I'll paste from my email here, should be of musician-interest anyway: Don’t forget, Friday night is Concert Night at Scupper Jack’s in Acton Massachusetts, 7:30-10:30. Pristine sound quality and “not too loud” (what a concept!). If you do come out, please please please stop by and say hello and especially say “I got the email”. The rest isn’t...Read More...

THE ULTIMATE L1 STAGE PHOTO!

The attached photo is from a concert event that 2nd Planet hosted on Saturday May 22, 2010 at the Fairfield Center for Creative Arts. (FCCA) We have been L1 users for the 5 years, and at this particular concert, I was never more proud and happy to be an L1 user. This wonderful evening of music featured 2nd Planet and we were followed by the great Latin jazz artist, Ray Obiedo and Mambo Caribe who were the headliners and they performed through a traditional stage and sound setup. The venue's...Read More...

Cliff Weekend Update

elone
For those who already booked flights, here's some news: 1. I’m not at Scupper Jack’s tonight. They are honoring a way-old previous booking commitment. Sorry for late notice. I’ll be back in full every Friday starting next Friday (20 August) thru the end of September. My shows getting a great reaction and the seafood (and ambience) is choice. 2. I’ll be playing with the Bruce Marshall Group Saturday (tomorrow, 14 Sept) at a big festival at the Hudson Elk’s Lodge in Hudson MA from 6-9pm.Read More...
The answer is "both". I'm also doing some pickup stuff soon, just show up and play. The Bruce Marshall work is really demanding but very rewarding, Bruce being very picky about arrangements (as he should, great songs he's composed over the years). So, I'm developing a balanced musical life. Looks good on the horizon to me. Great to see your message. How bout YOU? Lots more solo opportunities than band work here, or so it seems.Read More...

Last Friday's show (my first there) was a blast playing. More important, everyone loved it but most important the restaurant owner loved it (got a lot of encouragement from his customers). As a result, he gave me a gig every Friday night for August and September. I was stunned. I used the Yamaha CP33 and just used the mono grand (finally, one that really works like a piano!) and the Rhodes. The Rhodes feels like the best clay squeezing between your fingers. Can get enough of that one. I have...Read More...

Hi ST, thank you for your positive comments. I only just got the video camera and we thought we'd set it up and see what we got! I'll let you know how the CD sales are affected by my intro line at the end of the autumn tour! Sweet feet was named by a member of the audience on my last tour. I said that I didn't have a name for it and jokingly said that I'd be happy to receive suggestions. One night someone suggested Sweet Feet as he'd noticed that I bop about a bit when I play! The name stuck...Read More...

Wichita Lineman

Mike O'Neal - Wichita Lineman ... just finished this last night, pseudo-mastered it up to my website this morning ... Sure makes me wish I had an old Fender Bass VI and an amp with Vibrato! Rikki

Mike in Texas
Mike O'Neal - Rikki Don't Lose That Number (I'm trying to think how this is remotely Bose related... OK - using the Bose since 2003 has taught me to sing and play more distinctly and accurately, and has shown me that nuances really CAN come through - how's that!) Mike O'Neal - mixed media performance of Rikki Don't Lose That Number by Steely Dan The video is from my May 2010 show at the Neuhaus Cafe in North Dallas - I think the first time I performed Rikki live, inspired by Michael Crane...Read More...
Thanks fellas - it was fun doing this - I KNOW there are imperfections, but I wasn't striving for absolute perfect, and accept my musical and technical limitations, and have fun doing what I can do. My friend ST commented privately, because he was hesitant to discuss some tech aspects in public - slightly out of sync with the video, strange guitar un-sync notes at first, and a little vocal clipping or distortion a place or two. I told him I noticed this too but just left it - all is fine!Read More...
