How do I set up my microphone with the T1 ToneMatch® audio engine

ST
Here's a quick video to help you to set the input trim for a microphone on the T1®. This is called Gain Staging. The same principles apply for an instrument or line level input. Set the source to the highest level that you will need during the show, and then set the input trim so that you get solid green, occasional yellow flickers, and never see red. ... more T1® Videos ... more information about the T1 ToneMatch® Audio Engine STRead More...

Set up the T1 for stereo

Hello everyone, This is a guide on how to set up a T1 feeding two separate sources for left and right, e.g. two model II's or model I's. T1 is designed to be a mono device, so the setup for stereo is a little complicated. But, once set up, you can easily control volume of the stereo feed from your stereo device (keyboard, DJ mixer, iPod, etc.). Please note - you will not be able to use reverb in this configuration. Most keyboards already have stereo reverb built in - you can use that reverb...Read More...

Room Acoustics for Performers: Introduction

Ken-at-Bose
Hi Folks, At the recent L1 conference in Little Switzerland I gave a talk on Room Acoustics for Performers. We videotaped the presentation and we'll make that available as soon as it's been edited. I plan to add to the material in that talk here, and eventually I'm hoping we can move the information to the L1 wiki. I encourage you to ask questions and add your own commentary to these threads. The material gets better and better when you do. My goal is to provide information about room...Read More...
For bass traps you need much denser material (e.g. the densest building insulation sheet), ideally suspended a few inches away from the wall, and preferably positioned in corners.Read More...

Need to connect pc to L1 compact tonematch VIA yamaha MG10XU

Hi Bose, I need to connect my pc to a yamaha MG10XU mixer with a L1 compact tonematch as output. I have currently connected it with the mixer using an USB-A to USB-B cable. From the mixer to the L1 compact system, I am using a minijack to phono cable from the left monitor out (mixer) to the phono channel on the L1. I fear that this might be terribly wrong even though it seems to work. Lately I have been hearing an intermittent buzz when playing audio on the computer with L1 as the speaker as...Read More...

Bass cutting in/out with L1 Model 2

swhoelefp69
Hi folks ! I'm experiencing some issues with the low frequencies with my L1... in the middle of a performance, I notice the bass frequencies drop off intermittently for a minute or two, then return to normal... it happens pretty much every gig (I gig about 10 times a month)... it's the strangest thing... has this happened to anyone else ? I haven't replaced the B1 speakon cable yet, to test that... but, could this be an issue with the T1 or the L1 itself ? just looking for any input from...Read More...

T4S USB Playback Issue

Cammy
Hi folks, I have 2 x L1 Model 2 with 2 x B2's. I use the Tonematch T4S mixer. I use an approved USB (SanDisk Cruzer blade 64gb). I have about 21gb of mp3's on the USB, separated into files I use for our weddings and functions to play music in the breaks / first dance songs etc. The problem is it recognises the folders and plays the songs, but in my largest folder, it only recognises artists/folders up to the letter 'K' .... T1 Outputs for In-Ear Monitor

Here is my basic problem. In certain rooms (filled with people talking loudly) it can be difficult to hear the L1. In those situations I would like to be able to use my Shure earbuds as monitors. Mics and other gear I use with the L1 Compact

I have dozens of SM57's and SM58's for those that prefer them. My personal preferences are the Sennheiser E935 and Heil PR35, as they have superior frequency bandwidth, superior gain before feedback and mostly because I despise eating a microphone. My vocals have been described as a cross between Johnny Cash, , Mike Pinera, Tom Jones, Don Ho and Vicente Fernandez and all acoustically non-enhanced. Soft female vocals also work better with the Senneiser E935 and Heil PR35. One's lips can be up...Read More...
Along with being a performing artist, I'm also a live sound engineer, @banjoman . I use microphones requested by the artists. The SM 58's are requested by most. Different voices are brought out by many microphones. Some voices need that mid-range boost. Mine does not. My point is that most artists do not experiment with many other microphones to match/enhance their vocals.Read More...

