Is The B2 Just Too Much?!

Matt Wahl
I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this or if I should have tacked this on to the guitar thread I started but here goes: I'm messing with a new guitar, a Tom Anderson Crowdster. It's a thin-bodied chambered acoustic guitar. No sound hole. I like a lot of things about it but I'm having a really hard time dialing it in through my L1 Model 2 w/B2 and my T1 when set up in our living room. Now I know this room might not be a typical live music venue but I guess I feel like I should be...Read More...
You've done all the subtractive EQ you could with various methods. Have you gotten things to the point that works for you with the Crowdster plus vocals and foot percussion? What happens to your overall sound if you swap in a different guitar? I don't think you should have to alter your PA (elevate it) to accommodate one input. ST Hi ST! I am getting closer to getting a workable sound. I am still hearing a couple of things I don't want to! I have an Empress Para EQ coming Monday. If that...Read More...

Settings suggestions for solo acoustic - new to my L1B1 w/Tonematch

Hi! Please excuse me if I ask a lot of questions to your responses, I am trying to learn as much as I can. I play a Taylor 214ce, plugged into a RC-20 Loop Station and I sing into a mic (can't remember the brand right now). I plug the mic into channel 1, the loop station into channel 2 and I have downloaded all of the presets. I have my guitar set to Taylor T5 (not a setting for 214ce) and I have my mic set to handheld mic. I have a 10% delay on the guitar and adjust according to the room. I...Read More...
Hello All,just to add my 2 cents to the convo.I play local bars and restaurants, currently using my Bose L1 B2 with my Taylor 714ce.I use the TChelicon Play Acoustic. Its great for vocal harmonizing effects and the Bodyrez feature makes the acoustic sound of my Taylor sound fantastic.I have received many compiments on the acoustic sound. My only complaint, and not really a complaint as much as I need to sit down and figure out the input and output levels is that, with the Play Acoustic plugged...Read More...

Poor acoustic guitar sound

Hi I hope somebody can please help! I have a top end OM acoustic guitar fitted with both a LR Baggs Active Element pickup and a K&K Pure Western Mini (Dual source configuration, but I can use either pickup on its' own if necessary) I am pulling my hair out trying to get a decent sound through my L1 Model 2 with B2 Bass and T1 mixer. The sound is incredibly thin and harsh, with the higher frequencies sounding particularly awful. There is no richness or "shimmer" to the sound at all. Just...Read More...
Another thing I can think of is that maybe a preset was accidentally turned on. A low/high shelf? An amp preset? With what you're describing, it's NOT your guitar, and not the L1... the T1 is the only thing that could possible be set wrong. If you're still running the TC Helicon, you can experiment and plug that directly into the L1 (use the Guitar DI output XLR-TRS adapter) That 'should' make you hear your guitar through the L1 properly. Then we can move on to finding that hidden preset...Read More...

I need more inputs

Hi All, I'm doing a charity gig in a couple of months time, in a small venue. I'll be using My Li / S1/ B2 system with Ti Tonematch. there's a variety of acts performing that night, mostly solos and duos. But there is also a Trio who use 3 mics plus guitars. It's a one off gig so I don't want any added expense, so how would I connect an external mixer to the T1 ? Thanks EddieRead More...
yes Tony a great help and assurance. Thanks for your help, i'll be trying this out at the weekend and i'll let you know how I get on. Regards EddieRead More...

Software and Backing Tracks for IPad

Good morning all. I am brand new to this world. I'm with two country bands, but am looking to do some solo work and have no tracks and no software to run it on my IPad. I'm having difficulty sifting through everything on line and would love some advice. I'll be using my L1 system, recently purchased, and right now would be in a singing only capacity. Learning guitar to accompany myself in the future, but for now want a karaoke type track system, I would guess, to be able to adjust pitch.Read More...
I use an iPad Pro with 256 GB on board space. Karaoke Anywhere HD takes standard Karaoke zip files from any if the makers. you can make up an auto play gig list per gig and store them. You can also lower or raise key per song which it remembers. Best part it's only £14 in U.K. i also use a cheap DJ prigrame to fill in during my breaks. both simple to use and cheap. hope it helps.Read More...

Which L1 would you recommend?

