How do I set up my microphone with the T1 ToneMatch® audio engine

ST
Here's a quick video to help you to set the input trim for a microphone on the T1®. This is called Gain Staging. The same principles apply for an instrument or line level input. Set the source to the highest level that you will need during the show, and then set the input trim so that you get solid green, occasional yellow flickers, and never see red. ... more T1® Videos ... more information about the T1 ToneMatch® Audio Engine STRead More...

Set up the T1 for stereo

Hello everyone, This is a guide on how to set up a T1 feeding two separate sources for left and right, e.g. two model II's or model I's. T1 is designed to be a mono device, so the setup for stereo is a little complicated. But, once set up, you can easily control volume of the stereo feed from your stereo device (keyboard, DJ mixer, iPod, etc.). Please note - you will not be able to use reverb in this configuration. Most keyboards already have stereo reverb built in - you can use that reverb...Read More...

Room Acoustics for Performers: Introduction

Ken-at-Bose
Hi Folks, At the recent L1 conference in Little Switzerland I gave a talk on Room Acoustics for Performers. We videotaped the presentation and we'll make that available as soon as it's been edited. I plan to add to the material in that talk here, and eventually I'm hoping we can move the information to the L1 wiki. I encourage you to ask questions and add your own commentary to these threads. The material gets better and better when you do. My goal is to provide information about room...Read More...
For bass traps you need much denser material (e.g. the densest building insulation sheet), ideally suspended a few inches away from the wall, and preferably positioned in corners.Read More...

T8 and L1 II, really loud beep occasionally

Daniel Blohm
So, I used my "new" T8 last night (i´ve used it one gig before). But for the first time in my career with Bose L1 (used it for years and hundreds of gig) it occasionally started to "beep" with high volume. The "beep" sound is like, well like a fire alarm thats running out of battery, it starts to beep as a warning signal that its time to change battery. The sound was like that, but very occasionally, it could be a couple of times right after each other, or could go like 20 minutes between...Read More...
Hi Daniel, I checked with all the people who would know, and there are no "warning sounds" (beeps) in any of the Bose Portable PA products. That covers: F1, L1, S1 Pro, T1, T4S, T8S. I also checked with our global support team. We haven't had any reports of beeps. As you might imagine, there are several people in Bose Professional who are musicians and entertainers. We asked around, and no one has heard a beep from our equipment. I'm sure you heard something, but we're equally sure the...Read More...

L1's As Monitors

Is there a way to use my 2 L1's as stage monitors with my F1 FOH system? Can the L1's somehow be daisy chained to use that way:Read More...
Hi RS, If you Behringer mixer has a monitor or aux send, then create you monitor mix and send that to the L1 systems. Then send the main mix to the F1 Model 812 systems. If the Behringer mixer does not have monitor or aux send, then you can connect the mixer main outputs to the F1 Model 812 systems. Then run a line out from each F1 Model 812 to the L1 systems. You can daisy chain from the F1 Model 812 systems to the L1 systems, but not the other way around. STRead More...

T1 to L1M2 via ethernet - Can I use the Master Output to a Powered Speaker?

I'm playing a big room on Saturday and am not confident the L1M2 will be enough. I want to hook up a separate powered speaker but have the T1 output to that speaker use the channel volume knobs so the aux isn't the solution. Mounting the speakers

We have the L1 Model II Cylindrical Radiator Loudspeaker system. Is there a way to mount the speakers to the wall and connect them to the base via cables. The unit is not practical where it is standing and there is not really a good location to set them in the floor that would not be in the way. It's a great system, unfortunately, whoever sold/installed it to the former management, didn't take into consideration the layout of our chapel.Read More...
As ST remarked. At one of our outdoor gigs, our band places the L1 with a B2 to the right and slightly ahead (toward the audience) of the group. There is enough side wash for complete monitoring of our performance, including by me in the furthest position away from the speakers and our conga player who sets up behind the system. Another piece of gear that may help would be a system like this one: Alto Professional - Stealth Wireless System. You can place the base and speakers anywhere in the...Read More...

Shared 7 Pin Midi cable for a pair of Model 1's?