Tonematch settings

Hi, I'm new here and hoping I can get some help with the T1 settings. I just purchased the Bose L1 compact and the T1 a couple of weeks ago. So far i LOVE it! But i just don't know how to set up the T1 settings to get the best sound possible. I've been playing music for years and have had limited experience with sound. Low volume output from Channels 1 and 2 Bose L1 Model 1

I'll try to be clear and concise. I'm part of a two piece group, 4NorthAcoustic. We plugged our instruments into a mixer and had the mixer plugged into Channel3 Line In. We used Channels 1 and 2 for our vocals (xlr). However, I noticed that my vocal output volume from Channel 1 gradually (and now permanently) decreased to the point where I can no longer use Channel 1 for vocals. Since I do most of the lead vocals, I took over my partner's Channel 2 and he put his vocals thru the mixer.Read More...
Hi Kory, Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. It sounds like the preamps in channels 1 and 2 are failing - or there's a problem with the R1 Remote. If channel 3 is fine, then the power amps are fine. Unfortunately the L1 Model I can no longer be repaired but if you call Bose Support, they can tell you about other options. L1 Compact - 100% audio loss from removable speaker

I run two Bose L1 Compacts at my acoustic gigs (PA-1 and PA-2, for our purposes). I recently ran into an issue with PA-2. I was at a gig recently and started getting a crackling/frying pan sound in one of my Bose L1 Compacts in the removable speaker. Almost sounded like a blown speaker rattles. I turned off the unit and finished my gig on the other L1 Compact. Then, I went to a gig this weekend and the high-end was completely out in one of my Compacts, no audio whatsoever from PA-2's...Read More...

Bose L1 MII & DriveRack PX

Has anyone used in combination Bose L1 MII and DBX DriveRack PX? I heard that the DriveRack PX is built for power speakers and received great reviews for other types of speakers. I use the Driverack PA in conjunction with the L1mII system and find it very useful for problem rooms and controlling feedback. If you play large venues at high volumes and have difficulty reducing feedback this product is very useful, the feedback rejection works very well. Also for multiple systems where you may need to add some delay to avoid phase problems it provides a simple solution. Only drawback I find apart from adding weight to your rig is that I very rarely get time to go through...Read More...

Using L1 Compact with a Yamaha Stagepas 600i

I am looking for the best way to chain together my L1 Compact and Tonematch T1 with a Yamaha Stagepas 600i to augment an outdoor live sound performance. I would love to use the preset vocal effects of the Tonematch. My technical ability is limited so I'm looking for step by step directions and a schematic like you've provided in the past. Thanks so much!Read More...
Feedback is a product of the microphones picking up any speaker sound wave output and recirculating/reamplifying them through the system until it feeds back. If you don't normally have feedback issues with the L1's behind you (which is where the L1's are designed to be), adding the Yamaha speakers up front would only be an issue if they're close enough to the microphones to be picked up.Read More...

T1 Channel 4/5 with two microphones?

DR. Roadkill
Can you run 2 mics using impedance transformers into channel 4/5 at once? Understanding that both mikes will be sharing the same eq and volume settings.Read More...
Hi Danny, I've used a microphone with T1 Channel 4 with an impedance matching transformer . It worked fine. I expect you can run two, with the limitations you mentioned. I have run two microphones into a single channel in other circumstances. The issue has always been - singers sing at different volumes so gain staging (setting the trim setting well) is always a compromise. If you try it, please let us know how it goes. Thanks, STRead More...

T1 Tone Match channel 4/5

Is there a way to utilize channel 4/5 for a vocal mic. What type of impedance matching adapter would be required for a sm58 or 57 for mic'ing amps? Should I use a DI box to split a mic chord into twp separate 1/4" male adapters? Is there a fix around the decibel drop in a line input? No B2?

Hello, I regularly perform DJ sets for a department store, and I'm always getting complaints about the bass with my L1 Model II. This despite having the module on the lowest bass setting. T8 and L1 II, really loud beep occasionally

Daniel Blohm
So, I used my "new" T8 last night (i´ve used it one gig before). But for the first time in my career with Bose L1 (used it for years and hundreds of gig) it occasionally started to "beep" with high volume. The "beep" sound is like, well like a fire alarm thats running out of battery, it starts to beep as a warning signal that its time to change battery. The sound was like that, but very occasionally, it could be a couple of times right after each other, or could go like 20 minutes between...Read More...
Hi Daniel, I checked with all the people who would know, and there are no "warning sounds" (beeps) in any of the Bose Portable PA products. That covers: F1, L1, S1 Pro, T1, T4S, T8S. I also checked with our global support team. We haven't had any reports of beeps. As you might imagine, there are several people in Bose Professional who are musicians and entertainers. We asked around, and no one has heard a beep from our equipment. I'm sure you heard something, but we're equally sure the...Read More...

Hi RS, If you Behringer mixer has a monitor or aux send, then create you monitor mix and send that to the L1 systems. Then send the main mix to the F1 Model 812 systems. If the Behringer mixer does not have monitor or aux send, then you can connect the mixer main outputs to the F1 Model 812 systems. Then run a line out from each F1 Model 812 to the L1 systems. You can daisy chain from the F1 Model 812 systems to the L1 systems, but not the other way around. STRead More...
