Bluetooth on S1 Pro...

Hi ST, Just wonder: considering S1 Bluetooth connectivity is always “turn on” and actively “seeking” device to pair with (but also not being LE version or at least I was not able to find that exact detail information in the manual), would you recommend to use a very simple solution by plugin in a 3.5mm TRS male to 3.5m TRS female, right angle adapter - see the pic attached? There is no option of switching Bluetooth on or of, except when the miniature headphone input is “occupied” - meaning...Read More...

Line level input or mic level input on S1 Pro

On the S1 Pro combo inputs, is there a difference between using XLR cables vs. 1/4" cables? For most of the PA systems I've owned in the past, the XLR input has been mic level and the 1/4" input has been line level so I'm wondering if there is a difference here. Specifically, I'm wondering whether there would be a difference using a 1/4" TRS cable or an XLR cable from my mixer to the S1 Pro.Read More...
Absolutely! That's exactly what I wanted to know.Read More...

Initial observations about using the S1 Pro Backpack

Archtop Eddy
Having now used my S1 Pro backpacks at several gigs, I thought I'd share some initial observations. Generally, I think the packs are well made, well designed, and handy for gigging and transport. I don't find myself using it as a "backpack" too often, instead I just pick it up by the top handle and carry it in that way. Since the S1 Pro is only 16 pounds, even with added cables, it is a light-weight, well-balanced load. Here's a few "use" observations. These are kind of obvious but may be...Read More...

Battery Percentage Sticker

CityFolk
I’ve read in the updated S1 manual about a sticker that lists the various battery percentages based on the number of flashes, but my S1 didn’t come with that sticker even though it came with the battery. Should I just call Bose support to see if they can send me one?Read More...
I found the sticker in the plastic bag that had the documentation etc. The Bose Connect app will tell you the battery strength.Read More...

Setting for Harmonizer using S1 Pro System

Guitargal58
I received my new "baby" last week and am blown away by the power this little jewel has. I'm not sure which setting I should use "Mic or Guitar" on Channel 1 as I run my guitar and mic through my VLHM harmonizer. I have switched to both mic and guitar and can't really determine a difference. Anyone else using a harmonizer with their S1? I also use the BeatBuddy drum foot pedal and run through channel 2 on the S1. AWESOME!!!!!! Thanks, GeriRead More...
Thanks. Glad it was helpful. Just noticed a ton of type errors. Dang autocorrect on my iPad. Sorry if it was hard to understand.Read More...

s1 pro vs Yamaha stagepass 600i

hey everyone I'm deliberating between the boss s1 to stagepass 600i. I need speaker for outdoor and in door of 100 +- people capacity. I'm working as a dancing teacher - many styles, different kind of music sometime need to be very loud and some times less. I'm right before buying the s1 and I want to make sure that it good for my needs. low weight great money value bluetooth just not sure about the powerful music. thx a lotRead More...
@saxman sounds perfectly reasonable and similar to my situation. I use the S1 in smaller venues or where power might not be available. Then use our L1M2 where I need more coverage. You could also consider using the S1 as a monitor from an Aux Out of the StagePass if needed. Use it on battery power to make it easier to position. Just a thought. I’m using the S1 with the L1 in certain venues where I need additional sound coverage that is awkward to get to like behind me or off to the side...Read More...

T1 Lessons learned with the S1 Pro

CityFolk
@RDFritz can you share any lessons learned about your learning curve with the T1 that might be helpful for other newcomers to that technology?Read More...
Thanks ST for the quick response. With the T1 set to KMS 105 and the trim control set correctly it indeed helps with any feedback issues. Actually, most of my feedback issues with the KMS 105 usually has to do with using other systems (house, other PAs) and having to be in too close of proximity to the speakers. The KMS 105 is a sensitive mic and at higher volumes can pick up someone clinking their glass at the other end of the room (ha ha -- just kiddin'). I'm just thinking using a noise...Read More...

Mic Popping

Hi All. Can anyone help re the above please? Iv'e been having trouble on certain songs, where for some reason when lyrics starting with P are sung I get a Loud Pop as an emphasis, despite all the EQs/ levels ect sounding great on everything else. I have set the Prefs for a SHURE 58 but still popping, am I not- doing something here? or overdoing something? or do I need a Mic Shield/ Different Mic? Cheers . any ideas would help. Thanks in advance. Ronnie.Read More...
Hi All. Many thanks for all your suggestions, very helpful. I had a sneaky feeling it would be either a wind shield or 'eat the mic' as they say, but the latter is not my particular singing style. I will give the Shure positioning tips a go, and the shield, thanks again. Ronnie.Read More...

Best vocal settings on S1 Pro

Hi Guys, Wonder if any of you would share your best vocal settings (eq, tonematch) with me and also the position of the S1 Pro you like best (tilt back, table top, speaker pole)? Also, whether or not you are using an additional device to control things like vocal eq or other effects? Thanks in advance and I appreciate anything you are willing to share. MartyRead More...

