How do I set up my microphone with the T1 ToneMatch® audio engine

ST
Here's a quick video to help you to set the input trim for a microphone on the T1®. This is called Gain Staging. The same principles apply for an instrument or line level input. Set the source to the highest level that you will need during the show, and then set the input trim so that you get solid green, occasional yellow flickers, and never see red. ... more T1® Videos ... more information about the T1 ToneMatch® Audio Engine STRead More...

Set up the T1 for stereo

Hello everyone, This is a guide on how to set up a T1 feeding two separate sources for left and right, e.g. two model II's or model I's. T1 is designed to be a mono device, so the setup for stereo is a little complicated. But, once set up, you can easily control volume of the stereo feed from your stereo device (keyboard, DJ mixer, iPod, etc.). Please note - you will not be able to use reverb in this configuration. Most keyboards already have stereo reverb built in - you can use that reverb...Read More...

Room Acoustics for Performers: Introduction

Ken-at-Bose
Hi Folks, At the recent L1 conference in Little Switzerland I gave a talk on Room Acoustics for Performers. We videotaped the presentation and we'll make that available as soon as it's been edited. I plan to add to the material in that talk here, and eventually I'm hoping we can move the information to the L1 wiki. I encourage you to ask questions and add your own commentary to these threads. The material gets better and better when you do. My goal is to provide information about room...Read More...
For bass traps you need much denser material (e.g. the densest building insulation sheet), ideally suspended a few inches away from the wall, and preferably positioned in corners.Read More...

Wireless Guitar Systems, what do you use?

Chet I have the wood ones too and wondering if that has anything to do with having “good” ones? They’ve worked flawlessly for me thus far. On another tangent about wireless guitar systems like the U2, I found that on my Martin 0000-28 that has a Martin thin line pickup and preamp, the U2 would exhibit a high pitched hum that became more pronounced if I bent the unit towards the guitar, but diminished substantially when I extended it out from the body. I’m assuming that’s because the preamp...Read More...

Using T1 to PC Setup for Live Streaming Via Zoom

I'm having trouble using my T1 to PC (Windows 10) as a mixer for live streaming (using ZOOM). My input items include; Mic (ch 1) , guitar (ch 2) & iPad backing tracks (ch 3/4). My output to the PC is via the USB port. No matter what I have tried I get distortion or flanged sound quality. Sometimes one channel volume seems to drown out another, then returns to normal. The iPad backing tracks input seems to have the most problem with volume distortion. Can you recommend settings to resolve...Read More...

Video recording to iPad/iPhone using large diaphragm mic, T1

John S
I want to shoot video of acoustic guitar using an iPhone, but I would also like to use my large diaphragm mic that requires phantom power for the audio. I was thinking of running the mic through the T1, in part, to supply phantom power. Not sure how to route the audio from the T1 to the phone. I presume I need adapters including 3.5mm to lightning, but what other cable(s) are needed and what is the input output path, physically and in terms of T1 settings please? I searched through the...Read More...
Ahhhh, I see now. I thought you were wanting something in place of the T1 rather that to use with it. As the T1 has a 1/4" output (balanced or unbalanced), I would suggest the $40 iRig2 guitar/instrument interface for the iPhone (and select androids). You're going to need some kind of cable adapter anyway with built in resistive attenuation and the proper wiring to convert a mono 1/4" input to the iPhone's 3.5mm TRRS and they typically run around that same price. So, it'd be either a 1/4" to...Read More...

I have an L1 model 2 and the power light is flashing blue and red

This morning I turned on my L1 Model 2 to listen to some music and give my daughter a bass lesson. The music was clicking in and out. I looked at the base/stand and the power light is flashing blue and red. It sounds like a cooling fan in the tower base is turning off and on as well. Any ideas of how to fix this? Country of Manufacture for L1 Model II

I recently bought a used L1 Model II and two B1 units from a seller in Canada, who is shipping them to me in Virginia. I've been contacted by UPS for my social security number as the seller listed the L1 as being manufactured in China and therefore subject to tariffs. Connecting the Digitech Live 5 to t8s

I just received my t8s and have a hopefully simple question. I'm a solo acoustic performer. For the last few years I've been running the digitech live5 harmonizer through the t4s. I ran it like this: mic into line 1 in...line 1 out to digitech mic in. guitar into line 2 in...out to digitech guitar in. digitech main out into t4s channel 3 in. this gave me control over my vocal level and guitar level and master level. F1 plus bass unit

I am using two L1 Model 1s with a B2 bass and two B1 Bass unit. I also have an S1 for rehearsal. I have mentioned that I intend to ad two F1 812s for larger venues. Would I be making a mistake not adding the F1 bass modules as well? I usually perform with my jazz band, three horns, upright bass, banjo, vocal and drums so we don't have a ton of bottom. Thanks. That's about what I thought. I am expecting to get a lot of interest in the Ketron Act so I'm going all in. I'd rather go overkill than underkill! When I rehearse using the S1 the Ketron can sometimes be too much for it when I get carried away. So if I ever get to crank it up I'm sure I will be glad I have the horsepower. Volume cutting out then back to normal after 1/2 second

Garry
Good morning all from a rainy UK morning. Back in Oct 2017 I posted about a problem I had with the volume going to zero then back up to normal after 1/2 second as if some one was turning the volume control up and down. I was given a couple of possible issues to pursue, all of which I looked at. One issue was the possibility of a faulty cable between the power stand and the B2. I purchased a new cable from our local dealer. Well the equipment has not shown this fault again until this week...Read More...
Steve, I know you said you purchased a new B2 cable. I would still check both ends of that cable. Very easy check. My cable looked fine when I unscrewed the cap. But when i touched the wires, one wire came out. That's all it took to shut down my system. I made sure all the wires were all the way in and tightened down. No problems since. That speakon connection is very simple. Hope this helps. DaveRead More...

Perception of bass changes as you raise the volume

Do you have the preset set for "Low Volume Music" - as that increases frequencies at low volumes and flattens out when driven harder. Maybe setting that to flat to start with might help the appearance of bottom end when wound up. Personally, the B1 has never appealed to me with audiences of 200 - 300. I run two L1 M2 with a B2 each and never have to drive the output more than 50% with the B2's normally set in mid position and I'm just a vocalist. I cannot imagine running a disco on a single...Read More...
