Static - L1 compact with T1, guitar & mic

I am experiencing frequent static when touching the strings of my guitar. If not touching strings there is no static. I was wondering if it could be static electricity from my body but other suggestions would be appreciated. The static sounds much the same as you hear from static electricity when touching something. Any suggestions for resolution (other than "don't touch the guitar")? ThanksRead More...

Headphone to feed Bluetooth bluetooth

TURNERSTUDIO
Is there too much latency issue with using "Headphone Out" to bluetooth transmitter and some wireless IEM's? It seems this would be an obvious benefit for those that want to use this type of monitoring system, especially when the L1 Model 2 is out in front of the performer due to necessary physicality arrangement of the venue and you cannot hear yourself well at all. I am currently trying this. Has Bose not not considered this. It is right down their engineering demographic and I think they...Read More...
Hi TurnerStudio, Yes, there is too much latency. The issue is, the best you can expect from Low Latency Bluetooth is about 40 milliseconds. 40 milliseconds is intolerably long for live music monitoring (See link below). For those thinking about Bluetooth for monitoring, you'll find this interesting. The Effects of Latency on Live Sound Monitoring STRead More...

Hi Tima, Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. I'm sorry your T1 won't turn on. If you are close to a Bose dealer, please take it there for help determining if the issue is the T1 or the Power Stand or T1 power supply (if you have one). Your Bose dealer should also be able to contact Bose Support for you. Here is the contact information for Bose Australia. I would phone rather than write. S1 Pro line out to 1/8" stereo input

Hello ST, is there a specific cable that would be best for this? I am planning to BlueTooth across a hallway to the S1 Pro, and then connect another non-BlueTooth speaker to the output of the S1 Pro. The non-Bluetooth Speaker has a 1/8" stereo input, the same as channel three on the S1 Pro inputs. Thanks in advance, KenRead More...
Thank you! I already have an L1 Compact, and a SoundLink III, in addition to the S1 Pro. Bose hasn't seen fit to update the Soundlink III firmware to let me use the Bose Connect app with it, so I am planning to use an older Bose Sound Dock 10 that my aunt already owns to supplement the S1 Pro. I can bring the S1 on the plane, but this will save me from shipping the L1 Compact, which is what I usually do, while still giving me more punch than the S1 Pro packs by itself.Read More...

T8S to LI -- The Main Out Does Not Have A Mono Option -- Does it?

When I connect a single balanced 1/4 inch cable to the Right/Mono out from the T8S to the analogue input on the LI.... Inputs 2 and 3 are from Mainstage via my MacBook Pro via a 1/8th inch output from the Mac to 2 Quarter Inch in's to channel 2/3 of the T8S. If I PAN channel 2 to the LEFT, it goes away completely in the LI--If I pan it RIGHT, it gets louder. (Same is tru if I use either one of the XLR OUTS) Shouldn't there be a way to get a MONO sound from the T8S to the LI? Ok, yes, I can...Read More...
Man, thanks so much for the detailed replies! I really appreciate the feedback. I think I'm beginning to understand the T8S better. While the "Big Knob" is interesting--I would prefer not to add more gear into the mix. And I guess I could experiment with using one of the auxes for my mono out (and just get used to tweaking the Aux gain out "in the heat of the battle")---but it seems to make more sense to maybe just add another speaker to my set up if I'm going to run Stereo, and send a...Read More...

can i set 2 systems with both using their own tonematch

Hi Singsong, Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome! I would run the two systems completely independently. That is, each of you bring your own system and play through it. No need to connect them in any way. This means you get to manage your sound just like you would without amplification. The two of you managing your individual sound. Check out this video: The L1® Approach and the History of Amplification This explains why you don't need to link the two systems. By the...Read More...

Perception of bass changes as you raise the volume

Do you have the preset set for "Low Volume Music" - as that increases frequencies at low volumes and flattens out when driven harder. Maybe setting that to flat to start with might help the appearance of bottom end when wound up. Personally, the B1 has never appealed to me with audiences of 200 - 300. I run two L1 M2 with a B2 each and never have to drive the output more than 50% with the B2's normally set in mid position and I'm just a vocalist. I cannot imagine running a disco on a single...Read More...