S1 Pro with impedance matching transformer

I busk and play in small cafés/bars so do not use the speaker mount mode. Even in the street the tilt back mode is adequate and sound carries well. I do use the attached impedance transformer for my vocalist - it increases the vocal volume substantially, which I find is low on this Bose device.Read More...
What type of output jack is on your Vocalist? Is it balanced or unbalanced? XLR or 1/4”? Is there a gain on your vocalist output? Perhaps you could goose that? If unbalanced 1/4”, as an alternative based on ST’s response, take a short 1/4” cable from the Vocalist into a passive DI and then run a standard XLR cord from there into the S1? Or am I making a mountain out of a molehill?Read More...

Advice for using S1 Pro outdoors

CityFolk
We just finished an outdoor gig with a single S1 at a local farmers market where we were under a 10x10 canopy with open sides. To keep us and the S1 out of the blistering sun, we had it positioned on a speaker stand behind us just at head level under the tent. The volume was just a little over 50%. There was a little wind and the area has no buildings just an open parking lot with tents going about 75-100 yards ahead of us. While this was probably one of the worst case scenarios for the S1...Read More...
Last night I played an outdoor patio gig at a local restaurant. The patrons sitting directly in front of me were pretty close me. I worried about being too loud for them and yet not loud enough for the other customers. The S1 Pro was on a small speaker stand, to my right about even with my shoulders. I simply picked up the whole unit (since it was battery powered) and moved it back about three feet -- problems solved. I thought the speaker actually sounded better to me and also solved the...Read More...

Need specs on S1 Pro TRS Output

My question is about your S1 Pro described at https://www.bose.com/en_us/products/speakers/portable_pa_speakers/s1_pro_system.html with regards to the TRS output. I need to use it for other than a speaker. What is its nominal output level, impedance, and allowable load so that the load does not affect the S1? Many thanks. (I looked at the manual and tried Google, but to no avail - the info is just not there.)Read More...
ST, All: Thank you very much for the information. I have just ordered a suitable impedance matching transformer that will do what I need. Very many thanks again.Read More...

Considering Purchase

Guitargal58
I am considering purchasing this little jewel for my solo shows. I currently use my Yamaha Stagepass 600i and love it...but need a monitor for my Beat Buddy and Digitech VLHM harmonizer. I was using a TC Helicon FX150 but have had issues with both (sent one back...got a replacement...now more issues). I really don't need another PA system but am wondering how this compares to the L1 system (I also have Fishman SA220 solo amp). The larger PA is used mainly for my outdoor gigs at festivals and...Read More...

(Early Adopters0 Complimentary Free S1 Pro Backpack/Re-chargeable Battery

Hi and thanks to those who responded to my post re: above. My take on this , for what its worth is that following BOSE corporate decision to supply fitted Re-chargeable batteries to this unit, we lost our choice, and mine would have been to have had the Back- pack, which I thought I was getting sent. Never mind I am happy with the unit, but its true worth re: quality sound... is through my TS4 Tonematch Mixer bought separately, and it would have been near perfect with just a few more...Read More...

BackPack arrived yesterday.

OK! I guess they DIDN'T forget the little province of New Brunswick in Canada. No advance news from UPS, no e-mails but a truck backed into my driveway and voilà! Already had 2 Arriva padded bags for my S1 but this one is better but much more expensive. Got an afternoon gig and will use my 2 S1's on stands and to bring them - one in the BackPack and the other in the other bag, mixmatched. Not used to this. Can someone tell me when they will be available to the poor *****s that bought their...Read More...

S1 Pro Battery Back-Pack.

Hello Dooer. I'm so glad you have managed to secure one of these ( Early Adopters S1 Pro Back-Packs) they are much more protective of these lovely little mobile units, should keep your looking good. I also have an S1 Pro, and may get another soon, and although the unit itself is remarkable and worth the quite hefty price tag, I am not to happy about the basic cover that comes with this, and was hoping to get an S1 Pro Back-Pack to keep mine safe when out and about, but as yet no luck. Do you...Read More...

two S1 Pro Speakers with F1 sub .... signal from T1 Tonematch

I recently purchased the S1 to use as a monitor with two F1 812,s with F1 subs at FOH from my T1. I ran this equipment configuration at a large outdoor venue. As a monitor the S1 is outstanding. I played a very small (40 in the audience) gig in a confined area last week using just a single S1 (again with the Tonematch) ... amazing. I am totally impressed with this small powerhouse. I am now considering picking up a second S1 and would like to use two S1’s with my F1 sub with signal from my...Read More...

I don't get that. I just downloaded it onto a computer I did not have it on , did not log in or anything, and it played the songs I tried from start to finish. Power switch

I have just purchased a new Bose S1 Pro and following a you tube video upboxed it set the power switch to the 2nd position plunged in the cable and then switched it on. I now the 3rd position is rapid charge and the 1st position is on. When do you use the middle position or position 2? Do you set this to this position everytime you plug the mains in before you switch it on? What position do you set it in when you finished using it? ThanksRead More...