Hi folks, I'm new to this forum, and interested in picking up an L1 for performing at small clubs in the Vancouver area, guitar (direct input) and vocal (Shure 58). I play regularly at a pub on Bowen Island, even when full I can't imagine there'd be anywhere near 100 people, so I'm wondering if the L1 Compact would be suitable for that type of venue. Martin 00-28

Hi all well after much amazing advice from the members on this forum I dived in and bought my first L1. A model 2 with a B1 (for now) and T1. We ( my wife, singer and I, guitar) have done a couple if small cocktail/garden party type gigs and all I can say is wow! Truly amazing. Easy to carry, setup, use and take away. And sounds fabulous. so now for some tuning.... I play a Martin 00-28 and am struggling a bit to find 'that sound'. Maybe I expect too much but with all that processing power...Read More...

multi effects

Hi, just got a Boss ME 80 multi effects and although I'm quite happy with the clean sounds through the T1, the distortion sounds are not so good. Has anyone else got this problem? I'm thinking on using a small amp and micing it but that means more gear to lug around. Any ideas ?Read More...

During Breaks

I have currently been using a L1 compact for solo gigs. 1 guitar and mic. iPad Users, Help Please

Vocals sound hollow after power surge

I've had the L1M2 for about 5 years. Never a problem with vocals sounding rich and full. I'm usually busy most weekends. Recently I've noticed the vocals coming through the tower are echoey...like in a tunnel. I experienced a loud piercing noise at a gig, and afterwards, I noticed my bass was not coming through. I sent off for another power stand and the bass comes through fine, but, the towers just don't sound the same. I've tried everything, a new mic, making new settings with the T1.Read More...

You are welcome Allen, the L1 is a lot of fun to learn, and can be frustrating as well. My advice is to NOT USE anything that you don't absolutely have to. Like Compression, I've never needed it, but have experimented with it. It will increase your likelihood of feedback, and can lead to voice fatigue. Instead of compression, sing close to the mic, super close, lips touching it. Get used to your loud voice on stage, as loud as you can w/o feedback. Then set your instrument level behind the...Read More...

3 weeks to get the settings right for a big gig, complete beginner - need help...

Hi Everyone, I'm playing to about 500 people outside in 3 weeks, and obviously there's quite a curve to getting the sound you want as I've only got my system yesterday. I have the L1M2B2 and I'm using a Shure Beta 58a and Gibson J45, I have the presets on the tonematch, and light comp on mic and guitar channels, and small reverb. It sounds pretty good, but not quite the sound I'm after - but I don't want to spend too long fiddling as I need to get used to playing through the system etc. Does...Read More...
Seagullman said " I find (if at all needed) a very short delay works better on most vocals than reverb. It helps to just "thicken them up a little." I totally agree with delay instead of reverb. My favorite setting is the "Analog" delay, at (rather long) 250-279ms of delay, 10% feedback, and a Mix of only 13%, very subtle, but quite thickening. Sometimes, if it's a big rock epic song, I might add in reverb this way: Set Global Reverb to "Plate", and keep it under a Mix of 23% Again, very...Read More...

How do you use backing tracks?

rogpette
I.m a proud owner of one L1M2 with B2 after several years of using rcf art 522 as a front PA system. I can now put the speaker behind me and I can hear myself perfectly. I perform as an solo act and sometimes as a duo. I do the lead vocals and play electric and acoustic guitar. I use backing tracks (midifiles) that I have created myself. B1 or B2

Greetings, I will soon purchase a L1 1S and was wondering about the bass module. Truth is I would rather hump the b1 than the b2 but i don't want the sound to pay for my lightened load. I play electric guitar (with a pod) and use mp3 backing tracks typically with bass and drums. sometimes I use keys. Its 90% instrumental music I play some jazz, blues, santana, allman bros intstrumentals. No metal, grunge, power, etc. Will the B1 module be adequate for the bass and drums of the backing tracks...Read More...
I agree - I use an L1 with 2 x B2 speakers. `In some venues, I find that I need just a little more headroom, so am thinking about going for a B2 soon (or would I need two? Does 1 x B2 = 2 x B1??) Hi Mic, As a solo guitarist/singer I'll throw in my two cents worth. Vocal compression....bypass. There are many merits to vocal compression that are well documented here. But I think of it this way: Compression creates an envelope with a top line and bottom line. The more compression, the more narrow the envelope becomes, eliminating highs and lows outside the envelope lines. How are your vocals? How are your mic technique? How is your input gain? I little vocal can "bring forward" your...Read More...