Hey All, I love my Model1 L1! I'm hoping to buy a second Model 1 or Model 1 Classic. I'm wondering if it's possible to split my 7 pin cable that runs from my remote so that one remote control will control the two units? ie Channel 1 runs to the first L1, Channel 2 runs to the second. I'm not sure if my Model 1 L1 remote is compatible with an L1 Classic either? Many many thanks in advance. Cheers AdamRead More...
Hi...it defines the construction and assembly for those particular circular connectors. They come in many different pin configs. "MIDI" just happens to use a 5 pin DIN circular connector. And that's what those connectors are call "DIN". Of course nowadays everyone is using USB for MIDI hookup.Your 13 pin DIN connector cable on your pickup is not MIDI. It's the cable you plug into a guitar synth controller to get your GKP2 pickup to actually work. It's a proprietary Roland cable. The GR synth...Read More...

T1 Tonematch Cat5 cable

I've noticed on many Bose forums, it has been stated any Cat5, Cat6, or Cat7 ethernet cable will work in leau of replacement of the original 18-ft cable.. I called a wholesale cable distributor in the Midwest to order a custom-made 50-foot Cat5 cable to use with my L1 M2 system.. He asked how many pins does the existing T1 cable have.. L1 system power consumption and setup distances

I'm interested in knowing about how much power (in watts and/or amps) that an L1 classic (single bass module) system draws from the wall, reproducing just electric guitar and vocals at half max and max output potential for the classic system? Also, does the new L1 II systems make it possible for the musician to stand closer to his/her system in smaller venues with more consistent sound over the original system? Watts/power L1 systems

Just curiosity here... The original L1 classic that I bought years ago was rated at something like 750 watts. Now I understand that the L1 M2 is rated at 250 watts and my L1 compact at something like 135 watts. Now I know that my Bose systems, both past and current, use a wave system to do the job..different that other PA's. But at times I do wonder, I went from 750 watts to, what? 135 watts in my compact? Do I really only have roughly 1/5 the reach/capability in my compact that I had in my...Read More...
I guess in terms of power it is difficult to understand what to expect from a system - given the diversity of venue shapes and sizes both indoor and outdoor. A great dependence is place on "what" you want the audience to hear at which distance from the stage and what type of material are you performing. Is the audience a sit down and "listen" audience or are they a wild bunch jumping up n down and making a hullaballoo. Are they to feel a thump from the bass at the back of the venue and ear...Read More...

Bose L1 wireless monitor system

We are a 5 person bluegrass group and use an L1 for most of our events... mainly nursing homes, small business events and the like. We really like the quick set up and ease of use... the system works great for us with one issue. We use Audio-technica AT40333CL mic which is a condenser mic. This lets us get away without carrying a lot of mics and it is common in the bluegrass community to use this type of mic. The Bose and the single mic are all we have to set up and the sound is terrific.Read More...

Adding a second L1 and the trials and tribulations of a Surprise Entertainer

Hi folks. Was looking for some help and led me to this thread. I've been using my Bose L1 Model 2 for the last few years and it's changed my life work wise. I now have a hotel residency where I sing to live musician recorded backing tracks and the sound is phenomenal. Added Speakers to the L1-Compact

I keep reading that folks are creating ways to change the speaker set up and or add additional speakers to the L1 Compact system. Is there any advantage to adding speakers to the L1 Compact or is there a danger of harming the amplifier by doing so? What advantage would someone have versus jus setting up another unit? T1 output to house pa

I've read a couple of threads here that come close but wanted to ask: what is the correct splitter to use, to send dual XLR outputs to a house PA wall socket? Volume surge with L2 Model 1S

Was playing a gig the other night and my Bose would suddenly have a volume surge. I would then reduce the main volume and bring it back up and volume would go back to normal and then shortly after it would surge again. This happened multiple times over the course of a few hours. The same thing used to occur with my band at one of the markets we play that has an L1 1s. The Bose would sound slightly "muddy" for the first 1/2 hour to 3/4 of an hour and then the volume would suddenly increase to full "normal" volume and eq. with accompanying feedback - ACK! Then we'd have to jump onto the master fader and pull it down. It operated normally from then on. Hi Jon-Nolan, I'm glad you're enjoying the B1s. Thanks for coming back to tell us how you're making out. Even though the total carry weight for two B1s is a little more than a B2, I find the B1s easier to manage in transit. For vocals with guitar, I find the B1s to be tighter (good) and more responsive than the B2, although the distinction is subtle. I prefer to work with the L1® behind me. It's a nicer experience for monitoring. But I understand, that doesn't work for everyone. You...Read More...