L1 Model II low frequency dropping in and out

I hate to say this but every single L1 Model 2 I've had has experienced the low frequency dropping in and out. I'm on my 6th power stand and this problem started up again last night. Bass frequencies fade out and the overall tone is weird. Then randomly the lows pop back in and the system sounds good again. It's not like the B1 is losing the connection because there is no complete drop out of signal. I have two B1s and a B2. Changing cables and Bass cabinets don't make a difference. The...Read More...

Hi JD Moore, Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome. Let's assume you have a T1. The principles are the same if you have a T4S or T8S. Let's start with making sure your gain staging and ToneMatch Preset are set up correctly. Then on your vocal microphone channel, turn off all Compressor/Gate functions like this. This will turn off all the compression. Then check out this article. ToneMatch Mixer Comp/Gate Settings Be sure to check out the related article at the bottom.Read More...

Bass cutting in/out with L1 Model 2

swhoelefp69
Hi folks ! I'm experiencing some issues with the low frequencies with my L1... in the middle of a performance, I notice the bass frequencies drop off intermittently for a minute or two, then return to normal... it happens pretty much every gig (I gig about 10 times a month)... it's the strangest thing... has this happened to anyone else ? I haven't replaced the B1 speakon cable yet, to test that... but, could this be an issue with the T1 or the L1 itself ? just looking for any input from...Read More...

Trying to produce Demo quality Vocals/Guitar to create MP3 files to secure performance gigs.

Hi Everyone...sure could use your help on this problem. Issue: Trying to produce Demo quality Vocals/Guitar to create MP3 files to secure performance gigs. Hi George, The T1 Master Output is a clone of what you hear through an L1 connected via the ToneMatch port. The signal should be clear. That sounds like a ground loop problem. Windows 10 Mono Output

If you are connecting your Windows computer to a ToneMatch mixer and you are running mono, you don't need to use two inputs if your source is mono. In previous versions of Windows, it was not easy to convert the headphone output to mono. Now it's easy. Click Start Settings Ease of Access Audio Turn on mono audio Then use a cable like this to connect the computer headphone output to one of the 1/4" (6.3 mm) inputs on your ToneMatch mixer. Audix OM7 Microphone for Loud Band

Bose Pro Community Admin
Spun off from Loud enough for a Rock Band . The portion in Bold is what spawned this discussion. quote: Originally posted by Scooder: Chuck...My 5 piece band uses 2 L1s for most of our shows, and for most venues, it's plenty loud enough. We play primarily rock/country music at bar/grill establishments with audiences between 100-300 people and the L1s (classics) have no problem putting out sufficient volume. Our guitars & bass go through their own amps, so we use the L1's primarily to...Read More...
Keen OM7 user here for 4 years. Still disappointed that there still no OM7 preset. They have presets for the Audix OM2, OM3, OM5, OM6 & VX10 but not for the mic that best deals with L1 feedback issues the best (OM7)? I currently use the Shure Beta 87A preset & tweak from there.Read More...

Hi Mahesh, the Beta 87A is exceptionally bright and I too at first experience feedback, however - having reduced top end by 1db and mid by 2db I can sing at pretty hot levels without getting feedback. It is a good idea to have the mic label facing you when singing - as the polar pattern is concentrating on you best at that angle. It's rejection field is away from the label. Cheers DaveRead More...

Intermittently not powering up on switch-on.

Garry
Good Morning / Afternoon. I have a L1 model 2 with B2 and T1. This problem is not giving me any cause for concern but I am curious if Bose are aware and is there any known cure? Probably 1 in 10 times I switch the power stand on the light lights up and the tone match works but the amp does not fire up. The T1 shows level from inputs but no sound from the speakers. Turning the unit's off, waiting 10 seconds then switching back on, the power stand spring into life after about 5 seconds, then...Read More...
Garry, you are the first to let me know I'm not the only one this happens to on rare occasions...but it does happen. Just a reboot always does the trick. I use other effects, etc, and always wonder if my order of firing them up had anything to do with it. It has never failed to re-power up and be fine...but it's done it for several years now. Rare is the proper word because it happens maybe 1 out of some 10-20 times. If you pursue this with Bose and receive a solution or explanation, I sure...Read More...

Need to connect pc to L1 compact tonematch VIA yamaha MG10XU

Hi Bose, I need to connect my pc to a yamaha MG10XU mixer with a L1 compact tonematch as output. I have currently connected it with the mixer using an USB-A to USB-B cable. From the mixer to the L1 compact system, I am using a minijack to phono cable from the left monitor out (mixer) to the phono channel on the L1.
