasible or if it could be a future firmware update? Alternatively, could the other USB port be used? cheers DaveRead More...

Audio over CAT5/6/7

Has anyone ever tried Audio over CAT5/6/7 for long speaker runs? DMX version https://www.amazon.com/Elite-Core-VRL-Adapter-Female-VRLDMXRJ45-3P-SET/dp/B01MRYZSFN/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1548879307&sr=8-5&keywords=XLR+to+cat+5 I know this is for DMX. WirelessDJ, These are only intended for Line Level audio at a max. It's actually not uncommon to use CAT5e/6/7 for DMX and analog audio (both mic and line level) as Category cable is rated at 110 ohms, which is the same as DMX and digital audio mic lines (which is great for analog audio as well). Just make sure you use shielded CAT cable that is designed for portable use (i.e. not installation grade cable as it will break more easily over time). You CANNOT use them for speaker level audio,...Read More...

Hi, Live musicians. Are you using MP3 files for backing tracks? With the T4S and T8S ToneMatch mixers you can play audio tracks from a USB A source. Behringer X18 Air Rack

I have 2 L1 S towers for my 5pc semi-acoustic group. The 8TS mixer is great, but if I need to ever add anything on top of the 5 vocals, acoustic guitar and keyboard (which seems to happen often), I have to add an additional mixer. I also want to have a sound man mix remotely via tablet, and add the bass guitar and electric guitar into the main mix. I am looking to see if anyone has experience using a Behringer x18 Air Rack in place of the ToneMaster mixer, and if there are any tricks to be...Read More...
I use the Midas MR18 (basically the same as the Behringer XR18 but with better quality preamps and connectors). The sound quality is superb as are the effects, eq, dynamics, routing etc. I use a laptop for backing tracks which is connected direct to the mixer via USB and a 12" iPad to wirelessly control the MR18 (this is backed up by a wired connection to the laptop for emergencies which I have never had to use). Another advantage of this system is that you can have multiple devices to...Read More...

S1 pro

I recently traded a used pro in and got a brand new one in box. I have had it for a week now. I find it to have about 50% volumn out of the Mic input as the old one. Why could this be? The output from the Bluetooth is ok.Read More...
Hi Ray, Please look at this picture and notice the volume setting for channel 1. It's normal to have the channel volume up this high or higher, for a microphone. Please try this: Connect your microphone to channel one. Set the Bass and Treble controls to 12:00 o'clock (if they are below that, you will get less volume). Sing loudly - directly into the microphone with your lips less than one inch from the windscreen. Turn up the volume until you see the channel one signal light turns red or...Read More...

No worries, @ScubaBadger Dave. Besides performing, I also do live sound engineering. Many vocalists bring their own microphones and effects, which sometimes can be an issue, vice a solution. I've seen solo acts where performers over use harmonizers and delay, to the point one can no longer hear the words being sung. Others use just a tasteful amount and sound nice.Read More...

t 1 and L1 compact

Is input 4 & 5 independent of each other or parallel inputs? I ask because of a buzz I am trouble shooting for a band I was in after the fact. The following would not be my choice of setup. 1,2 &3 shure sm58 and sm57, Yamaha MG102c balance input channel 4 and acoustic guitar onboard preamp unbalance in channel 5. I'm wondering if the shield on unbalance and the ring on the balanced is causing problem with the signal. Compact L1 sections of the tower is hard to seperate. Thanks BillRead More...
Hi Bill, Yes. Two balanced inputs that are immediately summed to mono before any processing is done. Can you connect the guitar to the Yamaha MG102C instead? That's hard to diagnose. That's not a common issue. Are the parts that joined together scratched or dirty. I'd clean them off, and see if that helps. If it doesn't call Bose Support to see if they have any suggestions. L1 Model 1 advice/help

Hi All, I'm looking for a bit of advice/help with my Bose l1 model 1 First is, I have a Bose l1 Model 1 which I use for performing (solo singer/songwriter) but I haven't had a gig for a while (personal issues) which I'm working on gigging again this spring/summer! Seen as I haven't used it for a while, my question is, is there any specific way of storing it, and what I mean by storing it is should I set it up every so often and use it for a couple of hours to 'blow the cob webs off' or will...Read More...
Hi Jack, That's exciting! Sure, it's safe to store it this way. Although I like to store it, set up in a location that's inviting to play. Rehearsing/practicing through an L1 can be inspiring. And it's a good precursor to gigging again. I'm sorry, you'll have to talk to Bose Support for help with that. Phantom Power for STAGG SCM200 microphones

All, My parents own a church and were given 4 brand new microphones that require 2 AA batteries. We are stuck. We cannot figure out how to get them working. We have a Tall Portable L1 I believe. Phantom power can be turned on and you'll find that on the back of it. As for the L1...I need to know if it has phantom power and DO THEY BOTH NEED TO BE ON? OFF? **Remember the microphones have 2 AA batteries in them** Thanks for your urgent feedback. Edit Subject: Previously "Phantom Power" Bose...Read More...
I am reminded of the old adage, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Typically low impedance means less than 600 ohms, and high impedance means more than 10k ohms. Numbers in between are considered medium. At 1000 ohms, the SCM200 should work OK as far as impedance is concerned. The mics in question are XLR, balanced. If they are not defective they should work with the mentioned equipment when connected with proper cables and switches or batteries in proper position. Without knowing what...Read More...
